【0045】
sinθin=no ・sin θout(o) …(1)
sinθin=ne ・sin θout(e) …(2)
【0048】
|ΔL|≒t・{(1/no)−(1/ne)}・m2 …(3)

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention provides an image for recording an image by guiding a light beam to a recording medium and performing main scanning and sub-scanning of the light beam with respect to the recording medium by relative movement of the light beam and the recording medium. The present invention relates to a recording apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
A light beam output from a light source, for example, a semiconductor laser, is collected by a condensing optical system, and a recording medium (for example, a recording medium attached to a peripheral surface of a drum that rotates at high speed) is disposed at the focal position. 2. Description of the Related Art An image recording (exposure) apparatus that records (exposures) an image on a recording medium by rotating (main scanning) the drum while scanning (sub-scanning) the light beam in the axial direction of the drum is known. .
[0003]
Here, the scanning surface (hereinafter referred to as the surface to be scanned) of the recording medium attached to the peripheral surface of the drum varies in the optical axis direction. Such fluctuation is an unavoidable phenomenon as long as there is a mechanical operation (drum rotation, etc.), but it is also true that the focal position shifts due to this fluctuation and has a great influence on the image quality.
[0004]
In order to solve this problem and always focus on the surface to be scanned, an autofocus mechanism in which a mechanism for moving the focus according to the distance (or displacement) between the surface to be scanned and the condensing optical system is used. Control is performed to move the condensing optical system so that the surface to be scanned is positioned within the focal depth range.
[0005]
This autofocus mechanism can eliminate focus shift due to fluctuations in the surface to be scanned, but there is a limit from the viewpoint of moving the focus of the condensing optical system. In addition, the autofocus mechanism has a drawback that it cannot cope with a plurality of light beams (multi-beam) and is not reliable.
[0006]
Therefore, the present applicants do not move the focal point, but generate a plurality of focal points in the optical axis direction, and expand the apparent luminous flux width in a certain region with the reaction threshold intensity of the scanned surface. (See Japanese Patent Application No. 10-188681 and Japanese Patent Application No. 11-022292).
[0007]
According to the above proposal, the depth of focus can be expanded with a simple structure as compared with the autofocus mechanism.
[0008]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In consideration of the above facts, the present invention makes the generation positions of a plurality of focal points symmetrical in the optical axis direction, and even if the surface to be scanned fluctuates in the optical axis direction, it can always be within the focal depth. It is an object of the present invention to obtain an image recording apparatus capable of preventing image quality deterioration.
[0014]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
A light source that outputs a light beam;
A cylindrical lens for diverging or condensing the light beam output from the light source only in one of the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction;
A condensing optical system for condensing the light beams in the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction of the light beam with reference to the recording medium;
An optically anisotropic element disposed in a light beam of the light beam diverging or condensing by the cylindrical lens and having a different refractive index in a main scanning direction and a sub-scanning direction;
Is provided.
[0015]
[0016]
That is, for example, when a uniaxial crystal is used as the optically anisotropic element, when the optically anisotropic element is disposed at a position where it diverges or condenses only in the sub-scanning direction, main scanning by this optically anisotropic element is performed. Multiple focal points in the direction are not generated. Accordingly, it is possible to make a plurality of focal points independently only in the sub-scanning direction. At this time, for example, if a single focal position in the main scanning direction is aligned with an intermediate point of a plurality of focal points generated in the sub scanning direction, the light intensity (intensity) peaks coincide with each focal position in the sub scanning direction. And the depth of focus can be substantially enlarged.
[0017]
[0018]
[0019]
Claim 3 In the invention described in, an image is recorded by guiding a light beam to a recording medium, and performing main scanning and sub-scanning of the light beam with respect to the recording medium by relative movement of the light beam and the recording medium. An image recording device for
A light source that outputs a light beam;
A cylindrical lens for diverging or condensing the light beam output from the light source only in one of the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction;
A condensing optical system for condensing the light beams in the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction of the light beam with reference to the recording medium;
A first optical anisotropic element disposed in a light beam of the light beam diverging or condensing by the cylindrical lens and having a different refractive index in a main scanning direction and a sub-scanning direction;
A second optical anisotropic element disposed in a light beam of the light beam diverging or condensing by the condensing optical system and having a different refractive index in a main scanning direction and a sub-scanning direction;
Is provided.
[0020]
Claim 3 Since the second optically anisotropic element is disposed at a position where the second optical anisotropic element diverges or condenses in both the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction of the light beam, The optically anisotropic element generates a plurality of focal points in both the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction. For example, the second optically anisotropic element mainly sets one of the focal positions in the main scanning direction or the sub-scanning direction, and the first optically anisotropic element serves as the sub-scanning direction. The other focal position in the scanning direction is adjusted. As described above, since one of the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction can be adjusted independently while being correlated with each other, the degree of freedom in combining the optically anisotropic elements can be increased.
[0021]
Claim 4 The invention according to
[0022]
Claim 4 According to the invention described in the above, when the light source to be used has a substantially square intensity distribution, for example, a BLD (Broad Area Laser Diode), the rotation direction of the rotating drum of the image recording apparatus is set to the longitudinal direction of the substantially square shape. When matched with the axial direction, the intensity distribution in the main scanning direction is a general Gaussian beam shape and the depth of focus is deep, whereas the intensity distribution in the sub-scanning direction, which is the rotation axis direction, is not a Gaussian beam shape. , The depth of focus becomes shallower.
[0023]
In this case, the focal depth of the laser beam with respect to the recording medium can be increased by generating a plurality of focal points only in the sub-scanning direction and arranging the plurality of focal points in the sub-scanning direction before and after the focal point in the main scanning direction. .
[0024]
Claims 5 According to the invention described in ,light For example, a uniaxial crystal can be used as the chemical anisotropic element.
[0025]
Claims 6 Or 7 According to the invention described in the above, at least one half-wave plate or quarter-wave plate is disposed between the light source and the multifocal generation means or the optically anisotropic element, and these can be rotationally controlled. Thus, the amount of light beam at each focal point generated in the vicinity of the recording medium can be adjusted to be equal (equal intensity).

