Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an electric power steering apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Electric power provided with a torque sensor for detecting a steering torque applied to the steering wheel, an electric motor for generating an assist torque for assisting the steering torque, and a controller for driving and controlling the electric motor based on the steering torque detected by the torque sensor Steering devices are known.
The control unit drives and controls the electric motor so that a larger assist torque is obtained as the steering torque detected by the torque sensor is larger.
The torque sensor outputs a voltage having a larger absolute value as the steering torque is larger. Ideally, the output voltage when the steering torque is zero is preferably zero. However, it is not ideal, and even when the steering torque is zero, a non-zero voltage may be output.
If there is an error in the output of the torque sensor, there is a problem if the motor is driven and controlled so that the assist torque can be obtained simply because the steering torque detected by the torque sensor is not zero. Although the steering torque is actually zero and the driver does not want to steer, the steering torque detected by the torque sensor is other than zero, so the electric motor generates assist torque. With this, the steering feeling is not good.
Therefore, the generation of the assist torque is prohibited while the absolute value of the steering torque detected by the torque sensor is equal to or less than the predetermined value, and the assist is performed only when the absolute value of the steering torque detected by the torque sensor is equal to or higher than the predetermined value. Torque is obtained. While the absolute value of the steering torque detected by the torque sensor is equal to or smaller than the predetermined value, the steering torque is artificially zero, and therefore the assist torque is zero. Even if the steering torque detected by the torque sensor is not zero, the range of the steering torque detected by the torque sensor that makes the assist torque zero is called a control dead zone.
The control dead zone is set in consideration of an error in the steering torque detected by the torque sensor. There are fixed errors and fluctuation errors. Fixed errors include mechanical assembly errors and electrical errors. As the fluctuation error, an error due to a temperature change and an error due to external noise can be considered. When the engine is started, there is often a large error in the detection value of the torque sensor due to external noise, and the control dead zone is set widely assuming this large error.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, when the control dead zone is set widely, there is a problem that the response of the assist torque is poor with respect to the steering torque intentionally applied by the driver.
[0004]
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described circumstances, and by providing a control dead zone without adding an assist torque unintended by the driver, yet when the driver intentionally adds steering torque, Provided is an electric power steering apparatus having good power assist responsiveness by obtaining an assist torque from within a small steering torque.
[0005]
[Means, actions and effects for solving problems]
An electric power steering apparatus according to the present invention drives a motor based on a torque sensor that detects steering torque applied to a steering wheel, an electric motor that generates assist torque to assist the steering torque, and the steering torque detected by the torque sensor. And a control unit for controlling. The control unit prohibits the generation of assist torque while the absolute value of the steering torque detected by the torque sensor is equal to or less than a predetermined value, and the torque when the absolute value of the steering torque detected by the torque sensor is equal to or greater than the predetermined value. A means for driving and controlling the electric motor so as to obtain a larger assist torque as the steering torque detected by the sensor is larger, and a means for correcting the output value of the torque sensor to a zero point are provided. Further, the first predetermined value is adopted as the predetermined value until the torque sensor output value is corrected to the zero point, and after the torque sensor output value is corrected to the zero point, the predetermined value is set to the predetermined value from the first predetermined value. Is also provided with means for adopting a small second predetermined value.
The steering torque T detected by the torque sensor is calculated as a function of the output value V of the torque sensor. That is, T = f (V). Usually, a proportional expression is established, and T = kV (k is a proportional constant) is calculated.
As described above, ideally, the output voltage when the steering torque is zero is preferably zero. However, it is not ideal and often outputs a non-zero voltage even when the steering torque is zero. Accordingly, the output voltage of the steering torque is corrected to zero so that a result equivalent to the output voltage being zero when the steering torque is zero can be obtained. That is, the calculation is performed with T = k (V−α). Here, if the value of α is set appropriately, a result equivalent to the output voltage being zero when the steering torque is zero should be obtained.
