本発明は、溶融炭酸塩型燃料電池を用いた燃料電池発電設備のカソード温度制御方法及び装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
溶融炭酸塩型燃料電池は、高効率、かつ環境への影響が少ないなど、従来の発電装置にはない特徴を有しており、水力・火力・原子力に続く発電システムとして注目を集め、現在世界各国で鋭意研究開発が行われている。特に天然ガスを燃料とする溶融炭酸塩型燃料電池を用いた発電設備では、図2に示すように天然ガス等の燃料ガス1を水素を含むアノードガス2に改質する改質器10と、アノードガス2と酸素を含むカソードガス3とから発電する燃料電池20とを備えており、改質器10で作られたアノードガス2は燃料電池20に供給され、燃料電池内でその大部分(例えば80%)を消費した後、アノード排ガス4として冷却器32、セパレータ34に入り、水分を除去されて改質器10の燃焼室10aに供給される。改質器10ではアノード排ガス4中の可燃成分(水素、一酸化炭素、メタン等)が燃焼室10aで燃焼し、高温の燃焼ガスにより改質管10bを加熱し改質管内を通る燃料ガス1を改質する。改質管10bを出た燃焼排ガス5はタービン圧縮機44から供給される加圧空気6及び循環されるカソード排ガス7と合流してカソードガス3となり、燃料電池20のカソード側に必要な二酸化炭素を供給する。燃料電池内でその一部が反応したカソードガス(カソード排ガス7)は、循環ブロア22により燃料電池20の上流側に一部が循環され、残りはタービン圧縮機44で圧力を回収され、排熱回収装置50で熱を回収されて系外に排出される。

燃料電池は、融点の高い溶融炭酸塩を電解液として用いており、平均温度が500℃以下となると電解液が部分的に凝縮し、逆に700℃以上になると電解液の蒸発や腐食が激しくなる問題がある。このため、従来、燃料電池の温度制御は、タービン圧縮機44からの空気6の量により最高温度(出口温度)を制御し、循環ブロワ22によるカソード排ガス7の循環量により最低温度(入口温度)を制御していた。すなわち、燃料電池20に入るカソードガス3の温度を所定の範囲(例えば550〜600℃)になるように循環ブロワ22を制御して循環するカソード排ガス7の流量を増減させ、カソード排ガス7の温度が所定の範囲(例えば680〜700℃)になるようにタービン圧縮機44からの空気量を制御していた。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
燃料電池発電設備では負荷が下がるにつれてカソード出口温度が下がる傾向にある。このため部分負荷運転の場合、カソード入口温度を所定の温度に保つためにカソード排ガス7の循環量が大幅に増大する。このため循環ブロワ22の容量は部分負荷時の負荷により決まり、定格負荷時は循環ブロワ22を低容量の低効率の状態で使用しなければならないという問題点があった。

本発明は、上述の問題点に鑑みてなされたもので、カソード排ガスの温度を制御することによりカソード排ガスの循環量の変動を少なくすることを目的とする。また循環ブロワの容量を少なくすることを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するため、請求項1の発明では、水素を含むアノードガスと酸素を含むカソードガスとから発電する溶融炭酸塩型燃料電池と、該溶融炭酸塩型燃料電池のカソード排ガスの一部を循環ブロアによりカソードに循環するカソード循環ラインと、該カソード循環ラインを流れるガスと混合させる圧縮空気を供給する圧縮空気供給ラインとを備えた溶融炭酸塩型燃料電池発電設備のカソード温度制御方法であって、前記圧縮空気の量によりカソードガスのカソード出口温度を制御し、循環するカソード排ガスの温度を前記循環ブロアによるカソードガスの循環量を増大させないような温度に調節して、前記カソードに供給されるカソードガスのカソード入口温度を制御する。

請求項2の発明では、水素を含むアノードガスと酸素を含むカソードガスとから発電する溶融炭酸塩型燃料電池と、該溶融炭酸塩型燃料電池のカソード排ガスの一部を循環ブロアによりカソードに循環するカソード循環ラインと、該カソード循環ラインを流れるガスと混合させる圧縮空気を供給する圧縮空気供給ラインを備えた溶融炭酸塩型燃料電池発電設備のカソード温度制御装置であって、前記圧縮空気の量によりカソードガスのカソード出口温度を制御し、前記カソード循環ラインには、循環するカソード排ガスを加熱する加熱器が設けられ、該加熱器は、カソード入口温度を前記循環ブロアによるカソードガスの循環量を増大させないような温度に保持するように加熱量を制御する。

請求項1の発明によれば、循環するカソード排ガスの温度を循環ブロアによるカソードガスの循環量を増大させないような温度に調整し、混合してカソードガスとすることによりカソードガスの入口温度を制御することができる。これにより、部分負荷時カソード排ガスの温度が低下してもカソード入口の温度を所定の範囲に保つため循環量を増やす必要がない。

以下、本発明の好ましい実施例を図面を参照して説明する。図1は、本発明を実施する燃料電池発電設備の全体構成図である。図2と同一符号は同一機能を有するものを表す。この図において、燃料電池発電設備は、改質器10、水素を含むアノードガス2と酸素を含むカソードガス3とから発電する燃料電池20、セパレータ34、燃料電池を通過したカソード排ガス7により駆動され空気6を加圧するタービン圧縮機44、排熱回収装置50等を備え、改質器10で燃料ガス1を改質し、燃料電池20で発電し、セパレータ34でアノード排ガス4中の水分を除去し、タービン圧縮機44でカソード排ガス7の圧力を回収し、排熱回収装置50で排熱を回収するようになっている。また、燃料電池20の上流側にカソード排ガス7の一部を循環する循環ブロア22と、燃料電池に入るカソードガス3の温度を検出してこの温度が所定の範囲(550〜600℃)になるように循環するカソード排ガス7の温度を制御してカソード入口温度を制御する加熱器26とを備えている。また、符号25は、カソード循環ライン24を流れるガスと混合させる圧縮空気6を供給する圧縮空気供給ラインである。
