【0022】
図3においてi番目のトラック上のj番目の格子点を(i,j)とすると、この(i,j)の格子点の周りには(i−1,j−1)、(i−1,j)、(i−1,j+1)、(i,j−1)、(i,j+1)、(i+1,j−1)、(i+1,j)、(i+1,j+1)の8箇所の隣接格子点がある。 同様にして、格子点(i−1,j)上に孤立状態のマークがあればこのマークから信号b・S(i−1,j)が(i,j)に漏れ込む。格子点(i−1,j+1)上に孤立状態のマークがあればこのマークから信号c・S(i−1,j)が格子点(i,j)に漏れ込む。格子点(i,j−1)上に孤立状態のマークがあればこのマークから信号d・S(i,j−1)が格子点(i,j)に漏れ込む。格子点(i,j+1)上に孤立状態のマークがあればこのマークから信号e・S(i,j+1)が格子点(i,j)に漏れ込む。格子点(i+1,j−1)上に孤立状態のマークがあればこのマークから信号f・S(i+1,j−1)が格子点(i,j)に漏れ込む。格子点(i+1,j)上に孤立状態のマークがあればこのマークから信号g・S(i+1,j)が格子点(i,j)に漏れ込む。格子点(i+1,j+1)上に孤立状態のマークがあればこのマークから信号h・S(i+1,j+1)が格子点(i,j)に漏れ込む。
(1)式中のa・S(i−1,j−1)+b・S(i−1,j)+c・S(i−1,j+1)+f・S(i+1,j−1)+g・S(i+1,j)+h・S(i+1,j+1)が隣接格子点からのクロストークを表す。
【0024】
【0025】
もし、S(i−1,j−2)=S(i−1,j)=S(i−1,j+2)=S(i,j−1)=S(i,j+1)=S(i+1,j−2)=S(i+1,j)=S(i+1,j+2)=0が常に成り立つならば、(2)式と(3)式を用いて(1)式に含まれる隣接トラックからのクロストークを削除できる。
(1−1)式中のa・S(i−1,j−1)+c・S(i−1,j+1)+f・S(i+1,j−1)+h・S(i+1,j+1)が、マークが記録できる格子点が面心長方格子状に配置されている場合における隣接格子点からのクロストークを表す。
(2−2)式にdを掛け、また(3−2)式にeを掛ければ(1−1)式で問題となったクロストーク成分、a・S(i−1,j−1)、c・S(i−1,j+1)、f・S(i+1,j−1)、h・S(i+1,j+1)が判明する。
A1=−d/(1−2d・e)
A2=−e/(1−2d・e)である。
【0028】
C0=B・(1−square(d・e/(1−2d・e)))
C1=−B・square(d)/(1−2d・e)
C2=−B・square(e)/(1−2d・e)
C3=B・square(square(d)/(1−2d・e))
C4=B・square(square(e)/(1−2d・e))
である。
【0033】
【0034】
ここで、D1=B・cube(C1)、D2=B・cube(C2)である。
cube(C1)等は、C1の3乗を表す。
G1=−F・(square(d)/(1−2d・e))、
G2=−F・(square(e)/(1−2d・e))である。
【0037】
ここで、Y=1/(1−4C1・C2+2square(C1)・square(C2))、
Z0=Y・(1−2C1・C2)、
Z1=−Y・(C1・(1−C1・C2))、
Z2=−Y・(C2・(1−C1・C2))、
Z3=Y・square(C1)、
Z4=Y・square(C2)、
Z5=−Y・cube(C1)、
Z6=−Y・cube(C2)
である。
【0038】
S’(i,p+6)/S’(i,p+5)として求められる。 S’(i−1,p+3)/S’(i−1,p+2)として求められる。
【0043】
S’(i,p+4)/S’(i,p+5)として求められる。 S’(i−1,p+1)/S’(i−1,p+2)として求められる。

漏れ込み量検出回路241は、信号M’(i,p+2)と信号M’(i,s+3)の比
漏れ込み量検出回路242は、信号M’(i,p+1)と信号M’(i,p+2)の比M’((i,p+1)/M’(i,p+2))をそのセクタの漏れ込み量として得る。

