【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an antenna device capable of electrically changing a radiation pattern and a wireless communication device equipped with the antenna device.
[0002]
[Prior art]
A wireless communication device such as a mobile phone device has a plurality of usage states such as a state where a call is made using the device as a handset, and a state where an electronic mail is read and written.
[0003]
In such a plurality of use states, the relative orientation of the antenna with respect to the ground changes. As a result, the directivity of the radiation pattern of the antenna is directed in a different direction depending on the use state, and the polarization direction when the ground is used as a reference changes. Therefore, when an antenna is configured to realize optimal directivity and polarization characteristics in a certain use state, the directivity and polarization characteristics may not be optimal in other use states.
[0004]
In order to solve such a problem, an antenna capable of changing the directivity is known (for example, see Patent Document 1).

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the conventional antenna, what is variable is the radiation pattern, and the polarization characteristics cannot be changed.
[0008]
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide an antenna device capable of changing polarization characteristics and a wireless communication device equipped with the antenna device.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides an excitation element disposed in a first direction and connected to a radio circuit, and second and third orthogonal to the first direction and orthogonal to each other. A non-exciting element having first and second conductive linear elements arranged in each direction and joined to each other, and coupled to the excitation element via a space; and the first and second conductive elements First and second variable impedance elements inserted in the middle of each of the linear elements, and control means for controlling the impedances of the first and second variable impedance elements in accordance with desired polarization characteristics; An antenna device was configured.
In order to achieve the above object, another aspect of the present invention is directed to an exciting element connected to a radio circuit and first to third elements arranged in first to third directions orthogonal to each other and joined to each other. A non-excitation element having a conductive linear element and coupled to the excitation element via a space, and first to third inserted in the middle of each of the first to third conductive linear elements. The antenna apparatus is configured to include a variable impedance element and a control unit that controls the impedance of the first to third variable impedance elements in accordance with desired polarization characteristics.
In order to achieve the above object, another aspect of the present invention comprises a radio communication apparatus including the antenna apparatus having any one of the above-described configurations.
In order to achieve the above object, another aspect of the present invention provides an antenna device having any one of the above-described configurations, a circuit board on which the radio circuit is mounted, the antenna device being disposed with one surface facing the antenna device, A wireless communication device is configured including a receiving unit that is disposed on the opposite side of the antenna device with the circuit board interposed therebetween and outputs a received voice.
[0010]
By taking such a means, the excitation element and the non-excitation element are coupled through the space, and radiation is performed by the excitation element and the non-excitation element. Here, by controlling the impedance of the variable impedance element, each current distribution of the plurality of linear elements can be individually changed, and a desired polarization characteristic can be obtained.

Hereinafter, a change in directivity will be described.
The minimum condition for controlling the antenna directivity is to control the amplitude and phase of two spatially separated radiation sources. Due to the relationship between the amplitude and phase of the two radiation sources, radio waves are combined in one direction and cancel each other in the other direction. As a result, directional characteristics are formed. If the amplitude and phase can be controlled in a plurality of states, a plurality of directivity characteristics can be realized. Note that the distance between the two radiation sources is determined by the beam width of the directional characteristic to be realized.
[0033]
In the antenna device according to the second embodiment, the directivity characteristics regarding the direction in which the linear elements are directed can be changed by appropriately controlling the amplitude and phase of the pair of linear elements. For example, the directivity characteristics in the X-axis direction can be changed by controlling the amplitude and phase of the linear element 2a and the linear element 5a. The use state determination unit 14 selects a polarization characteristic and directivity characteristic suitable for the determined use state, and notifies the
[0063]
Note that the correspondence between the usage state and the polarization characteristics and directivity characteristics is determined in advance by conditions such as the type of antenna used in the base station, the frequency of radio waves used, or the radio system used. For example, if the polarization of the base station is vertical to the ground, the vertical polarization is optimal for the wireless communication apparatus. Further, if the height of the base station and the wireless communication device from the ground is substantially the same, the directivity may be oriented in the horizontal direction with respect to the ground.

Note that the insertion location of the variable impedance element may be determined according to the type and number of current distributions to be realized. However, the effect is small if the variable impedance elements are too close or too far apart.
