Description
The present invention relates to an imaging apparatus such as a video camera system that captures both moving images and still images.
A PAL sensor generally has a larger number of pixels than an NTSC sensor if it has the same size. Therefore, an NTSC camera-integrated video tape recorder (VTR) that uses a PAL sensor to cut out only the NTSC region from the area and uses the remaining pixels for motion compensation has been commercialized.
Further, since the PAL sensor is a square pixel, it is effective for image processing after capturing. Therefore, it is suitable as a sensor for performing two-dimensional image processing such as vertical / horizontal conversion of images and compression / decompression.
In an image input device that captures both moving images and still images, in a system that uses a PAL sensor in consideration of higher pixel count and digital processing, a moving image (movie) is 30 frames in a 640 x 480 pixel cutout area. In order to improve image quality, it is necessary to capture still images in the entire area of 768 × 580 pixels. However, the conventional technology does not switch and capture both PAL / NTSC images, and the system corresponding to both PAL / NTSC systems has a complicated configuration and is expensive.
In the present invention, when an image is displayed on a viewfinder as a display unit, a region used as a display image in an imaging region of a sensor as an imaging unit is a first mode and a second mode (for example, a PAL mode). It is an object of the present invention to provide an imaging apparatus capable of appropriately displaying an image even if the mode differs from the NTSC mode .
The present invention has achieved the above object by the following technical configuration.
(1) an imaging means for obtaining the converted image data to the image signal in the imaging area of the subject image, and display means for displaying the image data obtained by the imaging unit, a first included in the imaging area A first mode in which image data obtained in the area is continuously displayed on the display means; and a smaller aspect ratio than the first area included in the imaging area and substantially the first area. First control means for controlling a second mode for continuously displaying the image data obtained in the second area which is the same on the display means, and a field frame of the image displayed on the display means. And second control means for controlling the variable power lens for adjustment, the first control means in the second mode being more variable in the second mode than in the first mode. When the camera is not set to the wide side, the first mode By switching from the second mode to the second mode, the field frame of the image displayed on the display means becomes smaller, and in the first mode, the zoom lens is not set to the tele side than in the second mode. In this case, the image data obtained in the first region so that the field frame of the image displayed on the display means is enlarged by switching from the second mode to the first mode, An image pickup apparatus that displays image data obtained in the second region on the display means.
(2) In the imaging apparatus according to (1), an A / D converter that converts image data obtained by the imaging unit into a digital signal, and image data output from the A / D converter, An imaging apparatus, further comprising: a digital signal processing unit that performs digital processing including at least white balance processing; and an external interface that transmits image data processed by the digital signal processing unit to an external device.
(3) In the imaging device according to (1) or (2), in the second mode, image data of a plurality of lines in a vertical direction not including the second area in the imaging area is used as the imaging unit. Without reading from the image capturing unit, the plurality of vertical lines including the second region in the imaging region are read from the imaging unit, and then the plurality of vertical line image data including the second region in the imaging region is read. Of these, an image pickup apparatus is controlled so as not to read out image data in a region other than the second region.
With the above configuration, in the still image mode, the image data of the first area is read and captured, and in the moving image mode, the image data having a smaller number of pixels than the first area is read and captured from the imaging unit. Can shoot the subject in the desired mode.
According to the present invention, even in the first mode, that Do is possible to display an appropriate image be the second mode.
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below using examples.
In the following, an embodiment of the present invention will be described using a PAL CCD sensor.

Next, the operation of this embodiment will be described. In this system, by using a PAL type CCD sensor (768 × 580 pixels), a system corresponding to both PAL and NTSC systems is realized in the same system. Furthermore, it has the following three modes. NTSC (30 frames / sec) and PAL (25 frames / sec) movie operation modes, a 640 × 480 pixel cut-out still mode corresponding to image input to a computer, and a 768 × 580 pixel full-screen still mode Mode.
This is summarized in Table 1 to explain each mode in this system in an easy-to-understand manner.
Table 1 shows the number of pixels and their states in the PAL / NTSC system for each of the above modes.
First, the movie operation mode will be described. In the PAL system movie operation, it may be read from the CCD as it is, but in the NTSC system movie operation, a 640 × 480 pixel region is cut out and processed. This is because the PAL type CCD sensor reads out 625 lines at 50 Hz, and therefore cannot read out all pixels in the case of NTSC type 60 Hz and 525 lines. Therefore, only the electric charge of 640 × 480 pixels in the region corresponding to 525 lines at 60 Hz is read out. This reading method will be described below with reference to FIG.
FIG. 2A shows a PAL / NTSC mode switching area of the CCD used in this embodiment. 21 in the figure shows the entire CCD area in the PAL mode. On the other hand,
Next, the still image mode corresponding to the computer shown in Table 1 will be described. The standard display of a personal computer is VGA (640 × 480), and considering image input to a personal computer, it is more convenient to cut out and
Subsequently, the full screen still mode in Table 1 is a mode in which still image data of the CCD full screen is stored in a recording medium. Even when still image data is compressed, it is desirable to store more detailed and more image data. Therefore, in this mode, all the 768 × 580 pixels of the total number of pixels are captured by making full use of the CCD pixels. In the PAL system, full-screen still images can be captured by reading out in the movie operation mode. However, in the NTSC system, it is necessary to switch from clip-out in movie mode to full-screen readout. However, since all pixels cannot be read correctly at the NTSC timing, in this case, they are read at the PAL timing, stored in the memory, subjected to processing such as compression, and written to the recording medium.
