Description
【0001】

The thickness is preferably 0.1 μm or less. Therefore, the average particle diameter of the inorganic oxide fine particles is preferably 0.001 to 1 μm, and more preferably 0.005 to 0.1 μm. Here, the average particle diameter is a volume average particle diameter.
[0025]
The raw material mixture composed of the kneaded material and the inorganic oxide fine particles is preferably a mixture obtained by externally adding the inorganic oxide fine particles to the kneaded material using, for example, a mixer capable of high-speed stirring such as a Henschel mixer or a super mixer. .
[0026]
The blending amount of the inorganic oxide fine particles is preferably 0.3 to 2 parts by weight, more preferably 0.5 to 1.5 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the kneaded material, from the viewpoint of the pulverization efficiency and yield of the toner. preferable.
[0027]
In the present invention, in the step of classifying the raw material mixture obtained by mixing the kneaded material and the inorganic oxide fine particles, the classification step has two or more classification steps, and the previous classification step (upper classification step) When the raw material mixture is supplied to a classification step in which the upper classification powder obtained by (1) is supplied to the next classification step (lower classification step) and classification is performed, the supply position is greatly characterized.
[0028]
The classifier used in the classification step may be either an airflow type or a sieve type, but is preferably an airflow type classifier. Examples of the airflow type classifier include “DS” (manufactured by Nippon Pneumatic Co., Ltd.), “Elbow” Jet ”(manufactured by Matsubo),“ TTSP ”(manufactured by Hosokawa Micron),“ turbo classifier ”(manufactured by Nissin Engineering Co., Ltd.), etc., among these, “DS” (manufactured by Nippon Pneumatic Co., Ltd.), which has a classification chamber for classifying the dispersed powder and classifies the powder in an air flow according to the following principle, is preferable.
[0029]
An exhaust pipe for sucking ultrafine powder is provided at the upper part of the dispersion chamber of the air classifier, and the ultrafine powder is first removed from the powder supplied into the dispersion chamber. Powder other than ultrafine powder descends while swirling along the conical guide plate, guided to the classification plate directly under the guide plate, and by the centrifugal force, the fine powder moves to the center of the classification plate and opens to the center. It is sucked into the part and collected by the cyclone. On the other hand, the coarse powder moves to the outer periphery of the classification plate and is discharged from the classifier.
[0030]
Conventionally, the raw material used for the classification step is first supplied to the first upper limit classification step, but when using a raw material mixture in which the kneaded material is mixed with inorganic oxide fine particles for the purpose of improving pulverization and classification efficiency, In the upper limit classification step, nearly half of the inorganic oxide fine particles are sucked and removed together with the ultrafine powder from the exhaust pipe. Therefore, in the subsequent classification step, the inorganic oxide fine particles are insufficient and sufficient classification accuracy cannot be ensured.
[0031]
Therefore, in the present invention, at least one classification step, the raw material mixture is mixed with the upper classification powder, and preferably the lower classification step so that the raw material mixture is mixed with the upper classification powder between the upper classification step and the lower classification step. By supplying to, the shortage of inorganic oxide fine particles as described above does not occur, and the generation of ultrafine powder in the lower classification step can be remarkably reduced.
[0032]
In the present invention, from the viewpoint of production efficiency, the raw material mixture can be supplied to the next classification step together with the first upper limit classification powder obtained by the first upper limit classification step (first upper limit classification step) through the entire classification step. preferable. Further, the first upper limit classification step is preferably the first classification step through all the classification steps, and the next classification step after the first upper limit classification step is also the upper limit classification step (second upper limit classification step). preferable.
[0033]
In the present invention, the raw material mixture is supplied to the next classification step together with the first upper limit classification powder, and the first upper limit classification powder from which the inorganic oxide fine particles have been removed in the first upper limit classification step is used in a large amount of inorganic oxide fine particles. The first upper limit classified powder in which a part of the inorganic oxide fine particles contained in the raw material mixture is reduced in size by the pulverization and classification, and the specific surface area is increased by mixing with the contained raw material mixture. To be supplied. In the second upper limit classification step, the first upper limit classification powder supplemented with the inorganic oxide fine particles sufficiently disperses the coarse powder and fine powder in the dispersion chamber of the classifier, and as a result, the classification in the second upper limit classification step. The accuracy is improved, and excessive over-pulverization of the particles is reduced without returning the particles having a desired particle size to the first upper limit classification step.
[0034]
In addition, from the viewpoint of production efficiency, the coarse powder discharged by the first upper limit classification process is preferably pulverized and returned to the first upper limit classification process to perform classification again, and the coarse powder discharged by the second upper limit classification process. It is preferable to return to the first upper limit classification step and perform classification again.
[0035]
In the present invention, as long as the classification step has at least two classification steps, the number of classification steps is not particularly limited, but has at least two upper limit classification steps and one lower limit classification step. Preferably, the first classification step and the next classification step are upper limit classification steps, the third classification step is a lower limit classification step, and further between the first upper limit classification step and the second upper limit classification step The aspect which has is more preferable. In the present invention, the upper limit classification step refers to a classification step aimed at removing particles that are relatively larger than the desired particle size, and the lower limit classification step refers to particles that are relatively smaller than the desired particle size. Refers to the classification process for the purpose of removal.
[0036]
The volume average particle size of the toner obtained by the present invention is preferably about 3 to 20 μm, but the effect of the present invention is more remarkable particularly when producing a small particle size toner having a volume average particle size of about 4 to 6 μm. Is obtained.

