この種の偏平縫いミシンを用いて上記のような生地を縫製する際、針板の下部に配置された可動送り歯のみによって生地に強制送り作用を与えるものでは、生地の上部布に対する上記生地押えによる押し付け力により引張り作用が働くために、上部布の送りが下部布の送りに対して遅れてしまう、いわゆる縫いずれを生じる。このような縫いずれを防止する手段として、従来、例えば実公昭54−2733号公報などに開示されているような構成のものが提案されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
上記のような構成及び機能を有する従来の偏平縫いミシンによれば、縫いずれの発生を防止することが可能であるけれども、可動送り歯2a,2b及び該送り歯2a,2bによる生地送り動作に対応して縫製方向aの前後に作動する生地押え4による強制送り領域を出た直後の生地Wには送り力が働いていないため、作業者が手を使って送りを補助してやらない限り、上記強制送り領域の直後で縫製済み生地Wが停滞気味となり、それが原因で生地押え4の直後位置に図4に示したような生地盛り上がり部W1が生じ、それを放置したままにしておくと、遂には強制送り作用にも支障を来し、所定の縫製が行なえなくなるという問題があった。特に、図4に例示したように、生地押え作動機構5におけるアーム7を縫製方向aに向けて斜め下方へ延出させて該アーム7の上部に上飾り用の回転体設置用スペースを確保するような構成を採用しているため、上記の生地盛り上がり部W1がその傾斜アーム7の下端部に当接して早期のうちに送りが阻害されてしまうという問題があった。