【0102】
<参考例>

[Field of the Invention]
The present invention relates to an optical information recording / reproducing method for recording / reproducing information on / from an optical recording medium using a laser beam, an apparatus for implementing this method, and a medium used therefor.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In general, in order to improve the recording density of an optical information recording medium in which information marks are recorded on an information track using a laser beam and optical changes according to the presence or absence of the information marks are detected to reproduce information. It is necessary to narrow the information track interval (track pitch) and the information mark arrangement interval (mark pitch) in the light spot scanning direction. However, if the track pitch and the mark pitch are reduced, when the light spot irradiates one information mark, a part of the other information marks is also irradiated at the same time. This causes a problem that the signal leaks two-dimensionally. This leakage interferes as a noise component and lowers the reproduction accuracy. Therefore, the usable track pitch and mark pitch are limited by the diameter of the light spot.
[0003]
Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2-257474 discloses a technique for reducing the track pitch and the mark pitch by performing a two-dimensional equalization process and canceling the leakage component generated by the two-dimensional information leakage. It is disclosed. In this prior art, information is recorded on predetermined lattice points on a recording medium. A discrete block servo format (hereinafter abbreviated as DBF) is used for the tracking method of the light spot. Conventionally, DBF is characterized by the ease of tracking signal detection and the stability of clock detection of recorded / reproduced data. Since all timings can be detected using clock pits written on a disk, two-dimensional Marks can be accurately recorded on the lattice points. At the time of information reproduction, signal processing is performed based on the reproduction signals from the lattice points on the three adjacent tracks of track i-1, track i, and track i + 1, and from the track adjacent to the reproduction signal of target track i Information leakage (crosstalk) and leakage from the target track i (intersymbol interference) are reduced.
[0004]
In the signal processing in this prior art, first, the track i-1 and the track i are sequentially reproduced with one light beam, the reproduced signals are stored in the corresponding three memories, and then the track i + 1 is reproduced with the light beam. On the other hand, the intersymbol interference on the tracks i-1, i, i + 1 is reduced by the three transversal filters corresponding to the respective tracks, and then the reproduction signals of the tracks i-1, i, i + 1 are added by the adder. By adding, two-dimensional leakage from the reproduction signal of the track i is reduced.
[0005]
In the technique described in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 5-205280, a plurality of crosstalk detection areas are provided on a recording medium, and crosstalk detection pits are arranged on each track in the crosstalk detection area so as not to interfere with each other. Before reproducing information, the crosstalk detection pit on the track to be reproduced and the crosstalk detection pit on the adjacent track are reproduced simultaneously using three light spots, and the obtained reproduction signal is used. Learn the amount of crosstalk from adjacent tracks. When a mark to be reproduced is read, the track to be reproduced and a pair of tracks adjacent thereto are irradiated with the three light spots, and adjacent to the reproduction signal for the track to be reproduced. Crosstalk from a pair of tracks is removed using a reproduction signal for a pair of adjacent tracks and the learned crosstalk amount.
[0006]
Other techniques for achieving high recording density have been proposed in ANSI documents. In this case, the information recording position is changed every two tracks so that the information recording position on the track having the even track number is located exactly in the middle of the information recording position on the track having the odd track number. .
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The conventional technique for reducing crosstalk from adjacent tracks by signal processing has a problem that the apparatus becomes complicated. For example, in the prior art described in the above-mentioned Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2-257474, since a one-beam optical system is used, the optical system is simple, but three tracks are reproduced to eliminate crosstalk. A memory for holding the signal strength and three transversal filters are required, which increases the cost of the apparatus. Also, according to the prior art described in the above Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 5-205280, it is necessary to use three light spots in order to reduce crosstalk from adjacent tracks, and the optical system is very It becomes complicated. Further, since there is no clock synchronized with the crosstalk detection pit, it is not possible to grasp the reproduction signal detection points before and after the crosstalk detection pit, and therefore it is possible to detect the amount of intersymbol interference on the target track. Can not.
[0008]
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to perform optical information that can reduce a crosstalk component from an adjacent track by scanning a track using a one-beam optical system at the time of reproduction, and performing signal processing that can execute this reproduction signal with a simple device. A reproduction method, an apparatus therefor, and a recording medium are provided.
[0009]
A more specific object of the present invention is to provide an optical information reproducing method capable of further reducing the intersymbol interference component from the reproduction signal in which the crosstalk component is reduced, an apparatus therefor, and a recording medium.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above-mentioned object of reducing crosstalk from adjacent tracks by signal processing in which a reproduction signal can be executed by a simple circuit, a plurality of tracks on the optical recording medium used in the present invention are The position of the information recording lattice point is determined for each track so that the position in the track direction of the information recording lattice point on the odd-numbered track coincides with the intermediate position of the information recording lattice point on the even-numbered track. It is done.
[0011]
When reading information, scanning is performed with one light spot of any one of the tracks. From a reproduced signal generated corresponding to one of a plurality of scanned information recording lattice points, crosstalk from a pair of adjacent tracks to the information recording lattice point on the one track. The component is removed based on a pair of signals generated corresponding to a pair of intermediate points located immediately before and after the information recording lattice point on the one track, and reproduction obtained as a result of the removal. Information recorded at the information recording grid point is detected from the signal.
[0012]
More preferably, the intersymbol interference component included in the signal after this removal is converted into reproduction signals for a plurality of neighboring information recording lattice points on the one track located before and after the information recording lattice point. Use to remove.
[0013]
Furthermore, in a more desirable embodiment of the present invention, the above invention is applied to the case of reproducing an information mark representing a multilevel level.

