Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an improvement related to a hand-held four-cycle engine suitable for an engine that is a power source for a trimmer or other portable work machine.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 10-28801 discloses a handheld four-cycle engine in which oil mist generated from oil in an oil sump is circulated in the engine so as to lubricate the inside of the engine in any operating position of the engine. Is disclosed.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the lubricating device disclosed in the above publication, the circulation path of the oil mist starts from the oil tank, moves to the crank chamber and the valve operating chamber, and is relatively long and complicated. If the oil mist circulation path is long and complicated in this way, the engine body forming the oil mist increases in size, making it difficult to reduce the weight. Weight reduction is one of the important issues for improving workability, especially for handheld four-cycle engines.
[0004]
The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and is capable of reliably lubricating the valve operating mechanism in any operating posture of the engine while enabling a compact and lightweight engine body. The purpose is to provide a type 4 cycle engine.
[0005]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention comprises a crankcase having a crank chamber for accommodating a crankshaft, and a cylinder block having a cylinder bore, and an intake valve, an exhaust valve, and these on the side wall of the cylinder block. This is a hand-held four-cycle engine with a valve mechanism that opens and closes in conjunction with the crankshaft. An oil tank that stores oil is formed on one side wall from the crankcase to the cylinder block. The first feature is that an oil mist generating means for generating oil mist from stored oil and the valve mechanism are accommodated.
[0006]
The oil mist generating means corresponds to
[0007]
According to the first feature, the oil tank can be filled with the oil mist generated by the oil mist generating means, so that each part of the valve mechanism arranged in the oil tank can be operated in any manner of the engine. Even in the posture, it can be reliably lubricated by the oil mist. Therefore, it is not necessary to provide a special oil supply oil passage for lubricating the valve mechanism in the engine body, and the engine can be reduced in size and weight. Since the oil tank is connected to one side wall from the crankcase to the cylinder block, it is not necessary to provide an oil sump at the lower part of the crankcase, and the overall height of the engine can be kept low and the size can be further reduced. .

In addition to the first feature, the present invention provides an outward path and a return path communicating between the oil tank and the crank chamber above the oil stored in the oil tank, and a positive pressure component of pressure pulsation generated in the crank chamber on the return path. A second feature is that valve means for guiding the oil to the oil tank side is provided.
[0009]
The valve means corresponds to a one-
[0010]
According to the second feature, since the oil mist generated in the oil tank is circulated between the oil tank and the crank chamber using the pressure pulsation in the crank chamber, the crankshaft can be operated in any operating position of the engine. And the piston can be lubricated. In addition, since it is sufficient for the oil mist to circulate between the two chambers of the oil tank and the crank chamber, the forward path and the return path connecting the two chambers can be relatively short and simplified, and the engine can be further reduced in size, The weight can be reduced.
[0011]
In addition to the first or the second feature, the present invention communicates a breather chamber with a return path between the valve means and the oil tank, and communicates the breather chamber with an air cleaner of the intake system on one side and the oil tank on the other side. A third feature is that the suction chamber communicates with the suction chamber through the orifice.
[0012]
According to the third feature, the blow-by gas generated in the crank chamber is transferred to the breather chamber together with the oil mist and separated into gas and liquid, the blow-by gas is discharged to the air cleaner, and the liquefied oil is sucked out through the orifice. Into the low pressure oil tank.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the first feature of the present invention, the crankcase having the crank chamber for accommodating the crankshaft and the cylinder block having the cylinder bore are provided, and the intake valve and the exhaust valve are provided on the side wall of the cylinder block. , And a hand-held four-cycle engine provided with a valve operating mechanism for opening and closing these valves in conjunction with the crankshaft, and an oil tank for storing oil is formed on one side wall from the crankcase to the cylinder block, Since this oil tank contains an oil mist generating means for generating oil mist from stored oil and the valve operating mechanism, each part of the valve operating mechanism in the oil tank is filled with any oil mist that fills it. Lubrication can be ensured even in a driving posture. Therefore, it is not necessary to provide a special oil supply oil passage for lubricating the valve mechanism in the engine body, and the engine can be reduced in size and weight. Since the oil tank is connected to one side wall from the crankcase to the cylinder block, it is not necessary to provide an oil sump at the lower part of the crankcase, and the overall height of the engine can be kept low and the size can be further reduced. .
[0045]
Further, according to the second feature of the present invention, an outward path and a return path communicating between the oil tank and the crank chamber are provided above the oil stored in the oil tank, and a positive pressure component of pressure pulsation generated in the crank chamber is provided in the return path. Since the valve means leading to the oil tank side is provided, the oil mist generated in the oil tank is circulated between the oil tank and the crank chamber by utilizing the pressure pulsation in the crank chamber. The crankshaft and piston can be lubricated. In addition, since it is sufficient for the oil mist to circulate between the two chambers of the oil tank and the crank chamber, the forward path and the return path connecting the two chambers can be relatively short and simplified, and the engine can be further reduced in size, Weight reduction can be achieved.
[0046]
Further according to the third aspect of the present invention, a breather chamber communicates with the return path between the valve means and the oil tank, and the breather chamber communicates with the air cleaner of the intake system on one side and with the oil tank on the other side. Because the blow-by gas generated in the crank chamber is transferred to the breather chamber together with oil mist for gas-liquid separation, the blow-by gas is discharged to the air cleaner, and the oil passes through the orifice and the suction chamber. It can be returned to the tank.
