Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an ink jet head that ejects ink droplets to form an ink image on a recording medium such as recording paper.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, various proposals have been made for the configuration of an ink jet head mounted on an ink jet printer. As an example, for the drive electrode of a piezoelectric element fixed to the open surface of an ink pressure chamber formed in a cavity plate, Inkjet heads configured to eject ink droplets from an ink ejection port by applying a drive pulse and generating shear mode deformation in a piezoelectric element to change the volume of an ink pressure chamber are known. The shear mode generates an electric field orthogonal to the polarization direction of the piezoelectric layer to obtain deformation of the piezoelectric layer. However, the deformation efficiency is higher when the piezoelectric layer is thinner. It is preferred to make the layer as thin as possible.
[0003]
On the other hand, if the thickness of the piezoelectric layer constituting one wall of the pressure chamber is small, the rigidity of the piezoelectric layer is insufficient with respect to the pressure generated in the pressure chamber, and the pressure generated in the pressure chamber is reduced due to bending when ink droplets are ejected. Will be invited. When attempting to achieve both deformation efficiency and pressure drop prevention, the piezoelectric layer needs to have a certain thickness, and as a result, there is a problem that a sufficient amount of deformation cannot be obtained.
[0004]
Therefore, an attempt has been made to obtain a large deformation by using a composite mode structure in which the unimorph mode using expansion / contraction deformation is combined with the shear mode. FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view for explaining this composite mode. In FIG. 5A, a

[0008]
According to the ink jet head of the first aspect, it is possible to sufficiently suppress the crosstalk in the combined mode in which the share mode and the expansion / contraction mode are used together, and to realize a stable ink ejection performance.
An ink jet head according to a second aspect of the present invention is the ink jet head according to the first aspect, wherein the laminated piezoelectric element is composed of a plurality of layers of sheet-like piezoelectric material, and the first electrode and the first The two electrodes are respectively formed at a predetermined pitch on the piezoelectric material on which the piezoelectric material on which the common electrode is formed is laminated.
