BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a waterproof structure for a motor used to drive a fan for a heat exchanger such as a radiator of an automobile.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Electric motors are widely used as driving power sources for various devices, but when used for fan driving of automobile radiators, they are exposed to particularly harsh environments, so magnets, rotors, Environmental measures are required to protect brushes and the like.
In particular, the fan driving motor is frequently subjected to splash during traveling. For this reason, there is a type in which the casing is a sealed type, but when the casing is splashed or submerged when the temperature is relatively high during operation of the motor, the casing is rapidly cooled and the inside of the casing becomes negative pressure. When the inside of the casing becomes negative pressure, water is sucked into the casing, for example, from a bearing portion through which the rotor shaft penetrates despite the airtightness. In this way, the water that has entered the casing remains confined, and rust is generated in the internal functional parts including the bearing.
[0003]
Therefore, there is one in which a drainage hole is provided at the bottom of the casing. When the casing is immersed in water, the inside is cooled and becomes negative pressure as described above, and water is sucked from the drainage hole at once.
As conceptually shown in FIG. 4, even if the
[0004]
For this reason, for example, the casing structure disclosed in Japanese Utility Model Laid-Open No. 3-113959 is provided with a vent in the casing bottom and the casing end wall. Here, an attempt is made to prevent the inside from becoming hot due to the airflow flowing between the two vents, but the vent at the bottom functions as a drain hole and the vent at the end wall functions as a breathing hole.
In other words, since the breathing hole always works to eliminate the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the casing, even if the bottom of the casing is immersed in water, the inside is not negative pressure, so water is sucked from the drainage hole to a high position all at once. It will never be.
Further, in the fan driving motor, the breathing hole is provided in the end wall on the side where the fan is attached, and the fan boss surrounds the end wall so that the splash during running does not directly hit the breathing hole. There are many.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the past, although the end wall is surrounded so that the breathing hole is not directly exposed to water as described above, the functional parts such as bearings, brushes, and commutators inside the casing are still wet and generated. There was a case that functional troubles occurred.
The above-mentioned wetting of the functional part occurs also in the case of a motor having only a breathing hole without a drain hole at the bottom, and is due to water intrusion from the breathing hole.
Therefore, a water shield ring is further provided around the bearing portion of the casing end wall, and a breathing hole is disposed on the inside thereof.
However, this complicates the structure and increases the cost.
Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a waterproof structure for a motor for driving a fan, in which a motor having a breathing hole in a casing can more reliably prevent water from entering from the breathing hole while easily holding the structure. Objective.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
Then, when the mechanism of water intrusion from the breathing hole was examined, when water splashed onto the motor casing from above by splash or the like, as shown in FIG. 5 and FIG. It was found that due to the labyrinth action between the outer peripheral surfaces, it flowed down as a wall surface flow, and because there was a breathing hole on the wall surface flow path, a part of the wall surface flow infiltrated into the inside from the breathing hole.
[0007]
That is, FIG. 5 shows a cross section near the fan mounting portion, and FIG. 6 shows a casing end surface of the same part. As shown in FIG. 5, the splash water applied to the upper surface of the
[0008]
As shown in FIG. 6, on the
Since the conventional breathing hole is arranged on the above-described flow path W of the wall flow as indicated by the point X or Y in FIG. 6, the wall flow enters the
In addition, the broken line with an arrow in FIG. 6 shows the flow direction of wall surface flow.
[0009]
For this reason, the present invention extends from the fan side in a fan drive motor in which a rotor supported by a bearing is housed in a casing, the shaft of the rotor extends through the bearing to the outside of the casing, and a fan is attached to the tip of the rotor. The cover member surrounds the end wall through which the shaft of the casing passes, and a breathing hole is provided in the end wall.
[0010]
In particular, when the casing has a bearing holding portion protruding from the end wall, and the radius of the bearing holding portion is R, the breathing hole is a bearing holding region in a region directly below the vertical tangent of the bearing holding portion. Of the wall surface flow that flows from between the outer peripheral surface of the casing and the cover member, in a range excluding the range of R / 4 to the left and right from the perpendicular passing through the center of the section, in a region below the line of radius R + 1 mm from the center . It was assumed that it was provided in an area that avoided the flow-down path .
[0011]
[Action]
Since the breathing hole is provided in the end wall surrounded by the cover member, the splash does not directly hit the breathing hole. The area where the breathing hole avoids the flow path of the wall flow on the end wall even when splash or other water that has fallen on the casing flows as a wall flow from between the cover member and the outer peripheral surface of the casing to the end wall. Therefore, water does not enter from the breathing hole even without a water shield ring.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, in the fan driving motor in which the breathing hole is provided in the casing end wall, the present invention surrounds the end wall with the cover member extending from the fan side, and the breathing hole is provided with a flow path of the wall surface flow on the end wall. The splash is not directly applied to the breathing hole because it is provided in the avoidance area, and water such as splash that has fallen on the casing flows as a wall flow from between the cover member and the outer peripheral surface of the casing to the end wall side. Water does not enter through the breathing holes. Thereby, even if it does not provide a water shield ring etc., the water penetration from a breathing hole is prevented reliably, and the functional failure by the water immersion of the functional part inside a casing is prevented.