Here, the means for correcting the output value of the torque sensor to zero point means means for calculating or updating the value of α. The output voltage of the torque sensor that is output when the steering torque should be zero is detected, and if the value is α1, the value of α is set to α1, thereby outputting when the steering torque is zero. A result equivalent to the voltage being zero can be obtained.
Since the value of α varies with time, it needs to be updated. When the engine is started, the value of α is not calculated, or an incorrect value before update is stored, and zero point correction is not performed.
In the electric power steering apparatus of the present invention, while the zero point correction of the torque sensor is not performed, a relatively large dead zone is taken into consideration that a large error may exist in the steering torque detected by the torque sensor. Is used. This prevents the motor from generating assist torque even though the steering torque is actually zero and the driver does not want to steer.
On the other hand, after the zero point correction of the torque sensor is performed and a large error does not exist in the steering torque detected by the torque sensor, the width of the dead zone is narrowed. Even if it is narrowed, the error is small because the zero point correction of the torque sensor has been completed, and in reality the steering torque is greater than the dead zone even though the steering torque is zero and the driver does not want to steer. It will never be detected. Since the dead zone is narrow, when the driver intentionally applies the steering torque, the assist torque is obtained from the small steering torque, and the power assist response is high.
[0006]
The zero point correction means calculates an integral value of the steering torque input during a period in which the steering torque detected by the torque sensor does not continuously exceed the predetermined value, and divides the calculated integral value by the integration period to obtain zero. It is preferable to calculate the point correction amount.
When the vehicle is traveling straight ahead, for example, only a small steering torque is applied to keep the vehicle going straight. In this case, a period in which the steering torque does not continuously exceed the predetermined value occurs. It can be said that the steering torque applied during this period is for maintaining straight travel and is applied symmetrically. Therefore, if the steering torque detected by the torque sensor is accurate, the integrated value of the steering torque input during a period not continuously exceeding the predetermined value should be zero. That this is not zero means that the output value of the torque sensor when the actual steering torque is zero is not zero. If the integral value is not zero, the output value of the torque sensor when the actual steering torque is zero can be calculated by dividing the integral value by the integration period. The value thus determined is α, and thereafter, the steering torque is calculated with T = k (V−α), so that the output value of the torque sensor becomes zero when the actual steering torque is zero. The same result can be obtained.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The above-described electric power steering apparatus according to the present invention is suitably implemented in the form shown below.
(Embodiment 1) The electric power steering apparatus includes a steering shaft that transmits steering torque of the steering wheel, and a rack shaft that converts the steering torque of the steering shaft into a sliding motion and transmits the slide motion to the wheels.
(Mode 2) The torque sensor detects the steering torque from the degree of twisting of the steering shaft.
(Mode 3) The assist torque generated by the electric motor assists the sliding movement of the rack shaft.
(Mode 4) The control unit stores a graph with time as the horizontal axis and the input steering torque as the vertical axis.
(Mode 5) When the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of the steering torque input during the predetermined period is less than the predetermined value, the control unit determines that the vehicle is traveling straight ahead during the predetermined period.

If the process of step S12 is performed or if YES is determined in step S10, then a correction for narrowing the control dead zone is performed (step S14). By performing this processing, the control dead zone (range from -b to b) shown in FIG. 2 is changed to the control dead zone (range from -c to c) shown in FIG. The processing in step S14 is performed by rewriting the control dead zone stored in the RAM. By correcting the control dead zone, the control pattern in which the
Note that the process of step S14 is not executed when the control dead zone is narrowed to the minimum. When the ignition of the vehicle is ON, the control dead zone is set as wide as possible. If the control dead zone is corrected to the minimum while the vehicle continues to travel, correction for narrowing the control dead zone is not performed thereafter.

In addition, since the control dead zone is corrected to be as narrow as possible, when the driver intentionally applies steering torque, the assist torque can be obtained from within the small steering torque, and the power assist response Is expensive.
