Description
【0001】

【0027】
更に、ナビゲーション装置は、ADPCM(Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation )データを入力することにより、音声による案内が可能になる。

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a data transfer method for inputting map data from outside the vehicle (information center) via a communication line in a navigation device that detects the current position of the vehicle and guides the vehicle to a destination.
[0002]
[Prior art]
The vehicle-mounted navigation device includes a map data storage device such as a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM (hereinafter simply referred to as “CD-ROM”) on which map data is recorded, a display device, a GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver, It has a sensor for detecting the current position and current direction of the vehicle, such as a gyro and a vehicle speed sensor, reads out map data including the current position of the vehicle from the map data storage device, and a map around the vehicle position based on the map data While drawing the image on the display screen, the vehicle position mark (location) is displayed superimposed on the display screen, the map image is scrolled and displayed as the vehicle moves, and the map image is fixed on the screen and the vehicle position mark is displayed. Or move it so that you can see at a glance where the vehicle is currently driving.
[0003]
In general, the in-vehicle navigation device is equipped with a route guidance function that allows the user to easily travel to a desired destination without making a mistake on the road. According to this route guidance function, the lowest cost route connecting from the starting point to the destination using map data is automatically searched by performing simulation calculation such as horizontal search method or Dijkstra method, and the searched route is guided. Memorize it as a route and draw a guidance route on the map image with a different color from other roads and display it on the screen while driving, or a fixed distance to the intersection where the vehicle should change the route on the guidance route When the user approaches the inside, the user is guided to the destination by drawing an arrow indicating the route at the intersection where the route on the map image should be changed and displaying it on the screen.
[0004]
Cost is based on distance, road width, road type (general road or highway, etc.), a value multiplied by a constant according to right turn and left turn, etc., estimated travel time of vehicle, etc. The degree of appropriateness as a numerical value. Even if there are two routes with the same distance, the cost differs depending on whether the user uses a toll road or not, whether to prioritize travel distance or travel time, etc. Become.
[0005]
Maps stored in a map data storage device such as a CD-ROM have the appropriate longitude and latitude width according to the scale level such as 1/12500, 1/25000, 1/50000, and 1/100000. The roads and the like are stored as coordinate sets of vertices (nodes) expressed by longitude and latitude. A road is formed by connecting two or more nodes, and a portion connecting two nodes is called a link.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In recent years, it has been proposed to send map data to a navigation device from outside the vehicle via a communication line. For example, the latest map data may be stored in a storage device of a predetermined organization (hereinafter referred to as a traffic information center), and the map data may be transferred to a navigation device via a car phone or the like. However, if all the map data is always transferred, it takes a long time to transfer, resulting in a high communication fee and congestion of communication traffic.
[0007]
As described above, an object of the present invention is to provide a data transfer method for a navigation device that transfers map data from an information center via a communication line or the like, and that can transfer only necessary data and shorten the data transfer time. Is to provide a method.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The above-described problem is a data transfer method for a navigation device that transfers map data from an information center having storage means that stores map data to a navigation device via a communication line, wherein the map data is stored in the information center. The navigation device is classified into data essential for map display and route guidance and additional data used for more advanced map display and route guidance . send a second map data request signal, the information center, when the from the navigation device first map data request signal is sent transfers only the required data, the second map data request When the signal is sent, both the essential data and the additional data are transferred. To resolve the data transfer method Shon device.
[0009]
In this case, the navigation device transmits a signal indicating the current position to the information center together with the first or second map data request signal, and the information center is constant from the current position of the navigation device. It is preferable to transfer only the map data of the area within the range.
The operation of the present invention will be described below.
[0010]
In the method of the present invention, the map data stored in the storage means of the information center is classified into data essential for map display and route guidance and additional data used for more advanced map display and route guidance . Then, the navigation device, for example, in response to a user request, a first map data request signal for requesting only essential data or a second map data request signal for requesting both essential data and additional data. One of them is sent to the information center.
[0011]
The information center transfers only the essential data to the navigation device when the first map data request signal is sent from the navigation device, and the mandatory information when the second map data request signal is sent. Both the data and the additional data are transferred to the navigation device.
As a result, transfer of extra data can be omitted, and the transfer time can be shortened. In the present invention, at least the essential data is transferred regardless of whether the signal output from the navigation device is the first map data request signal or the second map data request signal, so the navigation device follows the new map data. Map image display and guidance route guidance can be used.
[0012]

The road type is data indicating a highway, a national road, a general road, and the like, and the type change code is data indicating a change in the road type (for example, a change from a national road to a general road). The traffic signal and the intersection are data indicating the positions of the traffic signal and the intersection. The time regulation and the season regulation are data indicating the time or the period when road traffic is regulated by time or season. VICS (VEHICLE INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) information and VICS link are data for displaying VICS information transmitted via FM multiplex broadcasting, optical beacons or radio beacons on a display screen.

[Table 2]
[0025]
The extended data shown in Table 2 is not essential data for the navigation device, but is additional data for drawing a more advanced map or performing more advanced route guidance. When the navigation apparatus draws the map by inputting the extension data, for example, the name and shape of the building, more detailed place names, the position and shape of the parking lot, the shape of the three-dimensional intersection, and the like can be displayed.
[0026]
In Table 2, the topography is data indicating the shape of a building, the area polygon is data indicating the shape of a lake, etc., and the lane information is data indicating information for each lane of two or more lanes (lanes). . POI (Position Of Interest) is data for each property, and includes, for example, store data on each floor of the building. Further, the extended data includes town page data, and it is possible to search for a destination or waypoint from a telephone number or an address.
[0027]
Further, the navigation apparatus can provide voice guidance by inputting ADPCM (Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation) data. Further, by inputting the intersection enlarged data, an enlarged view of the intersection is displayed when turning the intersection of the vehicle.
[0028]
[Table 3]
[0029]
The additional data shown in Table 3 is not essential data for the navigation device, but is additional data for using the navigation device more conveniently and happily. By inputting additional data, the navigation device displays, for example, a photograph or illustration of a tourist spot, a detailed city map, a three-dimensional map, or a width of 3.3 to 5.5 m. Narrow streets, pedestrian bridges, entrances to parking lots, etc. can be displayed on the map image.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the method of the present invention, the map data stored in the information center is classified into data essential for the navigation device and other additional data, and a map data request signal from the navigation device is obtained. Accordingly, since the data to be transferred is determined, it is not necessary to transfer unnecessary data, and the transfer time can be shortened. As a result, communication charges can be kept low and congestion of communication traffic can be prevented. In this case, since at least essential data is always transferred to the navigation device, the navigation device can display a map image or guide route guidance according to the new map data.
[0041]
Further, a signal indicating the current position is transmitted to the information center together with the map data request signal, and the information center transfers only the map data within a certain range from the current position and corresponding to the map data request signal. As a result, the data transfer time can be further reduced.