As shown in FIG. 2, the fact that the lattice points for information recording are shifted for each track is known per se for high-density recording, but in this embodiment, this arrangement is reproduced by one light beam. Used to effectively remove crosstalk from the received signal.

(2) Principle of equalization processing in this embodiment
Prior to the detailed description of this embodiment, the principle of equalization processing in this embodiment will be described.
[0022]
In FIG. 3, if the j-th lattice point on the i-th track is (i, j), (i-1, j-1), (i-1) , J), (i-1, j + 1), (i, j-1), (i, j + 1), (i + 1, j-1), (i + 1, j), (i + 1, j + 1) There are grid points. When the
[0023]
Here, S (i, j) is a reproduction signal level when an information mark exists alone at a lattice point (i, j) and no adjacent information mark exists (hereinafter referred to as an isolated signal). For simplicity, S (i, j) is, for example, 1 when an information mark is present at a lattice point (i, j), and S is present when an information mark is not present at the lattice point (i, j). Assume that (i, j) is 0, for example. (1) a · S (i−1, j−1) + b · S (i−1, j) + c · S (i−1, j + 1) + f · S (i + 1, j−1) + g · S (i + 1, j) + h · S (i + 1, j + 1) represents crosstalk from adjacent lattice points.
[0024]
On the other hand, the reproduction signal S ′ (i, j−1) that has received interference from the adjacent information mark obtained at the lattice point position (i, j−1) and the lattice point position (i, j + 1) are obtained. Considering the reproduction signal S ′ (i, j + 1) that has received interference from the adjacent information mark, it can be expressed as follows.
[0025]
If S (i−1, j−2) = S (i−1, j) = S (i−1, j + 2) = S (i, j−1) = S (i, j + 1) = S (i + 1) , J−2) = S (i + 1, j) = S (i + 1, j + 2) = 0 is always satisfied, it is determined from the adjacent tracks included in the expression (1) using the expressions (2) and (3). Crosstalk can be deleted. That is, if the lattice points where the mark can be recorded are arranged in a face-centered rectangular lattice as shown in FIG. 2, this condition is satisfied, so that the crosstalk from the adjacent track can be obtained without using the reproduction signal of the adjacent track. Can be reduced. This will be described in detail below.
[0026]
If the lattice points where the mark can be recorded are arranged in a face-centered rectangular lattice, the equations (1) to (3) are expressed as equations (1-1) to (3-1), respectively. The
In the formula (1-1), a · S (i−1, j−1) + c · S (i−1, j + 1) + f · S (i + 1, j−1) + h · S (i + 1, j + 1) This represents crosstalk from adjacent lattice points when the lattice points where marks can be recorded are arranged in a face-centered rectangular lattice. In addition, since the information leakage amounts a, b, c, and h have a relationship of a = b · d, c = b · e, f = g · d, and h = g · e, Equations (2-1) and (3-1) are expressed as equations (2-2) and (3-2), respectively.
If the equation (2-2) is multiplied by d and the equation (3-2) is multiplied by e, the crosstalk component which has become a problem in the equation (1-1), a · S (i−1, j−1) , C · S (i−1, j + 1), f · S (i + 1, j−1), and h · S (i + 1, j + 1). Therefore, as shown below, the calculation of (1-1) -d · (2-2))-e · (3-2)) can reduce crosstalk from adjacent tracks. it can.
[0027]
Here, A0 = 1 / (1-2d · e)
A1 = −d / (1-2d · e)
A2 = −e / (1-2d · e).
[0028]
The calculation result of equation (4) can be expressed as follows.
[0029]
Here, square (d) etc. represents the square of d.
[0030]
As shown in the equation (5), this equation is an equation involving only the target track i. Therefore, by calculating the equation (4), crosstalk from the adjacent tracks i−1 and i + 1 is obtained. It can be seen that it can be deleted completely. However, intersymbol interference from the lattice point (i, j-2) and the lattice point (i, j + 2) becomes a problem with respect to the target lattice point (i, j). For example, when the grating interval T and the track pitch Tp are about 50% of the spot diameter, b = d = e = g = 0.2, a = c = f = h = 0.04, and intersymbol interference Is about 0.09 at the maximum.
[0031]
Therefore, in order to reduce intersymbol interference, for example, when a 5-tap transversal filter is used, the following calculation is performed.
[0032]
Here, B = 1 / (1-3 square (d · e / (1-2d · e)))
C0 = B · (1-square (d · e / (1-2d · e)))
C1 = −B · square (d) / (1-2d · e)
C2 = −B · square (e) / (1-2d · e)
C3 = B · square (square (d) / (1-2d · e))
C4 = B · square (square (e) / (1-2d · e))
It is.
[0033]
The result of this calculation can be expressed as follows.
[0034]
Here, D1 = B · cube (C1) and D2 = B · cube (C2).
cube (C1) and the like represent the cube of C1. For example, when the grating interval T and the track pitch Tp are about 50% of the spot diameter, b = d = e = g = 0.2, a = c = f = h = 0.04, and intersymbol interference Is about 0.0002 at the maximum.
[0035]
When transversal filters having different tap numbers are used, the same calculation may be performed according to the tap number. For example, the expression corresponding to the expression (6) is as shown in the expression (6a) for a 3-tap transversal filter, and as the expression (6b) for a 7-tap transversal filter.
[0036]
Here, F = 1 / (1-2 square (d · e / (1-2d · e))),
G1 = −F · (square (d) / (1-2d · e)),
G2 = −F · (square (e) / (1-2d · e)).
[0037]
Here, Y = 1 / (1-4C1 · C2 + 2square (C1) · square (C2)),
Z0 = Y · (1-2C1 · C2),
Z1 = −Y · (C1 · (1−C1 · C2)),
Z2 = −Y · (C2 · (1−C1 · C2)),
Z3 = Y · square (C1),
Z4 = Y · square (C2),
Z5 = −Y · cube (C1),
Z6 = −Y · cube (C2)
It is.
[0038]
The amount of leakage a to h shown in FIG. 3 varies depending on the spot shape, recording power, recording clock timing, focus, and tracking variations during recording, and the light spot shape and tracking during reproduction. , Changes due to fluctuations in focus and sampling clock timing. Therefore, in the present embodiment, the leakage amount is measured in a state where the optical information recording medium is mounted on the actual optical information recording / reproducing apparatus. However, when the variation is small or negligible, for example, an equalization coefficient obtained by experimental measurement in advance at the time of shipment of the optical information recording apparatus may be used.
[0039]
In order to perform measurement in a state where the optical information recording medium is mounted on an actual optical information recording / reproducing apparatus, a predetermined mark group, that is, a mark row pattern, is recorded in advance at a predetermined position on the optical recording medium. Before reproducing information, this mark row pattern is reproduced with a light spot, and the amount of leakage is learned based on the reproduced signal. As described above, since a = b · d, c = b · e, f = g · d, and h = g · e are substantially satisfied, two-dimensional calculation is performed by calculating the equations (4) and (6). As can be seen from the equations (4) and (6), the equalization coefficient to be applied to each reproduction signal is a function of only d and e. Therefore, it is sufficient to learn d and e as the leakage amount, and the equalization coefficient may be calculated based on this learning value. It should be noted that the equalization coefficient in the equations (6a) and (6b) is also a function of the leakage amounts d and e, and can be performed in the same manner.
[0040]
Hereinafter, a method for learning the leakage amounts d and e will be described.
[0041]
First, a method of recording a learning mark will be described using an example of the equalization coefficient learning region shown in FIG. The learning marks for learning the equalization coefficient are arranged at a distance that does not interfere with each other in the light spot scanning direction. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 2, the learning
[0042]
Next, a method for learning the leakage amounts d and e will be described with reference to FIG. Since the equalization