【Example】
[Softening point]
Using a Koka type flow tester (manufactured by Shimadzu Corporation, CFT-500D), the temperature at which half of the resin flows out is defined as the softening point (sample: 1 g, heating rate: 6 ° C./min, load: 1.96 MPa, nozzle : 1 mmφ × 1 mm).
[0038]
[Glass transition point]
A differential scanning calorimeter (manufactured by Seiko Denshi Kogyo Co., Ltd., DSC210) is used to measure at a heating rate of 10 ° C./min.
[0039]
[Acid value and hydroxyl value]
It is measured by the method of JIS K0070.
[0040]
Resin Production Example 350 g of polyoxypropylene (2.2) -2,2-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) propane, 975 g of polyoxyethylene (2.2) -2,2-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) propane, terephthalate A mixture of 299 g of acid, 2 g of trimellitic acid and 4 g of dibutyltin oxide was reacted under a nitrogen atmosphere at 230 ° C. until the softening point reached 113 ° C. to obtain Resin A as a white solid. Resin A had a glass transition point of 66 ° C., a softening point of 113 ° C., an acid value of 6.0 mgKOH / g, and a hydroxyl value of 39.2 mgKOH / g.
[0041]
Production Example of Raw Material Mixture 100 parts by weight of resin A, 6 parts by weight of colorant “dimethylquinacridone” (manufactured by Dainichi Seika Co., Ltd.), 6 parts by weight of mold release agent “Carnauba wax C1” (manufactured by Hiroyuki Kato) and charge control agent 3 parts by weight of Bontron E-84 (made by Orient Chemical Co., Ltd.) was premixed with a Henschel mixer and then melt-kneaded with a twin screw extruder.
[0042]
The obtained melt-kneaded product was cooled and coarsely crushed to a size of 2 mm or less using a sieve having a mesh size of 2 mm with a pulverizer “Rotoplex” (manufactured by Hosokawa Micron). 0.5 parts by weight of hydrophobic silica “Aerosil R972” (manufactured by Nippon Aerosil Co., Ltd., average particle size: 16 nm) is added to 100 parts by weight of the roughly crushed kneaded product, and the mixture is stirred and mixed at 1500 r / min for 1 minute by a Henschel mixer. Thus, a raw material mixture was obtained.
[0043]
Example 1 and Comparative Example 1
The raw material mixture was supplied to the classification line shown in FIG. In FIG. 1, a DS2 type airflow classifier manufactured by Nippon Pneumatic Co., Ltd. is used as the first upper limit classifier 1, and a DS2 type airflow classifier manufactured by Nippon Pneumatic Co., Ltd. is used as the second upper limit classifier 2. As the machine 3, a DSX2 type airflow classifier manufactured by Nippon Pneumatic Co., Ltd. was used with the inclination angles of the guide plate and the classification plate adjusted to the angles shown in Table 1, respectively.

[0046]
The pulverizer 10 for pulverizing the coarse powder discharged from the first upper limit classifier 1 and supplying it to the first upper limit classifier 1 again is an I2 type collision plate jet mill manufactured by Nippon Pneumatic Co., Ltd. Was replaced with a semi-cylindrical collision member obtained by bisecting a cylinder having a perfect circle with a radius of 10 mm as a bottom surface perpendicularly to the bottom surface. The pulverization conditions were adjusted such that the supply amount of coarse powder was 3.0 kg / h, the pulverization air pressure was 0.5 Mp, and the distance between the collision plate and the nozzle was 20 mm.
[0047]
In the above classification line, in Example 1, from the position A between the cyclone 7 that collects the first upper limit classifying powder and the second upper limit classifier 2, in Comparative Example 1, the raw material supply port B of the first upper limit classifier. From the position, the raw material mixture was supplied to obtain the final classified powder.
[0048]
The volume average particle size of the final classified powder, the content of the powder having a particle size of 5 μm or less in the second upper limit classified powder, the second upper limit classified powder obtained within a predetermined time (10 minutes from the start of supply of the raw material mixture) Table 2 shows the recovery rate (weight ratio of the raw material mixture supplied to the second upper limit classifier / first upper limit classifier).
[0049]
[Table 2]
[0050]
From the above results, in Example 1, the content (31.7%) of the powder having a particle size of 5 μm or less in the second upper limit classified powder is remarkably small as compared with Comparative Example 1 (57.8%). From this, it is estimated that the load of the next lower limit classification is greatly reduced.
Further, in Comparative Example 1, the recovery rate (20.6%) of the second upper limit classified powder within a predetermined time is much lower than that in Example 1 (95.6%). It is estimated that the powder stays in the classifier due to deterioration or poor dispersion of fine powder and coarse powder.
[0051]
Furthermore, the inside of the second upper limit classifier used in Example 1 was kept clean as if it was cleaned as compared with that used in Comparative Example 1. This is because the raw material mixture has a coarse particle size and not only does not disturb the classification accuracy of the first upper limit classified powder in the second upper limit classification process, but also because of the roughness of the particle size, the wall surface in the second upper limit classifier and the surface of the main part It has been found that this is because the powder is prevented from adhering to the surface, and this is further presumed to contribute to the improvement of the classification accuracy in the second upper limit classification step.
[0052]
【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, generation of ultra fine powder in the classification process can be reduced, classification efficiency can be improved, and toner can be produced efficiently.
