Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an X-ray computed tomography apparatus that reconstructs a tomographic image based on projection data relating to a subject.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, useful X-ray computed tomography, which can observe the internal structure of a subject in a circular state, can be viewed as a moving image in real time in parallel with the scan by speeding up the reconstruction process. It is becoming. Furthermore, X-ray computed tomography differs from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in that the teeth are filled with metal during dental treatment, and a stainless steel or titanium stopper, such as a cerebrovascular stopper, or a bone graft. Because it is possible to shoot without harming a patient whose magnetic body such as a bolt is embedded in the body, and a magnetic body such as a knife can be used around it, in the near future, As with the X-ray television system, it is expected to be put to practical use as a surgery support device.
[0003]
However, the above-mentioned strong X-ray absorbers typified by metals and the like are considered to cause little harm to the patient at the time of radiography, but cause so-called metal artifacts on the reconstructed tomographic image and deteriorate the image quality. I will let you. In other words, the intensity of X-rays is usually selected based on the water that makes up most of the human body. At this intensity, most of the metal part is absorbed and the intensity of transmitted X-rays is negligible. . Therefore, most of the tissue information (X-ray absorption rate information) on the X-ray path is lost from the projection data passing through the metal part. A false image is generated. This false image is called the above-mentioned metal artifact.
[0004]
Conventionally, in order to eliminate this metal artifact, a metal portion is extracted from the projection data, and the projection data of the channel is interpolated with respect to the channel direction, or the projection data is collected in a slice thinner than usual, thereby acquiring the projection data within one slice. Countermeasures such as minimizing the influence of changes in metal shape are being taken.
However, the current situation is that metal artifacts cannot be resolved by such measures alone.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
An object of the present invention is to provide an X-ray computed tomography apparatus capable of effectively reducing metal artifacts.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
An X-ray computed tomography apparatus according to the present invention includes a plurality of X-ray generation means for emitting X-rays toward a subject in a quadrangular pyramid shape, and a plurality of projection data obtained by detecting the X-rays transmitted through the subject. Means in which X-ray detection channels are two-dimensionally arranged with respect to the channel direction and the segment direction, and the projection data is compared with a predetermined threshold value for each X-ray detection channel, whereby strong X-rays in the subject Means for determining a specific X-ray detection channel whose signal intensity is extremely reduced due to the absorber, and projection data of the specific X-ray detection channel, the specific X-ray detection channel and the position in the segment direction Means for correcting to a value derived from projection data of an X-ray detection channel not affected by the strong X-ray absorber, and the strong other than the specific X-ray detection channel And projection data other X-ray detector channel that is not influenced by the linear absorption body, on the basis of the corrected projection data of the particular X-ray detector channels, and means for reconstructing a tomographic image.
[0009]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Embodiments of the X-ray computed tomography apparatus according to the present invention will be described below. In the computed tomography apparatus, an X-ray tube and an X-ray detector are combined as a single unit, and ROTATE / ROTATE-TYPE, which rotates around the subject, is fixed with a large number of detection elements arrayed in a ring shape. There are various types such as STATIONARY / ROTATE-TYPE in which only the tube is rotated around the subject, and the present invention can be applied to any type. Here, it is described as ROTATE / ROTATE-TYPE, which currently occupies the mainstream.
[0010]
In addition, in order to reconstruct one tomographic image, one set of projection data for about 360 degrees around the subject and one projection data for about 210 degrees to 240 degrees by the half scan method. A set is needed. Although the present invention can be applied to any of the methods, here, description will be made assuming that one tomographic image is reconstructed from the projection data set of about 360 degrees of the general former.
[0011]
FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing the configuration of a computed tomography apparatus according to this embodiment. FIG. 2 schematically shows the structure of the multi-slice X-ray detector shown in FIG. The scanning main body is equipped with a

On the other hand, in the case of a semiconductor X-ray detector, a plurality of X-ray detection elements are two-dimensionally arranged in the channel direction and the segment direction. In this case, each of the X-ray detection channels is constituted by a group unit of one X-ray detection element or two or three neighboring X-ray detection elements.

