BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a video signal processing control device in a video display device such as a display monitor, and more particularly to a contour correction device that adds undershoot and overshoot to the edge of a video signal as contour correction to make the contour stand out and increase visibility.

FIG. 7 is a block diagram showing a configuration of a conventional contour correction apparatus. The contour correction device shown in FIG. 7 is a device that performs contour correction of a video signal such as a television receiver. As shown in the figure, an input video signal S20 obtained from the video

FIG. 8 is a timing chart showing the contour correcting operation of the contour correcting apparatus of FIG. As shown in the figure, the contour correction signal S23 is obtained by the addition / subtraction processing of the signals S20 to S22 described above, and the corrected video signal S25 is obtained by adding the delayed video signal S21 and the contour correction signal S23.
[0009]
Also, video display devices that display video signals of a wide range of dot clocks (clocks for displaying one dot), such as personal computer display monitors, are generally synchronized horizontally with three video signals of red, green, and blue. When the contour correction device shown in FIG. 7 is used for such a display monitor or the like, the contour correction shown in FIG. 7 is performed for each of the three video signals of red, green, and blue. The contour correction is performed by the apparatus.
[0010]
Therefore, the contour correction method of the conventional contour correction device works effectively for video signals of the same dot clock, that is, video signals having a constant maximum display resolution and a small time width for changing the contour correction amount.
[0011]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, for a wide range of dot clock video signals of about 20 MHz to 250 MHz, the time width of the change in the contour correction amount is too large. Therefore, the contour correction using the delay circuit of the conventional contour correction device causes a delay error. It is difficult to avoid deterioration of the contour correction accuracy, and there is a problem that it is almost impossible to perform contour correction at a practical level because it causes a significant deterioration in the visibility of the contour-corrected video.
[0012]
Further, the conventional contour correction apparatus only estimates the count number obtained by cutting the differential pulse of the luminance signal by a predetermined threshold as the resolution, and there is a problem in the reliability of the detection accuracy of the resolution itself.
[0013]
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a contour correction apparatus capable of performing appropriate contour correction on video signals having a wide range of resolution.
[0014]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
According to a first aspect of the present invention, there is provided a contour correction device for generating a contour correction signal which receives an input video signal and outputs a contour correction signal related to a differential video signal obtained by differentiating the input video signal. A signal adding means for receiving the input video signal and the contour correction signal, adding the input video signal and the contour correction signal, and outputting a contour corrected video signal; A generating unit configured to determine a tailing time width based on a maximum display resolution of the input video signal; and generating a differential video signal by differentiating the input video signal so that the tailing time width is generated. The contour correction amount determination means further determines a correction amplitude amount based on the maximum display resolution, and the contour correction signal generation means determines the correction amplitude amount. Tsu as di change occurs, which further comprises an amplitude amount adjusting means for outputting said contour correcting signal the differential video signal and amplitude adjustment.

FIG. 5 is a waveform diagram showing the contour correcting operation of the contour correcting apparatus according to the present embodiment. As shown in the figure, the contour correction signal S8 is a signal obtained by differentiating the input video signal S2 by the contour tailing time width t and the contour correction amplitude amount, and the input video signal S2 and the contour correction signal S8 are added. It can be seen that the obtained contour-corrected video signal S9 is a signal to which an overshoot that emphasizes the rising edge of the input video signal S2 and an undershoot that emphasizes the falling edge are added.
[0036]
Thus, the present embodiment detects the maximum display resolution based on the frequency of the input synchronization signal S1. Since the maximum display resolution of the video signal of a display monitor of a personal computer is uniquely determined by the frequency of the synchronization signal (horizontal synchronization signal or vertical synchronization signal), the
[0037]
As a result, contour enhancement with an appropriate contour tailing time width t and contour correction amplitude amount h is performed according to the maximum display resolution of the input video signal S2, so that accurate contour correction can be performed.
[0038]
In addition, in the present embodiment, the contour tailing time width t is changed by changing the resistance value of the CR differentiating circuit. Therefore, the dot clock frequency fluctuates by about 20 MHz to 250 MHz and the maximum of the input video signal S2 is changed. Even if the display resolution varies over a wide range, an appropriate contour tailing time can be obtained by outputting the control signal S4A to the gate of the
[0039]
As a result, since it is possible to set an appropriate contour tailing time width t corresponding to a wide range of maximum display resolutions, a video with favorable visibility that has undergone appropriate contour correction based on the contour-corrected video signal S9. Can be displayed on the display.
[0040]
Similarly, an appropriate contour correction amplitude amount h is set by outputting the control signal S4B to the contour correction amplitude
[0041]
Furthermore, since the relationship between the maximum display resolution, the contour tailing time width t, and the contour correction amplitude amount h (first and second inclinations) can be changed by the external control signal S6 given from the outside, the degree of contour correction is increased. Adjustments can also be made externally.
