BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a satellite communication method for performing satellite communication between a gateway station and a ground station via a plurality of communication satellites that sequentially fly in the zenith direction, a satellite communication device used for the method, a ground station, and a gateway station. It is about.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Examples of systems that perform communication using a group of communication satellites in orbit include communication systems such as iridium and global star. In the case of the Iridium system, a total of 66 communication satellites circulate in low orbit, and each satellite itself has an exchange function and an inter-satellite communication function, and is distant from each other via communication between a plurality of adjacent satellites. Communication between terminals far away from each other is possible. That is, each communication terminal on the ground communicates with a communication satellite capable of communication, and can communicate with a distant terminal that has a communication link with another communication satellite via communication between the communication satellites.
[0003]
Because the communication satellite orbits in orbit, the communication satellites that are linked from each communication terminal on the ground are not always the same, and they move out of the coverage area of one communication satellite and move to the coverage area of another communication satellite. To go. At this time, each communication terminal on the ground disconnects the communication link with one communication satellite and establishes a communication link with another satellite. This operation is called inter-satellite handover.
[0004]
In such an inter-satellite handover in a satellite communication system, for example, a terrestrial communication terminal monitors a received radio wave from a communication satellite, and when the received radio wave becomes a predetermined value or less, a handover request signal is sent from the terrestrial communication terminal. Is transmitted to the communication satellite, and the request signal is disconnected from one communication satellite link and the communication link is established with another communication satellite.
[0005]
FIG. 13 is a sequence diagram showing inter-satellite handover processing disclosed in, for example, Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2000-315972. FIG. 13 illustrates a handover from the first communication satellite that orbits the orbit to the second communication satellite, and is intended for subscribers who are terrestrial communication terminals. In FIG. 13, first, from the NOC (ground station) to all communication satellites, the physical position (latitude, longitude) immediately below where the communication satellite navigates, a schedule indicating the time, and the preceding stage of the communication satellite, The physical position (latitude, longitude) immediately below where the communication satellite located in the latter stage navigates, the schedule indicating the time, the physical position (latitude, longitude) directly below where the communication satellite adjacent to that communication satellite navigates, A schedule indicating the time is transmitted, and these pieces of information are registered in all the communication satellites (A1, A2).
[0006]
Based on the information related to the communication satellite, the first communication satellite calculates a handover start time, calculates a handover completion time, adds it to the control signal, and transmits it to the second communication satellite as the handover destination. To do. When the second communication satellite receives the control signal and the additional information, a handover between the first communication satellite and the second communication satellite is started (A3). Further, a downlink message to the subscriber is transmitted from the first communication satellite to the second communication satellite (A4). The first communication satellite transmits the last communication data to the subscriber on the communication link established with the subscriber (A5), and then the second communication satellite newly communicates with the subscriber. The first communication data to the subscriber is transmitted through the communication link established between them (A6). Thereafter, an uplink communication link from the subscriber to the communication satellite is prepared, the last uplink (A7) for the first communication satellite and the first uplink (A8) for the second communication satellite. )I do.
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In a conventional satellite communication system, a terrestrial communication terminal monitors a radio wave received from a communication satellite, and when the received radio wave becomes a predetermined value or less, a handover request signal is transmitted from the terrestrial communication terminal to the communication satellite, A communication link is established between communication satellites in response to this request signal, and after handover control is performed between communication satellites, communication data is transmitted to the communication terminal on the ground and completed. Had the problem of needing to send and receive large amounts of data. Further, since a handover process is performed between communication satellites, each communication satellite requires a transmission / reception device for a communication link between the communication satellites, a calculation device for the handover process, and a storage device for storing processing information. In addition, there has been a problem that the communication satellite becomes larger and the reliability of the communication satellite is lowered. Further, in the inter-satellite handover method disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2000-315972, the handover start request time from the ground communication terminal is determined by predicting the handover start time based on the position information of the communication satellite. Although it can be omitted, there is a problem in that the calculation of the handover processing start time in the communication satellite is required every moment, which increases the processing scale on the satellite side.
[0008]
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and in a communication system via communication satellites that sequentially fly in the zenith direction, the handover process is shortened and the handover process circuit scale is reduced. In the receiving station (the ground station or the gateway station may be the receiving station), the failure of receiving the switching information is, for example, a case where the receiving station is shielded within a predetermined elevation range in the zenith direction.