FIG. 3 shows the procedure of the correction method for correcting the projection data of the X-ray detection channel in which the extreme signal intensity by the strong X-ray absorber according to the present embodiment is reduced or the signal is completely dropped. First, scanning is started, and projection data for 360 degrees around the subject is collected. As is well known, this movement is generated after the
[0019]
FIG. 4 shows that when a cone
[0020]
Therefore, the collected projection data is individually compared with a predetermined threshold, and the X-ray detection channel whose signal intensity is equal to or less than the threshold is a specific X-ray detection channel in which the strong X-ray absorber exists on the X-ray path. Can be determined. This determination and correction described later are preferably performed using projection data after performing intensity correction and water correction in order to remove variations in sensitivity between channels that are not caused by X-ray intensity.
[0021]
The projection data is corrected with respect to the specific X-ray detection channel determined in this way. This correction method is performed by expanding the field of view not only in the channel direction but also in the segment direction as in the prior art. The effect of reducing artifacts is improved, that is, the projection data of a specific X-ray detection channel whose signal intensity is extremely reduced due to the strong X-ray absorber is converted into the specific X-ray detection channel and the segment. It is characterized in that it is corrected to a value derived including at least projection data of an X-ray detection channel not affected by a strong X-ray absorber having a different position in the direction. A more specific correction method will be described below with reference to FIG.
[0022]
FIG. 5 shows a two-dimensional view of the projection data of all channels simultaneously obtained at a certain view angle in each channel of the multi-slice X-ray detector with respect to the segment direction and the channel direction. . For convenience of explanation, the X-ray detection channel is identified by the notation “(segment number, channel number)”.
(1) In the first correction method described first, the projection data of a specific X-ray detection channel whose signal intensity has been significantly reduced due to the presence of a strong X-ray absorber on the X-ray path is obtained. The signal intensity is not affected by the X-ray detection channels around the specific X-ray detection channel, specifically, the strong X-ray absorber. Among the X-ray detection channels exceeding the threshold value, the projection data of the X-ray detection channel closest to the specific X-ray detection channel is replaced.

For example, when the projection data of the (3, 4) X-ray detection channel is corrected, the projection data is closest to the corrected channel (3, 4) and is not affected by the strong X-ray absorber. Replace with projection data of X-ray detection channel (2, 3).
(2) Next, in the second correction method, the signal intensity of the specific X-ray detection channel (3, 4) whose signal intensity has significantly decreased due to the presence of the strong X-ray absorber on the X-ray path. This is a method in which the projection data is replaced with projection data in which the signal intensity in all channels has the lowest value.
(3) Next, in the third correction method, the projection data of the specific X-ray detection channel (3, 4) is converted into the segment having the same segment number (3) as the specific X-ray detection channel (3,4) From the direction and the channel direction of the same channel number (4) as the specific X-ray detection channel (3, 4), select a direction with a small number of channels determined to be affected by the strong X-ray absorber. And linear or non-linear interpolation using a linear or higher order equation with respect to the selected direction, that is, projection data of a specific X-ray detection channel (3, 4) is transferred to other channels in the selected direction. Is replaced with a value derived from a predetermined equation.
(4) Next, the fourth correction method is a method that can be realized by a local two-dimensional filter, that is, projection data of a specific X-ray detection channel (3,4) is detected by a specific X-ray detection. Each of the projection data of a plurality of X-ray detection channels existing in a predetermined size area centered on the channel (3, 4) and extending in both the segment direction and the channel direction is multiplied by a coefficient individually. Is replaced with a value obtained by adding.
[0024]
As another method, the projection data of a specific X-ray detection channel may be replaced with a predetermined constant value.
Thus, each slice is reconstructed by the
[0025]
As described above, the metal artifact can be effectively reduced by expanding the correction visual field not only in the channel direction but also in the segment direction.
In the above description, the X-ray detection channel affected by the strong X-ray absorber is determined by comparing the projection data with the threshold value. However, there is a possibility that this determination may be leaked in the projection data. This is because strong X-ray absorbers (metals) such as cerebrovascular stoppers are generally small and projection data may not be sufficiently small.
[0026]
Therefore, in order to improve this determination accuracy, it is conceivable to perform this determination using a tomographic image reconstructed based on projection data before correction.
FIG. 6 shows a correction processing procedure including this determination. First, the projection data is collected, and all the X-ray detection channels before correction, that is, the projection data of the X-ray detection channel not affected by the strong X-ray absorber and the influence of the strong X-ray absorber. As shown in FIG. 7, a portion having a pixel value equal to or less than a specific threshold value from a tomographic image reconstructed by the

The specified X-ray detection channel is corrected in the same manner as described above, and the corrected projection data and projections of other X-ray detection channels that are not originally affected by the strong X-ray absorber are performed. Based on the data, the
[0028]
In such a determination method, a strong X-ray absorber that is generally small, such as a cerebrovascular stopper, may be difficult to determine on projection data. Since it is an object, it can often be determined by a tomographic image.
[0029]
Even when the strong X-ray absorber cannot be extracted by the calculation process of the
The present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above, and can be implemented with various modifications.

【The invention's effect】
According to the first aspect of the present invention, the projection data of the specific X-ray detection channel whose signal intensity is extremely reduced due to the strong X-ray absorber in the subject is converted into the specific X-ray detection channel and the segment direction. Is corrected to a value derived from the projection data of the X-ray detection channel not affected by the strong X-ray absorber, so that the projection data of a specific X-ray detection channel is interpolated only in the channel direction. Can effectively reduce metal artifacts.