On the other hand, since the equalization
[0044]
Then, by performing two-dimensional equalization signal processing on the reproduction signal using the obtained equalization coefficient, signal leakage from the adjacent mark is canceled and information based on the presence or absence of the mark is detected. In the optical information recording / reproducing method according to the present invention, the position of the lattice point for recording the information mark is changed for each track so as to be deviated from each other by a half cycle between adjacent tracks, and between adjacent tracks causing a problem during reproduction The amount of crosstalk can be reduced, and crosstalk from adjacent tracks can be completely eliminated by the above two-dimensional equalization signal processing, and intersymbol interference can also be reduced.
[0045]

In the present embodiment, the
[0046]
(4) Track pitch Tp, spot size Ws, mark pitch Mp
In this embodiment, when the i-th track is reproduced in FIG. 2, the crosstalk from the (i-1) th track and the (i + 1) th track immediately adjacent to the track can be removed by a method described in detail later. For the method to be effective, it is necessary that there is substantially no crosstalk from tracks farther away. For this reason, in this embodiment, the track pitch Tp is set such that the

[0048]
When the

Next, the mark pitch will be described. The mark pitch is an interval between lattice points at which adjacent information marks on the same track can be recorded. In the present embodiment, in order to remove crosstalk from adjacent tracks, as described in the principle of equalization processing in this embodiment, as shown in FIG. An information mark can be recorded at every other lattice point. In an even-numbered track and an odd-numbered track, the lattice point at which the information mark can be recorded is shifted by one lattice point distance along the track direction. Therefore, the mark pitch Mp is twice the distance between the lattice points.
[0050]
As described above, when the track pitch Tp is set to (Ws + Wm) / 4 or more and the 5-tap transversal filter described later is used in the two-

