Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a vehicle travel control device that performs guidance or control of travel of a vehicle based on the position of a travel lane with respect to the host vehicle.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a technique is known in which a travel lane is photographed with a video camera or the like, and a white line of the travel lane is detected from the obtained image information. This technology is also used for vehicle driving control. For example, an automatic driving system that actively controls the vehicle to run along the driving lane or an alarm when the vehicle tries to deviate from the driving lane. A vehicle travel control device such as a lane departure prevention system has been proposed that guides the prevention of departure by giving a gentle torque in the departure avoidance direction to the steering wheel.
[0003]
In these vehicle travel control devices, the detected white line is regarded as a boundary line of the travel lane, and vehicle travel control is performed based on the position of the white line with respect to the host vehicle.
For example, in the technique disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 10-31799, a white line is detected by a video camera and a distance to the side wall of the vehicle is detected by a laser radar, and usually steering control is performed based on the position of the white line. However, a technique related to automatic travel control is disclosed in which steering control is performed based on the distance to the side wall when a white line cannot be detected.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, when traveling control is performed based on the white line position, there are the following problems.
For example, on a road where the white line and the roadside are close, such as a highway with two-way traffic, a roadside wall may be provided immediately after the white line is crossed. There is a risk of it. Therefore, in such a case, traveling control that also considers the road side wall is necessary. That is, it is desired to perform control according to road conditions in consideration of not only the white line information but also stationary objects existing on the roadside.
[0005]
On the other hand, in the technique disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 10-31799, traveling control is performed based on the distance to the road side wall as well as the white line position. However, in this technique as well, the control is basically based on the white line position. Thus, the distance to the road side wall is only a substitute means when a white line cannot be detected. Therefore, it cannot be a solution to the above-mentioned problem.
[0006]
The present invention was devised in view of such a problem, and is capable of performing driving guidance or control according to road conditions in consideration of not only white line information but also stationary object information existing on the roadside. An object is to provide a travel control device.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, in the vehicle travel control device of the present invention, the road ahead of the host vehicle is imaged by the imaging means, the white line recognition means is recognized by the white line recognition means based on the image information, and the front object detection means is used. An object existing in front of the host vehicle is detected, and a stationary object in front of the host vehicle is recognized by the stationary object recognition means based on the detection information.
[0008]
Then, the relative position of the road white line recognized by the white line recognition means by the road structure recognition means to the own vehicle and the relative position of the stationary object recognized by the stationary object recognition means to the own vehicle.WithRecognition is performed by the control reference line setting means based on the recognition result.A first boundary line, which is a control reference line, is set inward by a predetermined distance α of the road white line from the relative position of the road white line to the own vehicle, and the stationary object recognized by the road structure recognition means is determined from the relative position to the own vehicle. A second boundary line that is a control reference line inside a predetermined distance β of the stationary objectSetTheAnd set by the control reference line setting means by the control meansThe driving lane boundary is determined by sequentially connecting the first boundary line and the portion of the second boundary line that is closer to the inside of the lane. The traveling of the host vehicle is guided or controlled based on the relative position of the host vehicle to the host vehicle.
The predetermined distance α and the predetermined distance β are preferably larger as the vehicle speed is higher, and the predetermined distance β is preferably larger than the predetermined distance α.
[0009]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
FIGS. 1-7 shows the vehicle travel control apparatus as one Embodiment of this invention, and demonstrates the case where a vehicle travel control apparatus is comprised as a lane departure prevention system as an example here.

[0035]
For example, when the vehicle travel control apparatus is configured as a lane departure prevention system as described above, if a delineator row exists in the vicinity of the white line, the travel lane boundary is determined based on the position of the delineator row, and the white line Since it is located inside the lane as compared with the case where the vehicle is determined based on this, the operation start timing of the lane departure prevention system is earlier when the vehicle is about to depart. Accordingly, there is an advantage that the time until the vehicle reaches the road side wall or the like beyond the white line is increased, the margin time for the driver to correct the steering is increased, and the risk due to lane departure is reduced.
[0036]
This is particularly effective when the distance between the median strip and the white line is short on a two-way street. In such a case, the risk of lane departure is high, but the road condition is as in this vehicle travel control device. By defining the driving lane boundary according to the above, the risk due to lane departure can be reduced.
In addition, when the white line is interrupted in the middle, the travel control based only on the white line information may not function or may become unstable, but the white line information and the delineator row as in this vehicle travel control device. By controlling in combination with information, there is an advantage that effective traveling control is possible even in such a case.
[0037]
Furthermore, the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and it goes without saying that various modifications can be made without departing from the spirit of the present invention. For example, in the above-described embodiment, the vehicle travel control device of the present invention is configured as a lane departure prevention system. However, the present invention is applicable to any system that performs travel control based on a certain control reference line such as an automatic travel system. It is of course possible to apply In this case as well, similar to the above-described embodiment, it is possible to obtain an advantageous effect as compared with the conventional system in which the control reference line is determined based on only the white line information.
[0038]
In the above-described embodiment, the
In the above-described embodiment, the case where the delineator is provided along the travel lane has been described. However, when the guard rail is provided instead of the delineator, the travel lane boundary is determined by recognizing the guard rail. become. That is, the vehicle travel control device of the present invention recognizes a stationary object on the road side and determines a traveling lane boundary (control reference line) based on the position information and white line information of the stationary object. It doesn't matter what the is. Therefore, when the vehicle is stopped on the road side, the control reference line is determined based on the position of the vehicle, and collision with the stopped vehicle can be avoided. The term “stationary object” as used herein is a concept that includes not only an object that is completely stationary, but also an object that is moving at a low speed, such as a vehicle that is slowly traveling on a roadside belt.
[0039]
Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, two control lane boundaries are set as the control reference line, and the travel control is performed based on the positional relationship between the travel lane boundary and the host vehicle. It is also possible to set one control reference line based on the above and to perform the traveling control based on the positional relationship between the one control reference line and the host vehicle.
[0040]
【The invention's effect】
As described above in detail, according to the vehicle travel control device of the present invention, the travel control is not performed based on only the white line information as in the prior art, but based on the white line information and the stationary object information. The relative position of the road white line to the host vehicle and the relative position of the stationary object to the host vehicleSince the vehicle travels with the control reference line set based on the recognized road structure, there is an advantage that it is possible to guide or control the travel according to the road condition.
[0041]
Therefore, particularly when the distance between the median strip and the white line is short on a two-way street, the risk of the vehicle deviating from the original travel lane is high. Since travel guidance or control is performed based on the control reference line set based on the road structure, there is an advantage that the risk of deviation from the travel lane can be reduced.
