カラープリンタ100は、画像データ処理装置ACPの画像データ処理器IPP(Image Processing Processor;以下では単にIPPと記述)から、書込みI/F134に記録画像データを受けて、作像ユニット135でプリントアウトする。

すなわち、Color/BW信号を送る。
スイッチ切換え信号Scbは、Color/BW信号がhigh(カラー)の時はLowになり、入力されるColor/BW信号がLow(モノクロ)の時はhighになる信号である。
【0078】
Vccd’=Vccd 。
【0083】
D=255×Vin/Vref 。
【0084】
Ga=g×M/N
Vccdbw=Vccd×R2/(R1+R2)
Vccd’=Vccdbw
200=Vccdmax×R2/(R1+R2)×255/Vref
D=255×Vin/Vref 。
Vccd’=Vccd 。
【0096】
D=255×Vin/Vref 。
【0097】
Ga=g×M/N

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image reading apparatus that reads an image and generates an analog video signal, that is, an analog signal representing the image, and A / D converts the analog signal into image data that is digital data, and an image forming apparatus using the image reading apparatus. Applicable to digital copying machines, digital fax machines, etc.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In an image reading apparatus, an analog image signal from a line sensor that has read an image is input to an A / D conversion circuit to obtain a digital signal. At this time, in order to fully demonstrate the accuracy of the A / D conversion circuit, the gain of the variable gain amplifier is set so that the analog image signal changes widely between the upper limit reference value and the lower limit reference value of the A / D conversion circuit. It is necessary to adjust the offset amount in the offset setting unit. In general, in an image reading apparatus, as seen in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 6-105135, an output of an A / D conversion circuit whose peak is detected is taken into a CPU, and an optimum gain setting value is compared with a target value. And the gain setting of the variable gain amplifier is changed according to the gain setting value.
[0003]
On the other hand, the gain is determined so that the range of the analog image signal input to the A / D conversion circuit is within the conversion target voltage range of the A / D conversion circuit (for example, the voltage range addressed to 0 to 255 in 8 bits). However, the size of the analog image signal varies from machine to machine due to various factors. Factors include variations in the amount of light source, line sensor sensitivity, reference white plate density, mechanical dimensions, and the like. Conventionally, these variations have been dealt with by using a variable gain amplifier having a wide amplification range so that image data A / D converted in the amplification range of the variable gain amplifier can be set to a target value. It was.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the case of a reading system that switches the reading time (one line accumulation time, one line exposure time), due to the difference in the light accumulation time of the photoelectric conversion cell, further variations in analog image signals, that is, the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value, Therefore, it is conceivable that the digital signal cannot be set to the target value within the amplification range of the variable gain amplifier in the conventional method.
[0005]
More specifically, for example, in a reading system in which the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of the analog image signal is large, the gain g of the variable gain amplifier in the previous stage of the A / D conversion circuit is the output of the A / D conversion circuit X ( 8 bit), where the dynamic range of the reference voltage is Vref and the input voltage of the A / D converter circuit is Vin, g = (X / 255) × Vref / Vin. Here, if Vin has a large difference between the maximum value and the minimum value, and the necessary gain becomes too small at the maximum value, the analog image signal is temporarily converted into a resistance voltage dividing circuit if the gain does not fall within the variable gain range of the variable gain amplifier. When Vin takes the minimum value, the minimum value is divided and further reduced, so that the necessary gain becomes too large and still falls within the variable gain range of the amplifier. It will not enter.
[0006]
In the present invention, the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of the analog image signal is large.Read color and monochrome images with the same CCDEven in the reading system, the variable gain amplifierinputrangeInOptimalCCD output can be obtained,Obtaining proper A / D conversion data, that is, image dataProvide an image reading device that canThe porpose is to do.

