【0001】

そして、垂直同期信号Aと正数倍信号Dとが同期するため、モータ位相情報B(すなわち、スクロール円盤4の回転)と正数倍信号D(すなわち、光源1における瞬時光量増加の周期)とが同期する。
【0032】

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, a light valve used in a projection display apparatus is generally a hold-type element that holds display information for one frame period, and such a display element is generally blurred when displaying a moving image. So-called blurring phenomenon occurs. The present applicant, as a projection-type image display device that can eliminate such drawbacks, includes a rotationally-driven light deflecting unit that causes cyclic deflection of the light when the irradiated light is received and transmitted and / or reflected. Color separating means for separating the light from the light deflecting means into the three primary colors and directing the light to the three hold type display elements, and the projection means for combining and projecting the color image lights obtained through the hold type display elements, Element driving means for applying a pixel drive signal to each hold-type display element, and each color light collected in an area smaller than the element on each hold-type display element is cyclically scrolled. A projection display apparatus has been proposed (Japanese Patent Application No. 2002-295354). In such a projection display apparatus, for example, as shown in FIG. 14 (a), each color light is generated by rotating a
[0010]
However, as shown in FIGS. 14B and 15A and 15B, mainly because the shapes of the first transmission part A and the second transmission part B cannot be strictly matched. The amount of light arriving at the display element differs between the odd field and the even field. In addition, as shown in FIG. 16A, when the light source is pulse-driven, an instantaneous light amount increase corresponding to the pulse period occurs. Therefore, even if the light quantity control in the first transmission part A and the second transmission part B can be strictly matched, as shown in FIG. 16B, the variation in the overlap of the instantaneous light quantity increasing portions at the illumination timing of each field. As a result, the amount of light arriving at the display element differs in each field. Thus, if the brightness of the projected image on the screen changes in one field period, it causes the viewer to feel flicker.
[0011]
In view of the above circumstances, an object of the present invention is to provide a projection display apparatus capable of reducing flicker in a configuration in which optical scrolling is performed on a display element.
[0014]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In addition, the projection display apparatus of the present invention includes a rotation driving type light deflecting unit that causes cyclic deflection of the irradiated light when it is transmitted and / or reflected, and the three primary colors of light. Color separation means for separating the light into three hold type display elements, projecting means for combining and projecting the color image lights obtained through the respective hold type display elements, and a pixel drive signal for each hold type display element. Element driving means for providing, and each color light collected in an area smaller than the element on each hold type display element is cyclically scrolled, and the light deflection means includes two or more light deflection means. And two or more different scroll lights are periodically generated, and the luminance value correction corresponding to each scroll light is performed for the input video signal for each irradiation period of the two or more different scroll lights. To do Characterized by comprising a signal correcting means.
[0015]
With the above configuration, even if scroll light having two or more different light amounts is generated periodically, the difference can be eliminated by correcting the luminance of the video signal, so that occurrence of flicker can be prevented.
[0016]
In the projection display apparatus having the above-described video signal correction function, the video signal correction means includes a means for inputting the video signal and controlling the rotational drive of the light deflecting means in synchronization with the synchronization signal. A plurality of correction tables corresponding to the two or more scroll lights, the correction table is selected based on phase information in the rotation of the light deflecting means, and the address is generated based on the synchronization signal in the video signal. It is preferable that the correction data is read from the correction table. Further, in this configuration, the correction table is generated based on the imaging unit, the luminance information of each region obtained when the predetermined image is projected on the screen obtained by the imaging unit, and the phase information in the rotation of the light deflection unit. If it is the structure provided with a means, it can respond to a secular change.
[0017]
The correction table may be configured to also serve as a correction table for color unevenness correction.

The correction values of the first table and the second table in the conversion table 27 are generated as follows. For example, at the time of shipment inspection of a liquid crystal projector, for example, a white image is projected on each liquid crystal projector, and the projected image is imaged by an imaging unit (CCD camera or the like), and each pixel or area is determined based on luminance information of the captured image Each correction value is generated.
