【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a developing device that forms an image using toner, and more particularly to a developing device characterized by a seal member that is in sliding contact with a toner carrier.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a developing device that visualizes an image using powder toner, generally, a latent layer formed on the surface of a photoreceptor is formed by forming a thin layer by charging the toner to a predetermined polarity on the entire effective image area on the toner carrier. The toner is transported and developed so that an image having a constant contrast can be continuously formed on the image. After the development, a seal member is provided so that the toner does not scatter and fall from the developing device. The toner carrier was placed in sliding contact.
[0003]
On the other hand, unlike a seal member disposed in sliding contact with a toner carrier, a seal member that is disposed in non-contact with the toner carrier and applies a predetermined voltage during image formation has also been proposed. In other words, the toner scatters due to the vibration.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Therefore, in small copiers and printers, a seal member disposed in sliding contact with the toner carrier is often used. However, the seal member is not limited to preventing toner scattering, and the toner is not visible. It is required to prevent clogging and to prevent accumulation of electric charges caused by friction.
[0005]
The present invention has been made in view of the above, and an object of the present invention is to provide a developing device that can prevent toner from being clogged or accumulating charges.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, a first aspect of the present invention is directed to a toner carrier that transports toner, a regulating member that forms a thin toner layer on the toner carrier, and an external portion from the toner carrier. In the developing device having a seal member for preventing the toner from scattering, the toner carrier has a conductive rubber fixed around a metal shaft that supports the toner carrier, and the surface layer is coated. A diode element having a cathode connected to the metal shaft and an anode connected to the seal member; and a bias power supply that applies a predetermined negative voltage to the metal shaft, and the toner includes: It is charged negatively by being sandwiched between the regulating member and the toner carrying member and rubbing, and the seal member is made of urethane resin, silicon resin Or a plate-like conductive resin in which conductive fine powder is dispersed in a polyethylene resin, wherein the surface roughness Rz (JIS ten-point average surface roughness) is smaller than the volume average particle diameter of the toner, It is characterized by being disposed so as to be in sliding contact with the surface layer of the toner carrier.
[0007]
According to this configuration, since the surface roughness Rz (JIS ten-point average surface roughness) of the seal member is configured to be smaller than the volume average particle diameter of the toner, the toner is not clogged.
[0008]
In addition, the seal member is formed of a conductive and flexible member, and the seal member is in sliding contact with the toner carrying member with an appropriate bending force. Since charges generated by sliding contact with the carrier do not accumulate in the seal member, there is no adverse effect due to static electricity. Further, a potential difference is provided between the seal member and the toner carrying member, and the toner can be charged negatively and supplied to the toner carrying member, thereby reducing fog.
[0009]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Therefore, the embodiment illustrated below will be described. FIG. 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing a first embodiment of the developing device of the present invention.
[0010]
In the figure,
[0011]
In the figure, reference numeral 14 denotes a magnet roller disposed inside the toner carrier 13, which restrains the
[0012]
Reference numeral 17 is a developing bias power source for applying a developing bias voltage to the toner carrier 13, the developing bias power supply 17, the voltage of the toner carrying of the DC voltage of -350~-550V by superimposing an AC voltage of 1500V pp The developing bias power supply 17 is also connected to the seal member 16 and applied to the body 13 to promote the visualization of the latent image by the
[0013]
The seal member 16 is disposed so as to be in sliding contact with the toner carrier 13 at a pressure of 5 to 30 g / cm, preferably 10 to 20 g / cm, and smoothly collects the
[0014]
As described above, the seal member 16 is flexible for lightly sliding contact with the toner carrier 13, conductivity for preventing charge accumulation, and friction charging for frictionally charging the
[0015]
For example, when the toner is negatively charged, the sealing member 16 is a plate-like resin such as urethane resin, silicon resin, or polyethylene resin, or a plate-like material in which conductive fine powder such as carbon black is dispersed in these resins. When using a thin metal leaf spring made of conductive resin, stainless steel, phosphor bronze, etc., or a multilayer thin leaf spring combining these, moderate flexibility and conductivity can be obtained, and the toner can be negatively rubbed. Can be charged.
[0016]
When the toner is positively charged, the sealing member 16 is made of a plate-like resin such as a fluororesin, or a plate-like conductive resin in which conductive fine powder such as carbon black is dispersed in these resins, or A multilayer thin leaf spring combining these can be used.
[0017]
Note that the surface roughness Rz (JIS ten-point average surface roughness) of the seal member 16 is configured to be smaller than the volume average particle diameter of the toner so that the toner does not clog, and is adhesive like rubber. In the case of using a base material having high properties, the toner can be smoothly brought into sliding contact by coating the surface with a substance having a low coefficient of friction. As the toner, magnetic or non-magnetic toner using styrene acrylic resin or polyester resin as a base material can be used.
[0018]
Like the seal member 16, the regulating
[0019]
Therefore, according to this embodiment, the toner remaining on the toner carrier 13 after development can be recharged by the seal member 16, and fogging can be reduced. Further, such a configuration is simple and suitable for miniaturization because the developing bias power source can be used as it is.
[0020]
FIG. 2 shows a second embodiment in which the present invention is further developed and the toner supply member is disposed adjacent to the toner carrier.

Of course, in the present invention, it is possible to apply a bias voltage of an appropriate magnitude that improves the charging of the toner and reduces the fog to the seal member. Therefore, it is conceivable to provide a bias power source dedicated to the seal member. However, such a configuration has problems such as an increase in the cost and occupied volume of the device, so that a constant voltage element represented by a resistor or a diode is used without using a dedicated power source. An embodiment in which a bias voltage is applied to the seal member will be described below with reference to FIGS.
[0032]
FIG. 4 shows a fourth embodiment in which the embodiment shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 of the present invention is applied and the bias voltage of the seal member is separated using a supply bias power source.
[0033]
Since the configuration of this apparatus is similar to that of the above-described embodiment, members having the same name and substantially the same function are denoted by the same reference numerals and description thereof is omitted.

In FIG. 4,

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the first aspect of the invention, the seal member is configured such that the surface roughness Rz (JIS ten-point average surface roughness) is smaller than the volume average particle diameter of the toner. It is possible to prevent the toner from being clogged.
[0045]
In addition, since the seal member is made of a conductive and flexible member, the seal member is in sliding contact with the toner carrier by an appropriate bending force to reliably prevent toner scattering and to carry the toner. Since charges generated by sliding contact with the body do not accumulate in the seal member, it is possible to prevent adverse effects on other members due to static electricity. Further, a potential difference is provided between the seal member and the toner carrying member, and the toner can be charged negatively and supplied to the toner carrying member, thereby reducing fog.