FIG. 4 shows a case where the mark pitch Mp is changed when the light source wavelength λ = 780 nm, the numerical aperture NA = 0.55, the mark diameter W = 0.5 μm, and the track pitch Tp = 0.5 μm ( 8) The value of the equation is simulated and graphed. This simulation is described in
[0052]
(5) Tracking
In this embodiment, when the i-th track is reproduced, the i-th track is reproduced in order to eliminate crosstalk from the i-1th track and the i + 1th track immediately adjacent to the i-th track. It is not necessary to use a laser beam other than the laser beam used in the above. Therefore, as a result, the structure of the optical head 102 is simplified. In order to take advantage of this advantage, it is desirable not to use another laser beam for tracking. For this reason, in the present embodiment, the technology described in Japanese Patent Application No. 5-255354 (which was later published as Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 7-110958) or US application No. 08/321619 corresponding thereto. Is adopted. Here, the techniques described therein are incorporated by reference. In the following, this technique will be described very simply.

According to the prior art disclosed in the above-mentioned Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2-257474, there are also the following problems.
[0080]
(1) Although only one light spot is required, it is necessary to temporarily store information of at least two tracks in a memory. Therefore, in order to reduce crosstalk and intersymbol interference from adjacent tracks, at least a disk is required. The reproduction signal cannot be obtained until after two rotations.
[0081]
(2) As an adaptive algorithm that adaptively obtains the equalization coefficient when a fluctuation factor occurs, a generally used least square error method is applied, so that the optimum equalization coefficient is found. It takes several hundred milliseconds, and high-speed random access cannot be realized. In addition, when there is an asymmetrical aberration (coma aberration) of the lens system or a warp of the disk, the influence cannot be eliminated.
[0082]
Further, the prior art disclosed in the above-mentioned Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 5-205280 has the following problems.
[0083]
(3) Although the amount of crosstalk from adjacent tracks can be detected using the learning mark, intersymbol interference on the target track cannot be detected.

However, the method of the present embodiment does not have such a problem.

