本発明は、レーザ光源からのレーザ光を用いて光ディスクに光学的に情報を記録し再生する光学的情報記録再生装置に関する。

光ディスクに光学的に情報を記録する場合、所定の記録パワーで記録することにより光ディスク上に記録マークを形成する。しかし、記録パワーが最適でないと記録マークの形状が乱れ所定の性能を得ることができない。また記録開始には記録パワーを最適にしても、記録中に記録条件が変化してずれることがある。このため、

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明による実施の形態について図を用いて説明する。図1は本発明による光学的情報記録再生装置の第1の実施の形態の構成を示した図である。本実施の形態では、レーザダイオード10からのレーザ光11をディスク基板31上の記録膜32上に集光し情報を記録再生する。ここでディスク基板31はコンパクトディスク(CD)の大きさで且つ記録可能な光ディスクである。レーザダイオード10はレーザ駆動装置12により駆動され、所定の発光パワーを出射する。このパワー出力はコントローラ13により設定される。コントローラ13は、レーザダイオード10の駆動電流を制御し、レーザダイオード10の発光パワーを制御する。また記録信号に応じてレーザ駆動電流をスイッチングし、所定の記録パルス波形を作成する。

レーザダイオード10からのレーザ光11はビームスプリッタ14により2つの光束に分岐され、一方はモニタ用光検出器15に入射する光束となり、もう一方はそのままビームスプリッタ14を透過し、立ち上げプリズム16により光路を変更し、対物レンズ17によりディスク基板31上の記録膜32上に集光して、情報を記録再生する。本実施の形態のビームスプリッタ14では、入射ビームに対して90%を対物レンズ17方向に透過させ、残りの10%をモニタ用光検出器15方向に反射させるものである。

記録再生時、ディスク基板31上の記録膜32での反射光は、再び対物レンズ17,立ち上げプリズム16により戻り、再びビームスプリッタ14に入射する。このビームスプリッタ14により、反射光は、光路を変更し、集光レンズ18で集光され、信号検出器19で検出され、プリアンプ20で電気信号に変換され且つ利得増幅され、再生信号処理回路21により信号処理を行う。信号処理回路21ではディスク基板31上からの再生信号を2値化してデジタルデータに復調し、所定のデータを得るものである。

次に、ディスク基板31が30倍速の場合40mWの場合には、上記に従い、4mWのレーザ光がモニタ用光検出器15にモニタ光として検出されるが、この際コントローラ13により、パワーモニタ回路22の利得が、図2に示す利得Dに切り換えられ、利得が1/4に低減されるので、パワーモニタ回路22の出力はディスク基板31が4倍速の場合と同じ増幅されたモニタ信号を得、レーザ駆動装置12に戻すことにより、安定した40mWを出射させることができる。

次に、レーザダイオード10からのレーザ光11の発光パワーが、ディスク基板31が4倍速の場合の10mW、10倍速の場合の20mW、20倍速の場合の30mW、30倍速の場合40mWに、コントローラ13により切り換えて使用する場合につき、例として説明する。

この場合、パワーモニタ回路22では、Aディスク基板31が4倍速の場合の10mWは、コントローラ13により図3に示す利得Aに設定され、増幅されたモニター用信号を得、10倍速の場合の20mWには、図3に示す利得Bに設定され、20倍速の場合の30mWは、図3に示す利得Cに設定され、30倍速の場合40mWには、図3に示す利得Dに設定される。したがって、各々の倍速における増幅されたモニタ信号は4倍速の場合と同じ出力を得ることができ、よって安定した10mW、20mW,30mWおよび40mWを各々出射させることができる。

図5は、このときのパワーモニタ回路22の具体回路の例であり、パワーモニタ回路22はアンプ221と固定抵抗222と可変抵抗223から構成されている。図5の可変抵抗223は、図2に対応して二つの並列抵抗とスィッチが示されており、コントローラ13からの指示で二つの並列抵抗の一方から他方に切り換えられ、利得Aから利得Dに切り換えられる。図3の場合は、4つの並列抵抗とスィッチにして、並列抵抗を順次切り換えることにより、利得が利得Aから利得B,利得C,利得Dに順次切り換えられる。図4の場合は、可変抵抗にして、抵抗値を漸次減少させる。

また本実施の形態では、ディスク基板31の種類により、パワーモニタ回路22での利得増幅を制御することもできる。ディスク基板31がCDの場合、記録する信号の最長ビット数が11Tであり、DVDの場合、記録する信号の最長ビット数が14Tであり、CDとDVDで記録最長ビット数が違うので、プリアンプ20Aに記録最長ビット数判別回路を設けてCDかDVDかを判別し、その結果を表す判別信号を再生信号処理回路21を経由してコントローラ13に供給し、コントローラ13により、レーザダイオード10からのレーザ光11の発光パワーをCDかDVDに見合った所定値に保つように制御する。

図6は本発明による光学的情報記録再生装置の第2の実施の形態の構成を示した図である。本実施の形態では、パワー制御回路23の出力を信号検出器19に接続されたプリアンプ20Aに入力した構成であり、プリアンプ20Aを図1のパワーモニタ回路22と同様の構成とすることにより、図1と同じ利得制御をさせることで、再生信号が飽和しない即ちS/Nの良い再生信号出力を得ることができる。

図7は本発明による光学的情報記録再生装置の第3の実施の形態の構成を示した図である。本実施の形態では、複数のレーザを使用する場合を示す。
レーザダイオードに、DVD用レーザダイオード10aとCD用レーザダイオード10bの2種類を用い、且つプリズム20により同一の光学系を使用する。DVD用レーザ光11a、CD用レーザ光11bはいずれも、ビームスプリッタ14によりそのレーザ光の一部が、モニタ用光検出器15に入力する。このモニタ用光検出器16の出力はパワーモニタ回路22で増幅され、パワー制御回路23により、レーザパワーが一定になるようにレーザ駆動装置12を制御する。

ここで、DVD用レーザ10aは波長660nmでレーザ部分の最大出力が60mW、CD用レーザ10bは波長780nmで最大出力130mWのものを使用している。レーザの駆動電流と発光出力の関係を図8に示す。最大駆動電流において、発光強度は約2倍異なる。

これを、同一のモニタ信号検出系で使用するとレーザパワー1mWあたりの出力が同じであるため、最大出力に対する割合で考えると、DVD用レーザ10aの方が検出感度が落ちることになる。このため本実施の形態では、レーザパワーに対するモニタ出力の感度を2倍変化させた。図9に示すように、それぞれのレーザの最大発光パワーで、フロントモニタ出力レベルを、ダイナミックレンジを決めるVFMーMAX値になるようにパワーモニタ回路22の利得を切り換える構成とした。本実施の形態ではDVDとCDにより利得を切り換えるため、ディスク判別後に得を切り換える。
