Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an optical disc apparatus that records data on an optical disc having grooves and lands or reproduces recorded data, and a tracking control method thereof.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, data is recorded on an optical disc (information recording medium) having a recording track by a light beam output from a semiconductor laser mounted on an optical head or installed in an apparatus, or data recorded on an optical disc. An information processing apparatus such as an optical disk apparatus for reproducing the image has been put into practical use.
[0003]
In recent years, for the purpose of further improving the recording density, a technique for writing / reading data that has been written only on the groove or between the grooves (lands) on both the groove and the land has been developed. ing.
[0004]
In an optical disc apparatus, the light beam is driven in a direction perpendicular to the track on the optical disc by the coordinated operation of the actuator with a small displacement and the actuator with a large displacement, and is positioned and controlled with high accuracy over a wide range. (Tracking control).
[0005]
When performing such control, a photodetector is used to know the position of the light spot on the track, and a tracking error signal is obtained therefrom. At this time, in the photodetector, the balance of the light beam intensity is detected by two detectors or detectors divided into two.
[0006]
For example, in a tracking servo system using a detection method called a push-pull method, an offset occurs in a tracking error signal obtained from a photodetector, as will be described below.
[0007]
Hereinafter, a lens actuator which is one of small displacement actuators (tracking actuators) will be described as an example.
When the objective lens is moved by the lens actuator and the light spot moves on the track, the relative position of the objective lens and the photodetector changes, so that the position of the light beam on the photodetector is at its center. Deviate. As a result, the amount of light incident on the photodetector is biased, and an offset occurs in the tracking error signal. This offset is different from the error due to the positional deviation of the detector with respect to the objective lens that occurs during assembly of the apparatus.
[0008]
Thus, when the light spot is deviated from the center of the detector due to the operation of the lens actuator, an offset of the tracking error signal occurs. Here, the polarity of this offset that occurs when the lens actuator operates in a certain direction, and when the light spot deviates from the center of the groove or land on the optical disk when the lens actuator operates in the opposite direction to that described above If the polarities of the tracking error signals do not match, there is a possibility that the movement of the lens actuator increases and the tracking operation fails.
[0009]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
That is, in the conventional method, the polarity of the tracking error signal offset that occurs when the light spot is moved by moving the lens actuator in one direction, and the groove on the optical disk when the lens actuator moves in the opposite direction. If the polarity of the tracking error signal generated when the light spot deviates from the center of the center or the land is reversed, the movement of the lens actuator may increase and the tracking operation may fail. There is a problem that there is a high possibility that the tracking operation will fail when shifting to a tracking operation from a state in which it is not. The same problem occurs in the case of using a galvanometer mirror instead of the lens actuator as a small displacement actuator.
[0010]
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide an optical disc apparatus and a tracking control method thereof that can stably perform a tracking operation when tracking control is performed by obtaining a tracking error signal by detecting a balance of light beam intensity with a photodetector. There is to do.
[0011]

And detecting means for detecting non-equilibrium of diffracted light intensity due to the groove or land, and tracking indicating position information of the light spot in the tracking direction with respect to the groove or land based on the detection result of the detecting means. An output means for outputting an error signal, and the tracking error signal based on the tracking error signal. Also, The tracking error signal may be configured such that its polarity changes with the center of the groove or land as a boundary. In addition, the tracking error signal may be configured to include an offset that occurs with the movement of the light spot and whose polarity changes according to the movement direction of the light spot.
[0013]

In addition, the tracking error signal may be configured to include an offset that occurs with the movement of the light spot and whose polarity changes according to the movement direction of the light spot.
[0015]
In the present invention, a galvano mirror that irradiates a light beam to a groove formed concentrically on an optical disk or a land between the grooves to form a light spot, and rotationally drives the galvano mirror. A light spot moving means for moving the light spot in a tracking direction orthogonal to the groove or land, and a reflected light beam received from the optical disk irradiated with the light beam by the galvanometer mirror, thereby Detection means for detecting a non-equilibrium of the diffracted light intensity, and output means for outputting a tracking error signal indicating position information of the light spot with respect to the groove or land in the tracking direction based on the detection result of the detection means; The light spot moving hand based on the tracking error signal And control means for controlling the operation, said control means, said light spot to follow the movement with respect to the land, then, is characterized by moving the groove or Randohe the light spot of interest.
[0016]

Can be configured to move. The tracking error signal can be configured such that its polarity changes with the center of the groove or land as a boundary. In addition, the tracking error signal may be configured to include an offset that occurs with the movement of the light spot and whose polarity changes according to the movement direction of the light spot.