(3) In the first and second embodiments, the magneto-optical disk is used as the optical recording medium. However, the optical information reproducing method according to the present invention may be any recording medium. For example, a write-once medium, a phase change medium, or a ROM medium may be used. In these media, the reproduction signal of the information mark is given by the total light quantity signal. Therefore, in the optical information recording / reproducing apparatus described in the first or second embodiment, the magneto-optical signal may be replaced with the total light quantity signal. The mark diameter of the ROM medium is slightly different from the values described in the first and second embodiments, and is determined as follows. FIG. 12 shows the result of simulating the relationship of the normalized modulation degree 0-p with respect to the mark diameter W of the ROM medium. From this graph, it can be seen that the maximum modulation degree can be obtained when the mark diameter W is 55% of the light spot diameter Ws (≈λ / NA). However, when a ROM medium is reproduced by the optical information recording / reproducing method according to the present invention, a modulation degree of about 40% is used out of a modulation degree of 0 to 100% due to crosstalk from adjacent tracks. The degree of modulation of the signal should be about 60%. Further, in order to ensure the S / N of the isolated signal, the modulation degree needs to be about 40% or more. From this, the modulation degree of the isolated signal needs to be 40% to 60%, and the mark diameter W is 25% to 40% with respect to the light spot diameter Ws.
[0097]
(4) In the first and second embodiments, the intermediate point used for detecting the leakage amount and removing the crosstalk is located exactly at the center of the two information recording lattice points on the same track. This is desirable from the viewpoint of effective removal of crosstalk, but an intermediate point slightly deviated from the center can be used as required. This also applies to embodiments described later.
[0098]
<Third Embodiment of the Invention>
In the first and second embodiments, the light modulation method of recording information on the optical recording medium by modulating the intensity of the laser beam is employed. However, in this embodiment, information recording by the magnetic field modulation method is used.
[0099]
In the magnetic field modulation method, the information mark is recorded on the optical recording medium by modulating the magnetic field rather than modulating the intensity of the light beam. For this reason, in the present embodiment, a magnetic field driving circuit and a magnetic field generating coil are added to the optical disk apparatus of the first embodiment. FIG. 18 shows information recorded on the optical recording medium by the magnetic field modulation method in the apparatus of the first embodiment. The information mark recorded by the light modulation method has a substantially circular shape as shown in FIG. 2, but the information mark recorded by using the magnetic field modulation method has an arrow feather shape.
[0100]
The present embodiment can be similarly applied to the case where the equalization coefficient learning track is provided and the equalization coefficient is obtained in advance before recording / reproduction as described in the second embodiment. .
[0101]
Instead of the magnetic field modulation method of the present embodiment, information recording by the optical magnetic field modulation method can also be used. In the optical magnetic field modulation method, the information mark is recorded on the optical recording medium by modulating the intensity of the light beam and modulating the magnetic field in synchronization.
[0102]
<Reference example>
In the embodiments so far, information is represented by whether or not information marks are recorded at information recording lattice points. In
[0103]
Conventionally, in order to increase the density of an optical disc, a method of slightly changing information marks to be recorded depending on multi-value information has been proposed. For example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 6-76303 proposes a method of independently changing the front and rear edges of a long mark according to multi-value information to be recorded. This method is applied to a read-only optical disc that creates information marks as concave and convex relief patterns. Also, the track pitch is set to be about the size of the light spot diameter as in the conventional optical disc, thereby reducing the crosstalk from adjacent tracks.
[0104]
Such a conventional technique has a problem that it is necessary to record information marks that change slightly according to multi-value information, and it is difficult to record or reproduce such information marks that change slightly.
[0105]
That is, as described in the above-mentioned prior art, in the conventional method, the optical disk has information on the mark shape and its position. For example, taking an oval shape as an example, the parameters for determining this shape include the curvature of the leading edge, the width, the curvature and width of the trailing edge, the position of the leading edge and the trailing edge, and the leading edge to the trailing edge. There is a distance and the like, and information to be put in proportion to the number of parameters to be determined increases, but conversely, control becomes difficult. In particular, since the concave / convex relief pattern undergoes a plurality of processes including master stamping, stamper and injection, the above-mentioned parameters slightly change during the process, and it is difficult to accurately control the shape and position. For detecting minute fluctuations in the edge position, a mark having the shape parameter is scanned by a light spot having a two-dimensional distribution, and a waveform converted into a one-dimensional electric signal is processed. For this reason, even if the parameters other than the edge position fluctuations are changed, they are erroneously regarded as position fluctuations. Therefore, it is difficult to stably detect information by the conventional method of moving the edge of the long mark slightly. Furthermore, in an optical disc apparatus that records and reproduces information, fluctuations inherent to the apparatus (power fluctuation, focus deviation, track deviation, uneven recording sensitivity of the medium, etc.) occur in the recording process, and the recording conditions change, so the recording mark shape further increases. Fluctuates under the influence. For this reason, the method of slightly moving the edge of the long mark cannot be applied to an optical disc apparatus that records and reproduces information.
[0106]
In this reference example, a circular information mark capable of minimizing the shape parameter is recorded as the information mark of the optical disc. As a result, the information mark shape to be recorded is one type. The center position of the mark is changed slightly depending on the information to be recorded.
[0107]
When the information mark recorded in this way is reproduced, the positional deviation between the peak position of the reproduction signal and the information recording lattice point is detected, and the detected positional deviation is decoded, and the information mark Play back the information recorded in.
[0108]
(1) Information mark recording
A specific mark arrangement is shown in FIG. In this reference example, as in the first embodiment, the information recording lattice points form a face-centered rectangular lattice. The relationship between the value of information to be recorded and the recording position of the information mark is defined as shown in FIG. FIG. 15A illustrates a plurality of information marks recorded in one sector of the i-th track. Although a plurality of information marks are superimposed on the same lattice point in the figure, only one information mark is actually recorded at one lattice point. In the figure, the wobble mark shown in FIG. 2 which is worthy of the head of each sector is not shown for simplicity. Further, in this reference example, the learning mark shown in FIG. 2 is not used. As an optical recording medium, a magneto-optical medium is used as in the first embodiment, and an information mark is recorded by irradiating a laser beam with a certain intensity. Therefore, the information mark to be recorded has a circular shape. Since this circle has only the radius to determine the shape, it is easy to make the shape constant, and the center position is easy to control. 654, 655, 657, and 658 are recorded at positions shifted by −2Δ, −Δ, + Δ, and + 2Δ, respectively, with respect to the p + 5th lattice point (which is assumed to be an information recording lattice point) on the ith track. Mark.

Specifically, the recording circuit shown in FIG. 16 is used in this reference example. The