[0046]
As described above, since the refractive index is different between the ordinary light and the extraordinary light, the focal position where the image is formed becomes a different position in the optical axis direction. That is, the focal point of abnormal light (see position h in FIG. 12) is formed on the near side in the optical axis direction with the surface of the

As a result, the laser beam L output from the semiconductor laser LD has a necessary and sufficient intensity and can expand the depth of focus as shown in the characteristic diagram of the spot size with respect to the optical axis position in FIG. The feature of the third embodiment is that there are a plurality of different characteristics on the optical path that condenses or diverges in either the main scanning direction or the sub-scanning direction and on the optical path that condenses in the main scanning direction or the sub-scanning direction. The optical anisotropic element as a focal point generating means is arranged.

Here, the optical axis of the lithium niobate used as the second optically anisotropic element 54B is the front side to the back side of the sheet of FIG. 11B (see the symbol with x in the circle). [0066]
The second optical anisotropic element 54B has a function of forming a double focus by refracting not only the sub-scanning direction but also the laser beam L in the main scanning direction.
[0067]
That is, since the optical axis of lithium niobate used as the second optically anisotropic element 54B is the front side to the back side of the sheet of FIG. With the normal position of the photosensitive material F as the center, the focal point of abnormal light (see position h in FIG. 12) is formed on the near side, and the focal point of ordinary light (see position g in FIG. 12) is formed on the far side.
[0068]
Thus, in the third embodiment, the laser beam L is emitted in the sub-scanning direction by the two optical anisotropic elements, the first optical
[0069]

[0070]
By combining these, a double focus can be formed at a position equivalent to the main scanning direction.
[0071]
According to the third embodiment, it is possible to adjust the position of the formed double focus by using two or more optically anisotropic elements. Therefore, it is sufficient to develop this principle and, for example, the necessary optical anisotropic elements can be arranged at all positions on the optical path. However, when the arrangement position is limited, a plurality of optical anisotropic elements are arranged on the arrangementable optical path. It is possible to set the focal position and the like by arranging and combining the optically anisotropic elements.

It has an excellent effect that image quality deterioration can be prevented.