Next, tracking control will be described in detail.
Two actuators for tracking control are prepared as described above. That is, a tracking actuator (such as the drive coil 12) provided to drive only the
[0041]
A tracking error signal necessary for tracking control is obtained as follows.
As shown in FIGS. 2A to 2D, the reflected light beam from the
[0042]
When the light spot is at the center of the groove or the land, the tracking error signal is 0, otherwise it is a positive or negative value, and the whole has a sine wave shape. Tracking control is performed based on this signal. As shown in FIG. 3, the tracking error signal has a slope opposite to that on the groove and the land when the light beam is shifted in the same direction from the groove and the land. Therefore, in order to perform tracking control on a land or a groove, it is necessary to reverse the polarity of tracking control.
[0043]
2A to 2D show a tracking error signal (a tracking error signal that does not include an offset) obtained in an ideal tracking servo system, and a position of a light spot moving on the
[0044]
Next, taking an example of a lens actuator (such as the drive coil 12) as one of the tracking actuators, the offset of the tracking error signal will be described with reference to FIGS. 4 (a) and 4 (b).

For example, when tracking control to the center of the land is performed in the configuration of FIGS. 2A to 2D, 4A, and 4B, light is affected by, for example, disturbance. As shown in FIG. 2B, when the spot position deviates from the center of the land toward the outer periphery of the

However, in reality, when the
[0050]

[0054]
Therefore, according to the first embodiment, when performing a so-called tracking pull-in operation in which the tracking control is shifted from the state where the tracking control is not performed with the setting using the lens actuator, first, the light spot is formed on the groove. The control shifts to stable tracking control by moving the light spot, and thereafter, when tracking on the land is necessary, the light spot is moved onto the target land. By doing so, it is possible to lead to a stable tracking operation.
[0055]
Next, the above operation will be specifically described. For example, as shown in FIG. 5, the

A desirable method for switching the polarity after the track on / off signal is turned on is as follows.
That is, i) A half track jump is executed after reading the address destination. ii) Wait until the land / groove switching point before switching. iii) Switch after confirming that the servo system is stable. iv) Seeing the state immediately after the track is turned on, the inside / outside is judged and switched. v) The polarity switching method is changed between when accessing from the outer periphery and when accessing from the inner periphery (switching by adding an offset voltage).
[0075]
As described above, when performing a so-called tracking pull-in operation that shifts from tracking control to tracking control, the control shifts to stable tracking control by first moving the light spot onto the groove. Thereafter, when tracking onto the land is necessary, the light spot is moved onto the land.
Thereby, tracking pull-in to a stable tracking operation can be performed.
[0076]
<Second embodiment>
Next, a second embodiment will be described.
[0077]
The outline, focus, tracking control method, etc. of the optical disc apparatus according to the second embodiment are almost the same as those in the first embodiment.

Therefore, in the second embodiment, when performing a so-called tracking pull-in operation in which the control is shifted from the state where the tracking control is not performed to the tracking control with the setting using the

In the first and second embodiments described above, the polarity of the tracking error signal is limited and described, but the reverse may occur depending on the signal calculation method. In such a case, the polarity of the offset of the tracking error signal is also reversed. As a result, there is no change in the relationship between the type of tracking actuator and the type of stable and unstable track (land / groove). That is, tracking control is stable on the groove in the lens actuator and on the land in the galvanometer mirror.
[0095]
As described above in detail, according to the present invention, there is provided an optical disc apparatus capable of stably performing a tracking operation when tracking control is performed by obtaining a tracking error signal by detecting the balance of light beam intensity with a photodetector. it can.
In addition, this invention is not limited to the said Example, In the range of the summary,
Various modifications can be made.
[0096]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, the tracking operation can be stably performed even when the tracking error control is performed by detecting the tracking error signal by detecting the balance of the intensity of the light beam by the photodetector. .
