s={(1/n)Σ(xi−x)2}1/2, x = (1/n)Σxi.・・・(1)
1,and
2,and

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a traffic flow measurement system, and more particularly, to a traffic flow measurement system that obtains the passage of a vehicle, the type of vehicle, and the like by calculation using an image processing technique for processing an image obtained by photographing a car passing through a fixed point.
[0002]
[Prior art]
There is a need to automatically determine the state of the flow of vehicles traveling on a highway. Traffic flow measurement systems that respond to such demands are known. The image processing technology used in the known traffic flow measurement system is based on the fact that there are many edges on the front surface of the vehicle, and is a first-order image obtained by vertically projecting and adding designated areas of the image subjected to spatial differential filter processing. When the data is larger than a certain threshold value, it is determined that a vehicle exists in the area.
[0003]
As shown in FIGS. 6A, 6 </ b> B, and 6 </ b> C, the known technique of such a determination format includes a rear portion of the
[0004]
Vehicle detection is also performed for vehicle type determination. As a vehicle type determination method based on the vehicle length of a known traffic flow measurement system using image processing, when a
[0005]
By measuring the vehicle length of a passing vehicle, it is required that the vehicle type determination can be quantitatively performed based on the vehicle length and the occupancy rate can be accurately measured.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The present invention has been made based on such a technical background, and achieves the following object.
An object of the present invention is to provide a traffic flow measurement system capable of quantifying presence confirmation.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a traffic flow measurement system capable of quantitatively determining the presence or absence of a vehicle with high accuracy.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a traffic flow measurement system capable of quantitatively calculating the speed of a vehicle whose existence has been confirmed.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a traffic flow measurement system capable of quantitatively calculating the vehicle length based on the measured speed for a vehicle whose existence has been confirmed.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a traffic flow measurement system capable of accurately measuring an occupation ratio based on a measurement speed for a vehicle whose existence has been confirmed.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a traffic flow measurement system capable of confirming the presence of a vehicle having a low luminance contrast with respect to a road surface with high accuracy.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The traffic flow measuring system according to the present invention is for obtaining a continuous image by continuously capturing a road surface and a vehicle passing through a set area on the road surface, and calculating a luminance histogram for each of the continuous images. Brightness histogram calculation means, difference calculation means for calculating a time series difference of the brightness histogram, storage means for saving the brightness histogram that does not change during the set time as road surface data, and during the set time When there is a change in the brightness histogram, the difference calculation means for calculating the difference between the two previous and next brightness histograms is compared with the preset threshold value to determine the presence of the vehicle. Vehicle detection means.
[0008]
The traffic flow measurement system according to the present invention preferably includes a luminance histogram calculation means, a difference calculation means, and road surface data storage means as the vehicle detection device. The vehicle speed calculation means for calculating the vehicle speed can include a brightness histogram calculation means, a difference calculation means, a road surface data storage means, a vehicle existing time calculation means, and a conventional speed detection means.
[0009]
The traffic flow measurement system according to the present invention detects the presence of a vehicle based on the difference between a road surface histogram recorded and stored and a real-time histogram, so that the presence / absence of the vehicle can be quantified with high accuracy. Since the continuous pixels of such a histogram are obtained in time series, the vehicle length and vehicle type can also be determined by reusing them as pixel time series information.
The luminance histogram preferably includes a luminance average value and a luminance standard deviation. By using the luminance average value and the luminance standard deviation as judgment materials, the numerical value of the vehicle presence can be further improved.
[0010]
The traffic flow measuring system according to the present invention further includes speed measuring means for measuring the speed of a passing vehicle whose existence is confirmed by a histogram, and a vehicle length calculating means for calculating the vehicle length based on the existence and the speed. More preferably, it is provided. Vehicle information can be obtained accurately under the existence confirmation. It is also possible to determine the vehicle type based on the vehicle length and calculate the number of vehicles for each vehicle type based on the vehicle type and presence. Furthermore, the distance between the vehicles can be calculated based on the existence and the speed. A warning can also be displayed based on the distance between the vehicles. By calculating the time occupancy based on the presence and speed, it is possible to accurately determine the traffic flow.
[0011]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
FIG. 1 shows the number of vehicles passing per fixed time, the average speed of the vehicle, and the occupancy rate for each vehicle type, as well as measuring the inter-vehicle distance with respect to the preceding vehicle and detecting a vehicle with a short inter-vehicle distance. As shown in FIG. 2,
[0017]
The brightness histogram creation means has a calculation function for graphing the relationship between the brightness of the set detection areas and the number of pixels corresponding to the brightness. The total number of pixels per unit time is n. From the luminance histogram, the standard deviation of luminance is calculated by the following formula.
[Expression 1]
s = {(1 / n) Σ (xi−x) 2} 1/2, x = (1 / n) Σxi (1)
Here, Σ represents adding 1 to n for the subscript i. The standard deviation s is a calculated value that quantitatively indicates how wide the luminance histogram is distributed from the luminance average value.
[0018]
When the vehicle does not pass through the set area during the unit time, a road
[0019]
When the vehicle passes through the set area during the unit time, as shown in FIG. 4A, in principle, a luminance distribution at the time of passing the vehicle having a spectrum having two peak values is obtained. Since the amount of light reflected from the vehicle and the amount of light reflected from the road surface are different, two peak values appear in the luminance distribution when the vehicle passes. The reason why a certain distribution width (dispersion value, standard deviation value) occurs in the luminance histogram is mainly due to changes in the running direction of the vehicle body shape, depending on the presence of moving objects such as clouds and vehicles, and natural conditions such as rainfall and fog. The amount of light reflected from the fluctuating ambient environment and reaching the set area is subordinate.
[0020]
When acquired data such as standard deviation (value) does not change during a certain time Δt, the average luminance, standard deviation, and luminance histogram during that period are road surface information. Record and save in The luminance histogram of the designated / set area is immediately created by calculation (almost in real time) immediately in step S301 shown in FIG.
[0021]
Hereinafter, the “histogram” is limited to that in the set area. Based on the histogram, the standard deviation s of equation (1), which is the average luminance and luminance variance (value), is immediately calculated in step S302. Subsequently, with respect to the average luminance, in step S303, a difference between the input image histogram (an image not related to whether or not the vehicle passes and may match the road surface image) and the road surface image histogram is obtained by calculation.
Average brightness difference = input image average brightness−road surface image average brightness (2)
Subsequently, an overall difference is obtained in step S304 for the entire luminance histogram.
Total difference = input image luminance histogram−road surface image luminance histogram (3)

This overall difference is shown in FIG. The

If such a conditional expression is satisfied, the presence of the vehicle is confirmed. With this confirmation, the vehicle detection flag at time t is turned ON. If the condition 305-1 is satisfied, the presence of a vehicle having high contrast with respect to the road surface can be confirmed. If the condition 305-2 is satisfied, the contrast with the road surface is low, but the presence of the vehicle can be confirmed by distinguishing from the shadow.
