Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an electronic camera that captures an optical image of a subject obtained through an imaging optical system with an image sensor and records the image as image data on an electronic recording medium, and particularly, along the longitudinal direction of a flat rectangular parallelepiped camera body. The present invention relates to an electronic camera capable of improving the holding performance of a camera when the longitudinal direction of the camera body is set as a vertical direction when an imaging lens objective surface is disposed on one of the thickness surfaces.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, it is called a digital camera or the like, and a subject image is picked up by a solid-state image pickup device such as a CCD (charge coupled device) image pickup device, and image data of a still image (still image) or a moving image (movie image) of the subject is obtained. As a result, electronic cameras that record digitally on an IC (integrated circuit) memory card or a magnetic disk are rapidly spreading. As an IC memory card, in the case of an electronic camera, a PC card, which is an IC card conforming to the PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) standard, was originally used. Large-capacity smart media (trademark), compact flash (trademark) and the like have come to be generally used. As a magnetic disk, there is a disk using a floppy disk, but a small magnetic disk device using an ultra-small hard disk comparable to an IC memory card developed in recent years is also attracting attention.
[0003]
By the way, the camera frame is generally a horizontally long rectangular screen when the camera is held as it is. With this horizontally long screen, the horizontal direction, that is, the position where the longitudinal direction is the horizontal direction is referred to as a horizontal position, which is often used for taking landscapes and group photographs. Then, by photographing the camera by tilting it by 90 ° without changing the direction of the photographing optical axis, the vertical position is referred to as a vertical position, and portraits of one to three persons and a vertically long building. It is used for photographing.
In the case of a so-called silver salt camera using a conventional silver salt film, if the 35mm full size is used, even if the camera is turned and the horizontal and vertical photos are taken, Since a long screen is always formed on the film in the transport direction, the film is developed and printed on photographic paper, and then observed as an appropriate orientation in which the subject stands upright.
[0004]
On the other hand, in the case of an electronic camera, it is necessary to perform a rotation operation by image processing in order to make the orientation different from the orientation defined at the time of capturing captured image data. Such image rotation processing is generally performed by application software for image processing inside the PC after image data is transferred to a PC (personal computer) or the like.
[0005]