[0112]
Also in this reference example in which information is recorded at the recording position of the information mark, the reproduction output varies depending on various variation factors. In the above method for obtaining the zero cross point, it is necessary to accurately grasp the timing at which the light spot passes through the information recording lattice point, but this slightly changes depending on the shape of the spot, deformation of the substrate, and the like. Therefore, after the
[0113]
The
[0114]
In FIG. 14, four positional shift amounts are associated with 2-bit information, but this correspondence can be variously modified. Review specific figures. The relationship between the mark pitch Mp and the remaining equalization has already been shown in FIG. If the adjacent marks cause maximum positional deviation from each other and the interval between the information marks when they are closest to each other is set to be about 60% or more of the spot diameter Ws, the effect of crosstalk from the adjacent tracks is substantially reduced in this reference example. Can be reduced to the extent that there is no problem. That is, the mark pitch Mp ′ in the present reference example may be obtained using FIG. 4 and satisfy the following condition using the mark pitch Mp.
[0115]
Mp ′> Mp + 2nΔ
For example, from the wavelength of FIG. 4 and the numerical aperture of the objective lens, the spot diameter is about 1.4 μm and the mark pitch Mp is 0.88 μm. Therefore, when Δ is 0.1 μm, Mp ′ is set to 1.08 μm or more. An equalization residual of −20 dB or less can be obtained, and high-density recording / reproduction can be realized. When n positional deviations satisfying this condition are used, information of log (2n) bits per grid point can be given by using log. Here, log is a logarithm with a base of 2. However, as can be seen from the circuit of FIG. 17, in this reference example, the learning mark, equalization coefficient learning circuit, and two-dimensional equalization circuit used in the first embodiment are not used. The track interval and mark pitch are increased to such an extent that detection error of the peak position of the information mark reproduction signal due to crosstalk from adjacent tracks can be ignored.
[0116]
<Modification of reference example>
(1) As another method for detecting the recording position of an information mark, the difference or differential value of the reproduction signal is sampled and held at the timing of passing through the information recording lattice point, and the corresponding information mark is represented by its absolute value and sign. There is also a method for detecting the deviation of the center position from the information recording grid point.
[0117]
(2) The
[0118]
<
In this embodiment, in order to further improve the density, the multi-value phase recording used in the reference example in which the recording position of the information mark having a fixed shape is shifted from the information recording lattice point according to the information to be recorded is performed. The optical property of the information mark to be recorded is changed in accordance with the information to be recorded, and a multilevel signal is recorded so that the reproduction signal has a multilevel level. This makes it possible to record more information on each information recording lattice point. When the information mark recorded in this way is reproduced, the crosstalk component from the adjacent track is removed from the reproduced signal of the information mark, and the remaining intersymbol interference component is removed, and then the reproduced signal is reproduced. The level and the peak position of the reproduction signal are detected, the detected information is decoded, and the information recorded in the information mark is reproduced.
[0119]
Further, in this embodiment, a medium having a simple structure is used as a medium capable of recording a multilevel level. Conventionally, attempts have been proposed to improve recording density by recording information marks representing multilevel signals. As media capable of recording multilevel signals, media disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 64-32442 or Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 3-5932 are known. In this medium, as many recording layers as the number corresponding to each multi-level are provided independently, and the multi-level is obtained by controlling the recording state of each layer. Specifically, the magneto-optical recording films are laminated in multiple layers, each layer is magnetically independent from each other, and the multi-level is the sum of signal levels determined by each layer. Therefore, for example, in order to express four values, four recording films are laminated.
[0120]
In this embodiment, in order to record multi-value information using a recording medium having a smaller number of recording layers, a multi-layer recording film that is magnetically coupled is used, and the multi-value information to be recorded is used. The magnetic field applied from the outside, the irradiation light power, and the irradiation timing are changed. This realizes a magnetic coupling relationship and a recording position according to the multi-value information to be recorded. For this reason, magnetic field modulation recording is used instead of the light modulation recording described so far as the recording method.
[0121]
As a result of using this recording method, the recorded information mark has an arrow feather shape as shown in FIG. In the present embodiment, the multilevel levels of information marks to be recorded are four, and each level is set to “0”, “1”, “2”, “3” in order from the smallest reproduction signal level. To do. Information marks 854, 855, 856, 857, and 858 are five information marks each having a level “3” and can be recorded with different positional deviations with respect to the same lattice point. Each of the

[0126]
In order to write multi-value information on such a magneto-optical recording medium, an optical head (not shown) and a magnetic head (not shown) are driven relative to the magneto-optical recording medium, While irradiating a laser beam along the recording track of the magneto-optical recording medium from this optical head, an external magnetic field whose magnetic field intensity is modulated in multiple stages according to the information to be recorded is applied to the portion irradiated with the laser beam. Applied from a magnetic head. As a result, it is possible to record information marks having a multi-value level of four or more on the first and second recording layers 14 and 18. In this case, the laser beam can be irradiated continuously with a constant intensity laser beam, or can be irradiated periodically or in a pulse form.
[0127]
Further, the optical head and the magnetic head are driven relative to the magneto-optical recording medium, and an external magnetic field is applied from the magnetic head to the magneto-optical recording medium along the recording track of the magneto-optical recording medium. By irradiating the optical head with a laser beam whose signal intensity is modulated in multiple stages according to a recording signal, multilevel recording of four or more values can be performed on two recording layers.

