Claims (8)
- 入力された光信号を増幅するための光増幅部と、
前記光増幅部によって増幅された光信号の一部を分岐して出力するタップカプラーと、 該分岐光信号から、信号波長帯域に隣接した短波長帯域に属する自然増幅放出光からなる第1検査用光と信号波長帯域に隣接した長波長帯域に属する自然増幅放出光からなる第2検査用光とを抽出するための第1及び第2反射形格子と、
前記第1及び第2検査用光を相互分離するための波長分割多重結合器を備えたサンプリング部と、
前記第1及び第2検査用光のパワーを比較し、そのパワー差によって前記光増幅部へ入力される光信号の入力パワーを調節するための制御信号を出力する入力パワー調節回路と、
前記サンプリング部で分岐された前記分岐光信号のパワーから前記光増幅部の出力パワーを導出し、前記光増幅部の出力パワーが目標値を有するように前記光増幅部を調節する出力パワー調節回路と、
前記制御信号によって前記光増幅部へ入力される光信号のパワーを調節する可変減衰器と、を含むことを特徴とする自動パワー調節機能を有する光ファイバ増幅器。 - 入力された光信号を増幅して可変減衰器へ出力するための補助光増幅部をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光ファイバ増幅器。
- 前記サンプリング部は、第1乃至第3ポートを備え、前記タップカプラーから前記第1ポートを通じて入力された光信号は前記第2ポートを通じて出力し、前記第2ポートを通じて入力された前記第1及び第2検査用光は前記第3ポートを通じて出力するサーキュレータをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の自動パワー調節機能を有する光ファイバ増幅器。
- 前記サンプリング部は、
前記第1及び第2反射形格子を通過した光信号を電気信号へ変換して出力パワー調節回路へ出力する第1光検出器と、
前記波長分割多重結合器によって分離された前記第1検査用光を電気信号へ変換して入力パワー調節回路へ出力する第2光検出器と、
前記前記波長分割多重結合器によって分離された前記第2検査用光を電気信号へ変換して前記入力パワー調節回路へ出力する第3光検出器と、をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の光ファイバ増幅器。 - 前記光増幅部は、エルビウム添加光ファイバを備えるエルビウム添加光ファイバ増幅器を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光ファイバ増幅器。
- 前記光増幅部は、エルビウム添加光ファイバをポンピングするためのポンピング光源をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の光ファイバ増幅器。
- 前記光増幅部は、ポンピング光源から出力されたポンピング光をエルビウム添加光ファイバに結合するための波長分割多重結合器をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の光ファイバ増幅器。
- 出力パワーの目標値は、光増幅部へ入力される光信号の入力パワーによっては変わらないことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光ファイバ増幅器。
