BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image reading device (for example, a character recognition device) that optically reads an image (image) from a sheet-like record carrier such as a form, and in particular, a white reference body that is a reference for color balance control of image information. The present invention relates to a structure for preventing fouling and adhesion of foreign matters to the white reference body.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a character recognition device (hereinafter referred to as “recognizing optically reading image information such as characters and figures recorded on a form via a reduced imaging sensor unit disposed on a conveyance path through which the form is conveyed”). OCR) is known.
[0003]
In the reduction imaging type sensor unit, when the form reaches the reading position on the transport path, the form is irradiated with light from a fluorescent lamp, and the light reflected from the form is reflected by an optical system including a reflection mirror and a lens. Leads to the CCD image sensor. For this reason, the image information of the form is input to the CCD image sensor as light shading information, where it is converted into an electric signal and read.
[0004]
By the way, in the conventional OCR, in order to cope with the light quantity fluctuation of the fluorescent lamp as a light source, color balance correction control is executed by a CCD image sensor to stabilize the image.
[0005]
Specifically, as shown in, for example, “JP-A-4-208935” and “JP-A-6-291938”, a white reference plate serving as a reference for color balance control is arranged on the conveyance path of the form, Before the image information on the form is read, the surface of the white reference plate is irradiated with light from a fluorescent lamp, and the amount of white reflected light and RGB color balance are measured with a CCD image sensor. Read data correction control is performed.
[0006]
The prior art white reference plate is movably installed between a first position that advances to a reading position on the conveyance path and a second position that retreats from the reading position. The white reference plate is moved to a first position prior to the start of reading image information. At this first position, the surface of the white reference plate is irradiated with the light of a fluorescent lamp, and its reflected light CCD color balance correction control is executed so that all the bits of the CCD image sensor output become the same by receiving the light.
[0007]
In addition, the white reference plate moves to the second position before the form reaches the reading position on the conveyance path, and retreats from the conveyance path. For this reason, when reading of the image information is started, the form and the surface of the white reference plate are kept in a non-contact state, and the reading of the image information and the color balance correction control are performed at the same place on the conveyance path. While being configured, the white reference body can be prevented from being stained or damaged.
[0008]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
According to the above prior art, the white reference plate is held at the second position off the conveyance path during the period when the image information reading process is being executed. However, since the second position where the white reference plate is held is set below the transport path, the white reference body is transported along the transport path even when it is moved to the second position. It is in a state of facing the form.
[0009]
For this reason, if a foreign substance such as paper dust, paper piece or dust attached to the form is peeled off during transportation, the foreign substance may fall toward the white reference plate, and this foreign matter increases the number of reading processes of the form. As a result, it tends to adhere to or remain on the white reference plate.
[0010]
In particular, as can be seen in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 6-291938, this white reference plate is used when the white reference plate advances into the conveyance path of the form or retreats from the conveyance path while maintaining a substantially horizontal posture. The surface of the board always faces the form. Therefore, once a foreign object adheres to the surface of the white reference body, it becomes difficult for the foreign object to be peeled off from the white reference plate, and the surface of the white reference plate becomes dirty early.
[0011]
As a result, accurate color balance correction control based on white becomes difficult, causing problems such as reading errors and unstable read image information.
[0012]
In addition, in order to suppress the occurrence of reading errors, the white reference plate must be frequently cleaned, and accordingly, maintenance work for the image reading apparatus is required, which increases the burden on the operator. There is a problem.
[0013]
The present invention has been made based on such circumstances, and can reliably prevent the white surface of the white reference body from being soiled and accurately correct the read data of the image information. No need for frequent cleaningIn addition, image information reading errors and record carrier transport errors are less likely to occur. An object is to provide an image reading apparatus.
