BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a current sensor using a Hall element.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In general, DC current sensors are used in a wide range of fields from home appliances using motors (air conditioners, fully automatic washing machines, sewing machines, etc.) to industrial equipment and transportation equipment (automobiles, railways, ships, etc.). Among such applications, there is a need for a current sensor that is particularly inexpensive, has a wide operating temperature range, and detects current with high accuracy.
In general, Hall elements and MR (magnetoresistance) elements are used as elements used in such current sensors, but current sensors using Hall elements are widely used because they are relatively inexpensive. Has been.
[0003]
By the way, due to the characteristics of the Hall element, the sensor sensitivity of the current sensor using this element changes according to changes in the ambient temperature, and a sensitivity error is likely to occur, and even if the measured current is zero, the offset voltage (unbalanced) (Voltage × amplifier amplification)), and the voltage is not constant due to variations in hall element characteristics and ambient temperature changes.
Therefore, in order to cancel the sensitivity error and the offset voltage, the following methods are generally used conventionally.
[0004]
First, the following three methods are adopted as a compensation method for the sensitivity error.
(1) The Hall element output (Hall voltage V H ) when receiving the external magnetic field B proportional to the current to be measured when the Hall element is driven with a constant current I C can be expressed by

(3) After amplifying the output of the Hall element, it is converted into a current output, fed back to the coil wound around the magnetic core for detecting the current, and by passing the current so that the magnetic flux in this magnetic core is zero, Even if the output of the Hall element changes depending on the ambient temperature, it is possible to output a current that is not affected by the change. An example of the circuit configuration at this time is shown in FIG.
[0008]
In FIG. 8, the same parts as those in FIG. A current is applied by applying a voltage in one direction of the Hall element 4 of the
[0009]
Next, regarding the offset voltage compensation method, for example, (1) as disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2000-97972, a method for compensating for an input voltage fluctuation to an amplifier circuit, and (2) As shown in Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 8-14616, there is a method of compensating for the temperature change of the unbalanced voltage in each Hall element in advance.
By appropriately combining the methods described above, the current sensor can obtain a relatively stable output with respect to a temperature change.
[0010]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the above method has the following problems.
First, the above method (3) is the best in terms of the stability of sensitivity to changes in ambient temperature. In this case, however, the power consumption of the current sensor itself is large, and because of the current output, on the output receiving side. Resistors to be used must also have very high accuracy and excellent temperature characteristics, and the total cost becomes very high compared to other methods. Furthermore, due to the structure, the offset voltage compensation method as described above cannot be adopted for this current sensor.
Next, since the method (2) changes the amplification factor, the change in the output impedance and the frequency characteristics of the sensor due to the change in the input impedance on the Hall element side causes a change, so it is not suitable for a high-precision current sensor. is there.
Therefore, it is generally considered that the method (1) is the most inexpensive and appropriate to use as the temperature compensation method for the sensitivity error.
[0011]
Next, regarding the offset voltage compensation method combined with the above method [ 1 ], since the method (1) described above cannot follow the change in the unbalanced voltage of the Hall element, the current for compensating the sensitivity. An offset error of the unbalanced voltage of the Hall element × amplifier amplification according to the current change of the source is always output.
The method (2) supplements the problem of the method (1). However, as a premise, it is necessary to know the temperature coefficient of the unbalanced voltage in advance. Is not mentioned. Furthermore, in order to perform temperature compensation, it has been proposed to use a component whose temperature change is a linear function, such as a diode or a temperature sensitive resistor, but the temperature change of the unbalanced voltage in a normal molded Hall element is As shown in FIG. 9, since it is non-linear with respect to changes in ambient temperature and the operation is unstable, compensation by a linear function is incomplete.
The present invention focuses on the problems described above, which has been made to effectively solve the problem, its purpose is to reduce the offset Todori shift caused by ambient temperature changes with a simple structure, higher The object is to provide an accurate current sensor.
[0012]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The invention defined in
In this case, before Symbol predetermined compensation gain For example, the gain of the differential amplifier, determined by the change of the unbalanced voltage and the unbalanced voltage caused by the temperature change of the Hall element when in 25 ° C. the Hall element Obtained based on a constant.
[0013]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, an embodiment of a current sensor according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing a current sensor according to the present invention, FIG. 2 is a graph showing temperature characteristics of an unbalanced voltage of a Hall element in which no stress change occurs due to temperature, and FIG. 3 is an input resistance of the Hall element with respect to a change in ambient temperature. FIG. 4 is a graph showing changes in the unbalanced voltage / Hall element internal resistance with respect to changes in the ambient temperature, and FIG. 5 is a graph showing changes in the unbalanced voltage / Hall element with respect to the unbalanced voltage when the ambient temperature is 25 ° C. FIG. 6 is a graph showing temperature characteristics of the current sensor of the present invention and the conventional current sensor. In the present invention, the same reference numerals are given to the same components as those of the conventional apparatus.
[0014]
First, in the present invention, the current sensor uses the compensation method of sensitivity error (1), and the Hall element to be used is not molded, or the Hall element portion is wrapped with a material that does not generate stress due to temperature. For example, as shown in FIG. 2, the change in the unbalanced voltage due to the ambient temperature can be estimated from the unbalanced voltage value when the ambient temperature is 25 ° C., and the compensation is performed by changing the internal resistance value of the Hall element. Is provided with an offset compensation circuit which is performed by extracting.
Specifically, as shown in FIG. 1, a constant current is supplied from the constant
[0015]
As described above, the Hall element 4 has a configuration in which the element portion is wrapped with a material that is not molded or that does not generate stress due to temperature.
As the compensation differential amplifier 32, an operational amplifier is used here, and a compensation gain γ is obtained by computation as will be described later.
In this current sensor 30, the differential output of the Hall element 4 is amplified to an arbitrary magnitude by the
Here, the change of the internal resistance Ri of the Hall element 4 with respect to the ambient temperature is shown in FIG. 3 and changes linearly, and the nonlinear function is almost the same as the change of the unbalanced voltage of the Hall element with respect to the ambient temperature. The relationship between the change in the unbalanced voltage Vo of the Hall element 4 and the change in the internal resistance Ri during constant current driving to support it is as shown in FIG. 4, and the respective nonlinearities are almost the same. Therefore, the change in the unbalanced voltage Vo due to the ambient temperature can be expressed as in

Here, the voltage output V out1 amplified by the

Therefore, the change amount per temperature change of the sensor output is expressed by the following mathematical formula 4.

[Expression 4]
[0021]
Assuming that the temperature change of the Hall voltage V H is compensated by the above method (1), that is, the change of the constant current Ic, in the above formula 4, the following formula 5 is established.

Therefore, the above formula 4 is rewritten to the following

Therefore, from the relationship of the
FIG. 6 shows an offset drift rate as a result of offset compensation of the current sensor 30 of the present invention configured as described above. Here, for comparison, the compensation result of the conventional current sensor (without compensation) is also shown.
[0028]
According to this, the conventional current sensor is not preferable because the offset drift rate fluctuates as large as about 2% with respect to a change in ambient temperature. On the other hand, in the case of the current sensor of the present invention, it has been found that the offset drift rate is substantially 0% even when the ambient temperature is changed, and shows a good characteristic.
The above-described present invention can be applied to any Hall element such as InSb, GaAs, or InAs. As a power source for realizing the current sensor of the present invention shown in FIG. 10, any one of a positive single power source, a positive and negative power source, and a negative single power source may be used.
[0029]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, an offset drift due to a change in ambient temperature of the current sensor can be reduced with a simple configuration, and a more accurate current sensor can be provided.
