Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an apparatus that is provided in an electronic still camera and selects a light source of a shooting environment in order to adjust white balance for an image obtained by shooting.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Illumination light, that is, a light source in a photographing environment using an electronic still camera is various, such as sunlight, a fluorescent lamp, and a tungsten lamp. Therefore, conventionally, the operation mode of white balance adjustment can be selected between auto (automatic), white balance adjustment mode, manual (manual), and white balance adjustment mode. There has been proposed an electronic still camera that can be manually selected in accordance with the illumination light in the white balance adjustment mode. That is, it is manually switched between the indoor mode and the outdoor mode by the photographer, and in the indoor mode, it is determined that one of the light sources such as a fluorescent lamp, a tungsten lamp, and a halogen lamp is used. The white balance is adjusted according to the light source.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, such a switching operation is complicated, and if the switching operation is forgotten, there is a problem that appropriate white balance adjustment cannot be performed.
[0004]
An object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus for selecting a light source of a shooting environment in order to enable quick and reliable white balance adjustment in manual operation.
[0005]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The light source selection device according to the present invention includes an arrangement location estimating means for estimating whether an electronic still camera is arranged indoors or outdoors, and an indoor that preferentially selects a light source for indoor photography over a light source for outdoor photography. First light source selection means for selecting the type of light source for the shooting environment according to the priority mode, and light source for the shooting environment according to the outdoor priority mode for selecting the light source for outdoor shooting in preference to the light source for indoor shooting A second light source selection means for selecting the type of the light source, and a mode selection means for selecting one of the first and second light source selection means in accordance with the placement location estimated by the placement location estimation means. It is a feature.
[0006]
The placement location estimation means includes, for example, distance measurement means for measuring the distance from the top surface of the electronic still camera to the obstacle. In this configuration, the location of the electronic still camera is estimated based on the measurement result of the distance to the obstacle. In this configuration, the mode selection means selects the first light source selection means when the distance measured by the distance measurement means is smaller than a predetermined value, and the distance measured by the distance measurement means is less than the predetermined value. It is preferable to select the second light source selection means when the value is larger.
[0007]
On the other hand, the arrangement location estimating means may include illuminance measuring means for measuring the illuminance of light around the electronic still camera. In this configuration, the location of the electronic still camera is estimated based on the measurement result of the distance to the obstacle. In the case of this configuration, the mode selecting means selects the first light source selecting means when the illuminance measured by the illuminance measuring means is smaller than a predetermined value, and the illuminance measured by the illuminance measuring means is more than the predetermined value. It is preferable to select the second light source selection means when the value is larger.