[0014]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
To achieve the above objective,According to one aspect of the inventionThe image reading device
A transport path for transporting a sheet-like record carrier;
A sensor unit that optically reads image information recorded on the record carrier by irradiating the record carrier conveyed along the conveyance path with light and receiving reflected light from the record carrier;
A white surface for correcting the output of the sensor unit that reads the image information to be the same on a part of the outer surface, and having an outer surface exposed to the conveyance path.A first position at which the white surface is exposed to the transport path and receives the light; and a second position at which the white surface recedes below the transport path when reading image information on the record carrier. A rod-shaped white reference body that is installed in the transport path so as to be rotatable in the direction around the axis, and
A cover that is disposed around the white reference body and covers the white surface when the white reference body is rotated to the second position; It has.
[0015]
AndThe outer surface of the white reference body except the white surface is processed in black, and the white reference body is exposed to the transport path when the white reference body is rotated to the second position. The part has an inclined surface that is inclined downward with respect to this transport path.It is a feature.
[0016]
According to such a configuration, when reading the image information of the record carrier, when the white reference body is rotated from the first position to the second position, the white surface of the white reference body is covered by the cover. Is called. For this reason, the white surface does not have to be exposed to the outside below the conveyance path, and even if foreign matter such as dust attached to the record carrier falls during conveyance, the foreign matter may adhere to the white surface, It becomes difficult to remain in. Therefore, accurate correction of read data based on white can be performed, and good image information can be captured.
[0017]
At the same time, it is possible to prevent the white surface of the white reference body from being soiled for a long period of time, thus eliminating the need for frequent cleaning of the white reference surface and reducing the labor required for maintenance of the white reference body. it can.
[0018]
Furthermore, when the white reference body is rotated to the second position, the outer surface of the white reference body exposed to the transport path is inclined downward with respect to the transport path.Even if a foreign substance falls from the record carrier during the image information reading process, the foreign substance slides down along the inclined surface of the white reference body and does not remain on the black outer surface.
[0019]
Therefore, when reading image information,Sensor unitA foreign object is not mistaken for image information or the beginning of a record carrier, and image information reading errors and record carrier conveyance errors are less likely to occur.
[0020]
To achieve the above objective,According to another aspect of the inventionThe image reading device
A transport path for transporting a sheet-like record carrier;
A sensor unit that optically reads image information recorded on the record carrier by irradiating the record carrier conveyed along the conveyance path with light and receiving reflected light from the record carrier;
The outer surface exposed to the transport path has a white surface for correcting the output of the sensor unit that reads the image information to be the same on a part of the outer surface, and the white surface is The first position exposed to the transport path and receiving the light, and the second position where the white surface recedes below the transport path when reading the image information of the record carrier, in the direction around the axis. A rod-shaped white reference body that is rotatably installed in the transport path;
A cover that is disposed around the white reference body and covers the white surface when the white reference body is rotated to the second position.
The white reference body includes a slit-like through hole extending in the axial direction at a position avoiding the white surface, and the through hole is formed in a vertical direction when the white reference body is rotated to the second position. And the opening portion opened on the outer surface of the white reference body is exposed to the conveyance path.It is characterized by.
[0021]
According to such a configuration,Even if a foreign substance falls from the recording medium during the image information reading process, the foreign substance is guided to the through hole from the opening, passes through the through hole, falls, and remains on the black outer surface. There is no.
For this reason, when reading image information, the sensor unit does not erroneously recognize a foreign object as image information or the start of a record carrier, and it is difficult for image information read errors and record carrier conveyance errors to occur.

【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention described in detail above, even if foreign matters such as paper dust, paper pieces and dust attached to the record carrier are peeled off during the reading process, the foreign matters adhere to the white surface or remain there. Can be prevented. For this reason, the white surface is less likely to become dirty, and correct correction of read data based on white can be performed.
[0102]
Furthermore, since the frequent cleaning work of the white surface is not required, the labor required for the maintenance of the white reference body can be reduced, and the burden on the operator can be reduced accordingly, and the operating efficiency of the apparatus can be improved. it can.
At the same time, even if foreign matter falls from the record carrier during the image information reading process, the foreign matter does not remain on the black outer surface of the white reference body. Therefore, when reading the image information, the sensor unit does not mistake the foreign object as the image information or the start of the record carrier, and it is difficult for the image information read error and the record carrier transport error to occur. There are advantages such as.