In addition, in order to make an understanding easy, the code | symbol of the corresponding element or the corresponding matter of the Example shown in drawing and mentioned later in parentheses was added as reference for reference. The same applies to the following.
[0009]
According to this, the exposure time is longColorIn the reading mode, the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of the analog image signal becomes large. However, by dividing the voltage, the image data can be set to a target value within the amplification range of the variable gain amplifier (11d). In the device, exposureDifferent timeColor reading mode and monochrome reading modeAppropriate image data can be obtained for each of the above. In color reading mode and monochrome reading modeThe required variable range of the variable gain amplifier (11d) can be made uniform, and a low-cost variable gain amplifier with a small variable range can be used.
[0010]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
(2) The voltage dividing ratio (R2 / (R1 + R2)) of the voltage dividing circuit is “In monochrome reading modeExposure time/Color reading modeExposure time ”above (1) Image reading apparatus.
[0011]
Since the analog image signal level is approximately proportional to the exposure time, the voltage division ratio (R2 / (R1 + R2)) is set to “In monochrome reading modeExposure time/Color reading modeLong exposure time by setting "exposure time"ColorShort exposure time due to partial pressure even in reading modeMonochromeAnalog image signal of the same level as in the reading mode is given to the variable gain amplifier (11d), and the exposure time is shortMonochromeImage data equivalent to that in the reading mode is obtained. Long and short exposure timeColor / monochromeWhen switching the reading mode, it is not necessary to switch the gain or the amount of gain change is small. The required variable range of the variable gain amplifier (11d) can be aligned, and a low-cost variable gain amplifier with a small variable range can be used.wear.
[0012]
(2a) In the color reading mode, when the output is small, the pressure is not divided ((1)Or (2)Image reading apparatus.
[0013]
Even in the color reading mode, if the output is small, the analog image signal is not reduced more than necessary by not dividing the voltage, so that image data with a high S / N can be obtained.
[0014]

Long exposure timeSquidError reading modeInHowever, when the level of the analog image signal from the line sensor is low, A / D conversion is performed without dividing the voltage, so that image data with a high S / N can be obtained. Even when the level of the analog image signal from the line sensor is high, the image data can be set to a target value within the amplification range of the variable gain amplifier (11d). In this case, the S / N of the analog image signal itself from the line sensor is high.

According to this, the output level range of the variable gain amplifier (11d) can be optimally matched to the conversion voltage range of the A / D conversion circuit (11f), and image data with high resolution can be obtained in any reading mode. Can be obtained.

(4a) The gain setting means (12e) stores the presence / absence of partial pressure and the gain addressed to the set reading mode in a non-volatile memory, and uses them for A / D conversion for document image reading.4).
[0019]
Until the next gain setting, the same A / D conversion using the presence / absence of partial pressure addressed to the reading mode and the gain is performed. Since it is not always necessary to set the gain immediately before image reading, it is possible to read the image efficiently.

(3) Image reading apparatus. According to this, since the analog image signal level can be maximized by the variable gain amplifier (11d), image data with a high S / N can be obtained.

(5) Above (1)-(4a), An information processing apparatus (ACP) that corrects image data output from the image reading apparatus and processes the data into image formation data, and the information processing apparatus An image forming apparatus comprising: a printer (100) that forms an image on an image medium based on the processed data.
[0022]
According to this, by the image reading device (10)Color / monochromeEven when analog image signals with large variations in image reading are considered to be input to the variable gain amplifier, it is possible to obtain an appropriate level of image data and print out an image with a smooth gradation expression and a high S / N ratio. .

[0024]
According to this, an image reading function for sending image data read by the image reading device (10) to the outside, a printer function for printing out image data from the outside, and printing the image data read by the image reading device (10) It is possible to provide a multi-function copier that can effectively use the memory for a plurality of functional operations, such as a copying function for copying out and an image editing function using the memory. In this, by the image reading device (10)Color / monochromeEven when analog image signals with large variations in image reading are considered to be input to the variable gain amplifier, it is possible to obtain an appropriate level of image data and print out an image with a smooth gradation expression and a high S / N ratio. .

The image data sent to the IMAC is stored in the MEM after data compression, and the stored image data is read out as necessary. The read image data is decompressed, returned to the original image data, and returned from the IMAC to the CDIC via the parallel bus Pb. The CCD 11a has a sensor unit that is physically shielded, called an optical black (OPB) pixel, and then a sensor unit that outputs a voltage proportional to the amount of incident light called an effective pixel. The switch switching signal Scb is a signal that becomes Low when the Color / BW signal is high (color) and becomes high when the input Color / BW signal is Low (monochrome).