Here, when full screen reading is performed in the NTSC system, there is a possibility that the
Next, a PAL / NTSC area conversion system will be described by a method other than CCD reading.
FIG. 3 is a conceptual diagram of the configuration corresponding to the pixels of the image field memory. The part up to the dotted line including the solid line is the PAL-compatible all memory area, and the solid line part is the NTSC-compatible cut-out area. The timings T1, T2, T3, and T4 shown in FIG. 3 indicate portions outside the NTSC area, and when reading from the memory, high-speed reading is performed during the blanking period as shown in FIGS. It is.
As a result, the NTSC timing signal can be read from the signal read from the CCD by the PAL method and written in the memory.
Further, the above-described CCD reading method and a reading method using a memory may be combined to read an NTSC image signal from a PAL CCD sensor. For example, the vertical direction reads out 580 lines to 480 lines by CCD reading, and the horizontal direction reads out 768 pixels to 640 pixels using a memory, thereby reading an NTSC type image signal from a PAL type CCD sensor.
By the method described above, the subject can be photographed in a mode desired by the operator, either a mode in which all pixels are read in a long cycle or a mode in which an arbitrary pixel region is cut out and read out in a short cycle.
(Second embodiment)
Next, an embodiment of a display unit that displays cutout pixels in a shorter cycle than the display of all pixels in a display system that displays all the pixels of the CCD in a long cycle will be described.
FIG. 4 shows a block diagram of the display unit of this embodiment. 51 in the figure is a horizontal timing clock (H_CK) for displaying image data. By this pulse, image display in the horizontal direction is sequentially performed.
A characteristic operation of the display unit of the present embodiment will be described.
First, the operation when data of 768 × 580 pixels, which is the full screen mode, is sent from the CCD or memory will be described. At this time, timing pulses H_CK51 and H_ST52 for displaying 768 pixels with a period of about 15 KHz are input to the
Next, an operation when data of 640 × 480 pixels which is the cut-out mode is sent will be described. At this time, timing pulses H_CK and H_ST for displaying 640 pixels with a period of about 15 KHz are input to the
(Third embodiment)
Next, another embodiment of the present invention will be described. FIG. 5 shows a system block diagram of the third embodiment of the present invention. The basic configuration is substantially the same as that of the first embodiment, and the same blocks as those in FIG. 1 are denoted by the same reference numerals.
The feature of the third embodiment is the input of 31 optical blocks and 18 electronic viewfinders. The
In this system, for example, as shown in FIG. 6, if the view frame of the viewfinder image changes depending on the mode, the operator may feel annoyed. Therefore, in the third embodiment, the optical means using the variable power lens is controlled so that the field frame of the finder is the same in any mode.
That is, in the PAL movie operation mode and the full screen still mode, the variable magnification bifocal lens is set to the tele side, and in the clipping mode such as the NTSC movie operation mode, the variable magnification bifocal lens is set to the wide side. It matches the field frame. At this time, the variable-magnification bifocal lens of the optical block is set so that the same shooting area is obtained when the PAL screen is shot on the telephoto side and when the NTSC screen is shot on the wide side.
Next, when the same finder (for PAL) is used for PAL and NTSC, the display size changes even if the field frame is the same because the number of pixels is different. Therefore, the
Various circuit configurations are conceivable for this sampling conversion. For example, there is a method in which a frame memory capable of reading and writing both PAL and NTSC timing is used, and NTSC is read by writing PAL, and an insufficient pixel is compensated by performing an interpolation operation or the like. is there. Here, an example of the sampling conversion will be described.
FIG. 7 shows a conceptual configuration diagram of a frame memory capable of reading and writing both PAL and NTSC timings.
FIG. 7A shows a memory configuration for one NTSC horizontal line, and FIG. 7B shows a configuration for one PAL horizontal line. (C) shows the memory configuration in the NTSC vertical direction, and (D) shows the configuration in the PAL vertical direction. As can be seen from the figure,
With the above configuration, the viewfinder field frame appearance is always constant even in the various modes shown in Table 1. Therefore, an image of pixel information corresponding to each mode can be obtained without bothering the operator.
Incidentally, the display unit at this time always displays 625 lines at 60 Hz.

A first mode in which image data obtained in a first area included in the imaging area is continuously displayed on the display means; and smaller than the first area included in the imaging area; First control means for controlling a second mode in which image data obtained in a second area having an aspect ratio substantially the same as the area is continuously displayed on the display means;
A second control means for controlling the variable power lens in order to adjust the field frame of the image displayed on the display means;
In the second mode, the first control means switches from the first mode to the second mode when the zoom lens is not set to the wide side as compared with the first mode. Thus, the field frame of the image displayed on the display means becomes small, and in the first mode, when the zoom lens is not set to the tele side than in the second mode, By switching from the mode to the first mode, the image data obtained in the first area and the second area obtained so that the field frame of the image displayed on the display means becomes larger. An image pickup apparatus displaying image data on the display means.
2. The A / D converter according to claim 1, wherein the A / D converter converts image data obtained by the imaging means into a digital signal.
