BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a power supply circuit for a mobile terminal including a battery protection circuit that operates when a current exceeding a predetermined threshold flows.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Mobile terminals are becoming smaller and lighter. In recent years, there are an increasing number of folding-type terminals that can simultaneously enlarge the button unit and the display unit in order to reduce the size, improve the operational convenience, and improve the display visibility. In addition, since the multi-functionalization is progressing, the demand for the battery current is also increasing, and the threshold for operating the battery protection circuit (for example, see Patent Documents 1 and 2) has to be raised.
[0003]
Referring to FIG. 9, the configuration of a conventional power supply circuit and its peripheral part is shown. A signal to be transmitted (such as sound) is transmitted from the

In a PDC (Personal Digital Cellular) system that is mainly used in mobile phones in Japan, in general, a transmission amplifier (power amplifier 902) includes a battery voltage power source (output of the battery 907) and a negative voltage for gate bias (output of the battery 907). −2.5V, the output of the negative voltage generator 903). This is because importance is placed on the efficiency (consumption current) of the amplifier. For this reason, the amplification characteristic changes depending on the power supply voltage, and generally the best characteristic is obtained at a high voltage (in a general circuit, a constant voltage output is used in order to avoid a characteristic change due to power supply voltage fluctuation). Further, since the battery voltage is directly used, an FET (power amplifier power control FET 908) functioning as a power ON / OFF switch is disposed between the battery and the battery. The gate of the power amplifier power control FET 908 is connected to the transmission control of the

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
As described above, the power amplifier power control FET 908 of the conventional power circuit is controlled only by the baseband LSI 906. Therefore, when the control line becomes a logic voltage of FET-ON (Hi or Lo, but Lo active when the power amplifier

Certainly, even in the conventional power supply circuit, the battery protection circuit operates for an abnormal current exceeding the threshold value at which the battery protection circuit operates. Therefore, the above problem is solved by the operation of the battery protection circuit. However, when the abnormal current is equal to or less than the threshold value of the battery protection circuit, the battery protection circuit does not operate, and thus it is impossible to prevent useless power consumption. Furthermore, as described above, for the purpose of increasing the functionality of the mobile terminal, if the threshold value at which the battery protection circuit operates is increased, a larger abnormal current is allowed, and this problem becomes more serious.
[0008]
An object of the present invention is to provide a power supply circuit that stops operation even when an abnormal current below a threshold value of a battery protection circuit flows through a power amplifier or the like directly connected to a battery output.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a battery protection circuit that operates when a current exceeding a predetermined threshold value flows. In the power supply circuit of a mobile terminal, the first monitoring the voltage at a predetermined location in the power supply circuit is provided. And the second means for determining the presence or absence of an abnormal current smaller than the threshold value from the monitoring result of the first means and the second means, and the second means, It has 3rd means to operate the said battery protection circuit by sending a big electric current, It is characterized by the above-mentioned. Specifically, the third means is an FET that short-circuits the battery protection circuit when a signal output when the second means determines the presence of an abnormal current is used as a gate signal. .

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, when the threshold current of the battery protection circuit is set high so as to correspond to a large current for reasons such as illumination and sound notification, the protection region and potential of the battery protection circuit Even if a difference occurs from the maximum current of the specific circuit block being monitored, the area where the battery protection circuit does not operate can be eliminated by a minimum circuit change.
[0076]
That is, even when a specific circuit connected directly to the battery output fails or operates abnormally, and an abnormal current that is less than the operating current of the battery protection circuit continues to flow, the battery protection circuit is operated by short-circuiting the battery output. The function of the mobile terminal can be stopped reliably, and the safety of the device is maintained.
[0077]
In this way, with a simple configuration, a fail-safe function can be added that corresponds to a case where a circuit block directly connected to the battery output falls into a failure or abnormal state.
[0078]
In addition, the threshold value of the battery protection circuit can be increased in order to support multiple functions while maintaining the safety of the device.