In the color reading mode, a switch switching signal Scb (Low) for turning off the switch Csw is inputted from the CPU 12e, and a value Vccd · R2 // (value obtained by dividing the CCD output Vccd by the resistors R1 and R2 is supplied to the

In the color reading mode, since the switch Csw is OFF, the analog image signal divided by the resistance voltage dividing circuit (R1, R2) is applied to the
Vccd '= Vccd * R2 / (R1 + R2).
[0082]
In the monochrome reading mode, since the switch Csw is ON, the analog image signal Vccd that is the CCD output output is directly input to the

The white peak detection circuit 12d outputs image data representing a peak value within the range designated by the main scanning range designation signal xlgate and the sub scanning range designation signal SMPL in the image data output from the A / D converter 11f. It is detected and given to the CPU 12e. When the peak value (white peak value) is N, the target value (white peak target value) is M, and the current gain is g, the CPU 12e sets the gain Ga for setting the current peak value N to the target value M as follows. -Voltage division ratio of resistance voltage dividing circuit (R1, R2) (first example)-
R1 and R2 are set such that the partial pressure ratio R2 / (R1 + R2) is monochrome exposure time / color exposure time. Here, the exposure time is a one-line accumulation time for accumulating charges by photoelectrically converting one line of image light by the CCD 11a. In the monochrome reading mode, since the switch Csw is ON and the voltage dividing by the resistance voltage dividing circuit is not selected, the analog image signal (voltage) of the CCD 11a is input to the
Vccdbw = Vccd × R2 / (R1 + R2)
Therefore, the input voltage of the
Vccd ’= Vccdbw
The input voltage of the
Vccd ′ = Vccd × R2 / (R1 + R2)
Is equal to Therefore, when switching between the color reading mode with a long exposure time and the short monochrome reading mode, switching of gain is unnecessary or the amount of gain change is small. The necessary variable range of the gain of the

-Voltage division ratio of resistance voltage dividing circuit (R1, R2) (second example)-
In another example, the resistance voltage dividing ratio R2 / (R1 + R2) of the resistance voltage dividing circuit (R1, R2) is a value where the calculated gain Ga = g × M / N matches the lower limit value of the variable range of the
[0089]
Specifically, the color reading mode CCD output maximum value is Vccdmax, the gain variable range is 1 to 5, the target value is 200, and the reference voltage of the A / D conversion circuit 11f is Vref.
200 = Vccdmax × R2 / (R1 + R2) × 255 / Vref
Select values of R1 and R2 that satisfy.
[0090]
-Second Example-
The hardware of the second embodiment is the same as that of the first embodiment, but the A / D conversion characteristic adjustment executed by the CPU 12e is different from that of the first embodiment. FIG. 8 shows an outline of the A / D conversion characteristic adjustment performed by the CPU 12e of the second embodiment. A / D conversion is performed from the

Next, the CPU 12e of the second embodiment corresponds to the Color / BW signal indicating the mode designated on the

When the Color / BW signal indicates the color reading mode, the CPU 12e reads the reference
Vccd '= Vccd * R2 / (R1 + R2).
[0093]
The output Vccd ′ of the buffer amplifier 11b is amplified by the
D = 255 × Vin / Vref.
At this time, the white peak detection circuit 12d detects white peak data (14). When the peak data is Dp, the CPU 12e compares the peak data Dp with a target value (for example, 200 in the case of 8-bit data) (15), and switches the switch when the peak data Dp exceeds the target value. The signal Scb is switched to Low and the switch Csw is turned OFF (16).

The CPU 12e reads the reference
[0095]
In the case of the color reading mode, the analog image signal Vccd that is a CCD output is resistance-divided to the next Vccd 'and input to the
Vccd ′ = Vccd × R2 / (R1 + R2)
In the monochrome reading mode, the analog image signal Vccd, which is the CCD output output, is directly input to the
Vccd '= Vccd.
[0096]
The output Vccd ′ of the buffer amplifier 11b is amplified by the
D = 255 × Vin / Vref.
[0097]
The white peak detection circuit 12d outputs image data representing a peak value within the range designated by the main scanning range designation signal xlgate and the sub scanning range designation signal SMPL in the image data output from the A / D converter 11f. It is detected and given to the CPU 12e. When the peak value (white peak value) is N, the target value (white peak target value) is M, and the current gain is g, the CPU 12e sets the gain Ga for setting the current peak value N to the target value M as follows. To calculate
Ga = g × M / N
The gain control data (Vg) representing the gain Ga is switched and output to the D /
[0098]
Other functions and settings of the second embodiment are the same as those of the first embodiment. Also in the second embodiment, the analog image signal is A / D converted into image data using the data set by adjusting the A / D conversion characteristic and written in the nonvolatile memory 12g. Even if it fluctuates, the accuracy of the image data output from the A / D conversion circuit 11f after adjustment of the A / D conversion characteristics is high and stable.
[0099]
【The invention's effect】
Since the size of the analog image signal input to the variable gain amplifier (11d) can be switched, even when analog image signals with large variations are considered to be input to the variable gain amplifier, the amplification range of the variable gain amplifier A / D conversion data, that is, image data can be set to a target value.
