BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to an image processing apparatus that processes an image such as a copying machine, a facsimile machine, or a printer, and more particularly to an image processing apparatus that corrects a cut sheet when it is inclined obliquely during conveyance. .
[0002]
[Prior art]
In an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine, a facsimile machine, or a printer, a cut paper or a roll paper cut by a cutter is conveyed into the apparatus, and an image is copied or recorded (hereinafter simply referred to as recording). ). In such an apparatus, since it is necessary to record an image at a fixed position of the sheet by the recording unit, it is necessary to correct this when the sheet is obliquely fed (skew) during the conveyance. Also, in a certain type of image reading apparatus, a sheet (original) is sent to an image reading position for reading. Therefore, even in such a reading apparatus, it is necessary to correct the skew at the time of paper conveyance. In this specification, these image processing apparatuses are collectively referred to as an image processing apparatus.

Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 8-91637 proposes a technique for opening and closing the upper chute by electrical control. In this technology, a sensor for detecting the loop accommodation state is prepared. When the paper loop is small, the upper chute is controlled to close, and when the loop becomes large and the loop accommodation chamber becomes narrow. Accordingly, the upper chute is controlled to open upward. In the proposed technique, the volume of the loop storage chamber can be changed while applying some pressure to the paper on which the loop is formed. Therefore, the travel of the paper is restricted when a relatively small loop is formed, and the problem that the travel becomes unstable can be solved.
[0008]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, according to the latter proposed image processing apparatus, since the opening / closing of the upper chute or the baffle is controlled by the sensor, there is a problem that the control mechanism becomes complicated. Also, if a sensor malfunctions for some reason, or if external light enters the image processing device and a malfunction occurs, a malfunction will occur and the skew will not be corrected. When the control operation is performed, there is a problem that a jam (paper jam) may occur.
[0009]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide an image processing apparatus capable of effectively correcting paper skew without using circuit components or complicated mechanisms.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In the first aspect of the present invention, (a) the paper is disposed in a direction orthogonal to the normal conveyance direction of the paper, and the progress of the paper is stopped until at least a predetermined time elapses after the leading edge of the paper arrives. Gate means for allowing the paper to advance when the predetermined time has elapsed, and (b) a conveying means disposed downstream of the gate means by a predetermined distance to convey the paper in the direction of the gate means, (C) a first sheet guide having a fixed surface parallel to one surface of the sheet conveyed on the sheet conveyance path between the conveyance unit and the gate unit; and (d) the first sheet guide and the sheet conveyance. The paper is disposed oppositely across the path, and has a loop accommodating portion that accommodates the paper so as to cover the paper when it starts to form a loop, and constantly exerts a constant force in a direction approaching the first paper guide, sheet form present in the conveying path That the size of the loop is provided with a second paper guide to widen the distance between the first paper guide according to increase in the image processing apparatus.
[0011]
That is, the invention described in claim 1 relates to an image processing apparatus having a gate means such as a registration roll or a registration gate for registration of paper and a transport means for feeding paper to the gate means. One of the two guides located in the position is fixed in position, and the other has a loop accommodating portion that accommodates the paper so as to cover it when the paper starts to form a loop , and the interval is expanded or contracted according to the force exerted by the paper. It is what you do. The latter guide (second paper guide) constantly exerts a constant force in a direction approaching the former guide (first paper guide), and the size of the loop formed by the paper present in the paper transport path is small. to widen the distance between the first paper guide according to increase. For such a force, gravity can be used, or an elastic member such as a spring can be used. The skew can be effectively corrected by the force of the second paper guide.
[0012]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the image processing apparatus according to the first aspect, the second paper guide is disposed above the first paper guide and exerts the above-described constant force by gravity. When the second paper guide uses gravity, the second paper guide is disposed above the first paper guide. Of course, even when an elastic member is used, it can be arranged on the upper side.
[0013]
According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the image processing apparatus according to the first aspect, at least a part of the predetermined force of the second paper guide is a force based on an elastic member. By using, for example, a part of an elastic member such as a spring, it is possible to freely design a position that maintains a balance with the force exerted by the paper.
[0014]
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the image processing apparatus according to the second aspect, one end of the second paper guide is rotatably supported and the other end is vertically movable. That is, the invention described in claim 4 is effective for an apparatus that forms a loop to correct the skew of the paper.

However, in the apparatus of this embodiment, the
[0027]
In the embodiment described above, the capacity of the space for accommodating the paper loop is automatically changed by the action of gravity using a baffle having one end as a rotation center and the other end as a long hole. This is not a limitation. For example, it is of course possible for the present invention to perform the same operation by making both ends of the baffle or upper chute relatively long holes or long holes with respect to the support shaft. Also, if the weight of these baffles or upper chutes is not appropriate for the paper loop, some weight can be used, and a proper balance can be achieved using a compression spring or tension spring. It is a matter of course as the present invention. Further, in the embodiment, the undershoot is fixed in position, but conversely, the undershoot may be movable downward according to the pressure of the paper.
[0028]
In the embodiment, the image processing apparatus using the registration roll has been described. Instead, the present invention is similarly applied to an image processing apparatus having a registration gate that opens at a predetermined timing. Can be applied to. Here, the gate means a plate-like member arranged in a direction perpendicular to the normal conveyance direction of the paper, and the skew is prevented by applying the leading edge of the paper so as to be parallel to the gate. Will be planned.
[0029]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the first aspect of the present invention, the second paper guide has the loop housing portion that houses the paper so as to cover the paper when it starts to form a loop, and the first paper guide permanently exerts a constant force in the direction approaching the. Thus increase the distance between the first paper guide according to the size of the loop sheet form present in the paper transportation path is increased, for example, By using a simple phenomenon or mechanism such as gravity or a spring, the skew can be effectively corrected, which contributes to downsizing and cost reduction of the image processing apparatus.
[0030]
According to the second aspect of the invention, since the second paper guide is disposed above the apparatus, there is an advantage that its assembly and adjustment are easy.
[0031]
Furthermore, according to the invention described in claim 3, since at least a part of the force exerted by the second paper guide is a force based on the elastic member, it is light when the original gravity is utilized. Even if it is too heavy or too heavy, for example, by partially using an elastic member such as a spring, it is possible to freely design a position that maintains a balance with the force exerted by the paper.
[0032]
According to the fourth aspect of the present invention, since the second paper guide is supported at one end so as to be rotatable and the other end is movable up and down , the second paper guide is kept until the loop becomes large to some extent. Can be stopped, and wear of the movable part can be reduced.
