Description
【0001】

{実施の形態1}
【0036】
{実施の形態2}
【0047】
{実施の形態3}
【0052】
{実施の形態4}
【0069】
{実施の形態5}
【0082】
{実施の形態6}

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a video display apparatus and a video display method in which display image brightness and brightness change amount are optimally controlled according to viewing time and viewing environment.
[0002]
[Prior art]
As a conventional video display device, there has been a technique of measuring the pupil area by a pupil area sensor and performing gradation correction of a display signal based on the measurement result (for example, Patent Document 1). In this case, ambient illuminance and display signal contents are not sensed.
[0003]
Alternatively, in a vehicle-mounted display, there has been a technique for detecting the ambient light amount state and its temporal change, predicting the pupil opening amount variation corresponding thereto, and controlling the brightness of the display content (for example, Patent Document 2). .

[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the conventional video display device as described above, even when the pupil area is small due to a bright viewing environment, the video gradation signal is corrected, and if it is corrected in the dark direction, the visibility is improved. On the other hand, when it is corrected in the bright direction, the light amount input to the eyes becomes large, and the visibility deteriorates.
[0006]
In addition, since the feedback is performed so that the video signal gradation is corrected for the first time by measuring the pupil area, the signal content suddenly becomes brighter with the pupil area widened by the video signal input in the dark scene especially in the dark viewing environment. If this is the case, stress on the eyes and eyes is inevitable.
[0007]
Furthermore, from the viewpoint that the amount of pupil opening is uniquely determined according to the ambient light amount variation as in
[0008]
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a video display device and a video display method capable of avoiding lack of realism due to lack of contrast due to excessive luminance restriction and realizing avoidance of stress on eyes and vision due to light input change. There is to do.
[0009]

In order to solve the above-mentioned problem, the invention according to
[0010]
According to a sixth aspect of the present invention, there is provided an average luminance data accumulation block that obtains and accumulates average luminance data for each frame from luminance data of each frame extracted from the input video signal, and each extracted from the input video signal. A peak luminance data accumulation block that extracts and accumulates peak luminance data in each frame from luminance data of a frame, a luminance change database that accumulates a plurality of luminance change patterns, and the average luminance data given from the average luminance data accumulation block And a comparison determination block for determining whether or not a predetermined setting condition is satisfied with respect to the peak luminance data given from the peak luminance data storage block and a luminance limit value for limiting the luminance of the video signal. A luminance control block to be controlled in accordance with the output from the block, and the luminance control block; A display device that displays video while receiving luminance control in accordance with the luminance limit value in the configuration, and the setting condition is that the change in the average luminance data given from the average luminance data storage block is the luminance The change in the peak luminance data extracted by the peak luminance data storage block is present in the luminance change pattern accumulated in the luminance change database. And the luminance control block lowers the luminance limit value of the video signal displayed on the display device when the setting condition is satisfied.

【The invention's effect】
According to this invention, even when the state of low visual environment illuminance continues for a certain period of time and a video with a low display average brightness is input for a certain period of time or more, the viewer's pupil is expanded. By reducing the brightness limit value of the image, it is possible to easily prevent an excessive amount of light from being suddenly input to the viewer's eyes without increasing the brightness of the display image more than necessary.
