図5に障害時の処理フローチャートを示す。ストレージシステム5はSAN4に障害が発生した場合にデータ送受信のアクノリッジの応答が無いことでSAN4のネットワーク障害を検出しSAN障害発生処理(S101)を行ない、クライアントシステム1からのデータ送受の内容、転送容量を判断し、通信トラフィックは問題無いか判定処理(S102)を行なう。判定の結果、トラフィックが多い場合には、LAN2経由でサーバシステム3にアラーム処理(S103)を行なうとともにクライアントシステム1に通知を行なう通信処理(S105)を行ない終了する。通信トラフィックに問題が無い場合には、LAN2経由で転送を行なう処理(S104)を実施し、クライアントシステム1にデータ転送をLAN2経由で通信処理(S105)を行ない終了する。SAN4に障害が発生し、かつ通信トラフィックが多くなり通信に時間を要する場合には、時間を要しても通信を実施するか否かを確認し、一時的にサーバシステム3に蓄積後、クライアントシステム1に通信トラフィックが低下した場合に送受することもかのうである。本システム構成図においてクライアントシステム1、サーバシステム3、ストレージシステム5が同一のLANに接続されているが、一般的には、サーバシステム3がクライアントシステム1が低速のLANで接続され、ストレージシステム5が高速のLANで接続される事例が多い。
