BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an internal combustion engine including a variable valve timing mechanism (VVT) operated by lubricating oil, and more particularly to an oil amount control device in the lubricating oil circuit.
[0002]
[Prior art]
For example, in an internal combustion engine having a variable valve timing mechanism (VVT) operated by lubricating oil, such as a valve timing control device for an internal combustion engine disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 7-91280, lubrication of the engine. Part of the oil is diverted and used as VVT hydraulic oil. That is, most of the lubricating oil pressurized by the engine lubricating oil pump is supplied to the parts requiring lubrication through the lubricating oil passage, such as the main bearing part of the engine and the valve train, etc. The flow is diverted from the lubricating oil passage to the passage to the VVT branched. Then, the diverted lubricating oil is selectively supplied to one of the plurality of ports of the VVT by switching the flow path by the valve timing control valve, and the timing piston of the VVT is moved by the lubricating oil pressure, The valve timing is advanced or retarded by changing the relative phase with the camshaft.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
As described above, in an internal combustion engine having a VVT operated by lubricating oil, when the valve timing is changed by operating the VVT by supplying a part of the lubricating oil, the main bearing portion of the engine, the valve train, etc. The amount of lubricating oil supplied to is reduced compared to when the VVT is not operating. However, for example, when the engine shifts from a low-load operation state to a high-load operation state, it is necessary to supply lubricating oil to the VVT in order to advance the valve timing of the intake valve, Since it is also necessary to increase the amount of lubricating oil supplied to the valve system or the like, there is a problem that both requirements overlap at the same time, resulting in a shortage of lubricating oil.
[0004]
In VVT operated by lubricating oil, the response speed of VVT to control is determined by the height of the lubricating oil pressure. For example, under operating conditions where the engine is operated at a low speed when the temperature of the lubricating oil is high. There is a problem that the response of VVT deteriorates because the lubricating oil pressure becomes low. Conventionally, these problems are generally dealt with by increasing the discharge capacity of the lubricating oil pump. However, when the VVT is not operating, the large lubricating oil pump increases friction loss and reduces fuel consumption. In addition, problems such as an increase in cost, an increase in weight, and difficulty in securing an accommodation space also occur.
[0005]
The present invention addresses the above-described problems in the prior art, and does not cause a shortage of lubricating oil supply even with a small-sized lubricating oil pump, and further improves the VVT responsiveness. It aims at providing the oil quantity control apparatus attached to the lubricating oil circuit of an engine.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention provides, as means for solving the above-mentioned problems, an oil amount control device in a lubricating oil circuit of an internal combustion engine described in each claim.
[0007]
According to the oil amount control device of the first aspect, when the internal combustion engine is operated, the pressure accumulating means takes out a part of the lubricating oil that is pressurized by the lubricating oil pump and flows through the high pressure passage of the lubricating oil circuit. Store in a pressurized state. When the variable valve timing mechanism (VVT) is activated, the supply means is activated at a time when the amount of lubricating oil in the high-pressure passage is insufficient and the lubricating oil pressure is lowered, so that the lubrication stored in the pressure accumulating means is achieved. Oil is discharged into the high-pressure passage and the amount of lubrication oil supplied to the VVT and the parts that require lubrication inside the engine is temporarily increased. It is possible to prevent the VVT response from deteriorating due to a decrease in the lubricating oil pressure. Furthermore, since the pressure accumulating means is operated using the intake negative pressure acting on the intake passage of the engine as a power source, it is not necessary to provide another power source for the pressure accumulating means.
[0008]
More specifically, in the oil amount control device according to
[0009]
Since the intake negative pressure of an engine is generally high in a low load operation state and low in a high load operation state, it is possible to detect when the engine operating condition shifts from a low load to a high load by a decrease in the intake negative pressure. Is possible. Since the timing is also the timing at which the valve timing of the intake valve or the like should be advanced at the same time, in the oil amount control device according to
[0010]
In the oil amount control apparatus according to the fifth aspect, the supply means is activated by a control means such as an electronic control device. Therefore, it is possible to automatically release the lubricating oil stored in the pressure accumulating means to the high pressure passage at any time, or to automatically suck and store the lubricating oil from the high pressure passage to the pressure accumulating means at any time. become. Furthermore, in the oil amount control device according to claim 6, since the control means can release the lubricating oil from the pressure accumulating means to the high pressure passage according to the operating condition of the engine, the pressure accumulating means at an optimum time for the engine. Can be activated.
[0011]
In the oil amount control device according to any one of claims 7 to 9, the negative pressure introduction passage for introducing the intake negative pressure of the engine to the pressure accumulating means includes a negative pressure switching valve, a check valve, and a negative pressure accumulating means. Since at least one is provided, the negative pressure switching valve is controlled by, for example, an electronic control device to operate by introducing intake negative pressure to the pressure accumulating means at any time, or negative pressure is introduced by a check valve It is possible to limit the flow in the passage in one direction and introduce only negative pressure into the pressure accumulating means, or always accumulate negative pressure by negative pressure accumulating means such as a vacuum tank and introduce it to the pressure accumulating means at any time To do.

In the oil amount control device according to