Hereinafter, the principle of multi-value recording on such a recording medium will be described in detail. In the

(2) Multi-value information recording
Next, a signal multi-value recording method using the magneto-optical recording medium in the present embodiment will be described. In this embodiment, in order to record a multilevel signal using the above-described magneto-optical recording medium, the external magnetic field is modulated in four stages according to the information to be recorded, thereby recording the multilevel signal. At the same time, multi-level phase recording is executed in the same manner as in the reference example by changing the laser beam irradiation timing according to the information to be recorded.
[0138]
First, a magneto-optical recording medium is mounted on a medium driving unit such as a turntable, an optical head is disposed on the transparent substrate side, and a magnetic head is disposed on the protective film side (not shown). The medium drive unit is activated to relatively drive the magneto-optical recording medium, the optical head, and the magnetic head at a predetermined linear velocity, and position the optical head and the magnetic head on a predetermined track.

As described above, in the present embodiment, information marks representing multilevel levels can be recorded at different information recording grid points with different positional shifts, so that the amount of information that can be recorded at one information recording grid point increases. .
[0157]
<Modification of
(1) As a magneto-optical recording medium, a multilevel level can be recorded using another medium. For example, when an external magnetic field belonging to two different magnetic field regions is applied, each of the first recording layer becomes two different recording states (magnetization states) and two magnetic field regions different from these two magnetic field regions. On the other hand, it is also possible to use a magneto-optical recording medium in which a second recording layer that is in two different recording states and made of a material different from the first recording layer in magneto-optical characteristics is laminated. In this case, the second recording layer does not have to be composed of the perpendicular magnetization film and the auxiliary magnetic film described in the fourth embodiment, and may be a single magnetic film. It is necessary that two different recording states be obtained in two magnetic field regions different from the two magnetic field regions in which the first recording layer is in a recording state. Specific examples of such a medium are described in Japanese Patent Application Nos. 6-96690 and 6-143634 previously filed by one of the present applicants. The techniques described therein are incorporated herein by reference.
[0158]
The description of FIG. 21 (b), FIG. 21 (c), FIG. 22, and FIG. 23 described above for the medium of the fourth embodiment also applies to such a medium. For example, when a first recording layer having the characteristics indicated by the one-dot chain line in FIG. 23 and a second recording layer having the characteristics indicated by the broken line in FIG. 23 are stacked, H0, H1, H2, By applying each external magnetic field of H3, the four recording states “0”, “1”, “2”, and “3” shown in FIG. 23 can appear. Therefore, for example, as shown in these figures, the recording state by the external magnetic field H0 is “0”, the recording state by the external magnetic field H1 is “1”, the recording state by the external magnetic field H2 is “2”, and the recording state by the external
[0159]
(2) As shown in FIG. 29, a DC bias magnetic field is applied to the external magnetic field and the central magnetic field of the external magnetic field is −50 ( If shifted to the minus side by about Oe), ternary signals can be recorded with a small external magnetic field of about ± 50 (Oe).
[0160]
(3) The recording circuit shown in FIG. 24 can be modified as follows, for example. The
[0161]
(4) Of course, other magnetic field generators such as electromagnetic coils can be used instead of the magnetic head.
[0162]
(5) As described in the fourth embodiment, instead of the method of providing two reference recording marks in the same sector, one reference recording mark is recorded in each sector and recorded in two adjacent sectors. The above three slice levels can also be determined using two reference recording marks.
[0163]
<
In the reference example, multilevel phase recording was performed in which the positional deviation between the information mark recording position and the information recording grid point was changed according to the information to be recorded. In the fourth embodiment, multilevel recording is performed so as to record an information mark representing a signal that can take a multilevel level having a level depending on information to be recorded at each information recording grid point. The same multi-value phase recording was performed. In the present embodiment, the multilevel recording of the fourth embodiment is performed, but the multilevel phase recording is not performed. That is, the information mark to be recorded at each information recording lattice point is changed according to the information to be recorded, but the recording position of the information mark is not shifted from the information recording lattice point. For this purpose, unlike the fourth embodiment, user data is divided into a plurality of 2-bit portions, and the strength of the magnetic field to be applied is changed according to the value of the 2-bit portions. That is, in FIG. 19, the relationship between the previous 2 bits and the multi-level when the subsequent 2 bits are “01” or “11” is used. Also in the present embodiment, the same two-dimensional equalization circuit and equalization coefficient learning circuit described in the fourth embodiment are used to remove the crosstalk component from the adjacent track to the information mark. use.
[0164]
The preferred embodiments of the present invention have been described above, but the present invention is not limited to these embodiments, and various design changes can be made without departing from the spirit of the present invention. It is.
[0165]
【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, at the time of reproduction, a track is scanned using a one-beam optical system, and crosstalk components from adjacent tracks can be reduced by signal processing in which this reproduction signal can be executed by a simple device.
[0166]
Furthermore, in a desirable mode of the present invention, it is possible to further reduce the intersymbol interference component from the reproduced signal in which the crosstalk component is reduced.
[0167]
Further, according to another desirable aspect of the present application, when reproducing an information mark representing multi-value information, the multi-value information represented by the information mark is reduced after reducing the crosstalk component or the intersymbol interference component. Can be reproduced with high accuracy.
