[Industrial application fields]
The present invention relates to a light source device suitable for use in a liquid crystal projector or the like, and more particularly to a light source device that can obtain a plurality of emitted lights having the same luminance and chromaticity.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, a light source device of a liquid crystal projector having a plurality of light sources is configured such that outgoing light axes of the light sources are set parallel to each other, and the outgoing lights of the respective light sources enter the liquid crystal panel without being combined with each other. Has been.
[0003]
For this reason, there is a problem that luminance unevenness, chromaticity unevenness, and the like occur in an image due to variations in luminance, chromaticity, and the like of each light source.
[0004]
As a method for solving the above problem, in Japanese Patent Application No. 5-19618, for example, when there are two light sources, as shown in FIG. 7, the light emitted from the first light source 1 and the second light source 2 is half-lighted. Two combined lights are combined by the

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The present invention has been made in view of the drawbacks of the above-described conventional example, and provides a light source device that eliminates uneven brightness of emitted light due to a difference in optical path length from each light source even when a plurality of light sources are used. It is intended to do.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The light source device of the present invention is a light source device that outputs a plurality of outgoing lights, the first light source, the second light source in which the direction of the outgoing light intersects the first light source, and the first, Combined light by a half mirror that receives and synthesizes light emitted from the second light source, light emitted from the first light source that has passed through the half mirror, and light emitted from the second light source that reflects the half mirror The second reflection that reflects the first reflected mirror that reflects light, the outgoing light from the second light source that has passed through the half mirror, and the combined light that is the outgoing light from the first light source that has reflected the half mirror and a mirror, the optical path length from said first light source to the first reflecting mirror, the optical path length from said second light source to the second reflecting mirror is consistent, from the light source device A plurality of output light beams are output from the first reflecting mirror. It consists of reflected light and reflected light from the second reflecting mirror, and the traveling directions of the plurality of outgoing lights coincide with each other, and their optical axes are the optical axes of outgoing lights from the first light source. It is characterized by being orthogonal to a plane including the optical axis of the emitted light from the second light source.
[0008]
Furthermore, the light source device of the present invention is characterized in that when the reflection efficiency of the half mirror is s and the transmission efficiency is t, the reflectance of the half mirror is t / (s + t).
[0010]
[Action]
According to the above configuration, since the optical path length from each light source to the total reflection mirror is equal, the amount of light diffusion in each optical path is equal.
[0011]
Furthermore, by setting the reflectance of the half mirror to the above value, the amount of light reflected by the half mirror and the amount of transmitted light can be made equal.

[0036]
In the first, second, and third embodiments described above, when the total number of light sources constituting the first and second light sources is X and the total number of final emitted lights is Y, the optical path length is l + (X + Y-4). ) M + n. That is, in the first embodiment, since X = 2 and Y = 2, the optical path length is l + n. In the second embodiment, since X = 2 and Y = 4, the optical path length is l + 2m + n. In the third embodiment, since X = 4 and Y = 4, the optical path length is l + 4m + n.
[0037]
In the first, second, and third embodiments described above, the reflectance and transmittance of the half mirror are set to ½, and the reflectance of the total reflection mirror is set to 1. When the light is transmitted through the mirror or when the light is reflected by the half mirror or the total reflection mirror, the light is attenuated. Therefore, if the reflectance and the transmittance are set to the above values, the light is incident on the half mirror. The ratio of the amount of reflected light to the amount of light and the ratio of the amount of transmitted light are not ½, and the ratio of the amount of reflected light to the amount of incident light at the total reflection mirror is not 1.
[0038]
In order to solve the above problem, first, as shown in FIG. 4, it is necessary to reflect light incident on the half mirror from two different directions with the same reflection efficiency s and further with the same transmission efficiency t. is there. Here, the reflection efficiency s is the ratio of the light that should be reflected without being attenuated, and the transmission efficiency t is the ratio of the light that should be transmitted without being attenuated.
[0039]
Here, when the half mirror is formed so that the reflectance becomes t / (s + t), the transmittance becomes s / (s + t) (because reflectance + transmittance = 1). The ratio of the reflected light quantity to the incident light quantity is st / (s + t) because it is the product of the reflection efficiency s and the reflectance. The ratio of the amount of transmitted light to the amount of incident light is st / (s + t) because it is the product of transmission efficiency t and transmittance. That is, when the half mirror is formed so that the reflectance is t / (s + t) and the transmittance is s / (s + t), the ratio between the reflected light amount and the transmitted light amount with respect to the incident light amount by the half mirror is st / (s + t). ) Are equal.
[0040]
In order to actually form the half mirror, as shown in FIG. 5, a
[0041]
In the above-described embodiment, if the reflection efficiency of the total reflection mirror is u, the ratio of the total light amount of all the outgoing rays to the total sum of the incident light amounts from all the light sources is 2 stu / ( s + t), and in the case of the embodiment of FIG. 2, 4 {st / (s + t)} 2 u.
[0042]
In the case of the embodiment of FIG. 3, since the number of times the light is reflected by the total reflection mirror differs depending on each optical path, even if the reflectance and transmittance of the half mirror are set as described above, The amount of light cannot be the same.

【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, even when the emitted light is formed by the combined light of the light from the plurality of light sources, the optical path length in each optical path from each light source is equal, so the amount of light diffusion in each optical path is equal, A light source device with less luminance unevenness can be provided.
[0045]
Furthermore, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a light source device that prevents uneven brightness due to the reflection efficiency and transmission efficiency of the half mirror.
