【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the first aspect of the present invention, the upstream conveyance path portion extending in a substantially planar shape from the reverse conveyance path portion to the upstream side in the document conveyance direction, and the downstream side in the document conveyance direction from the reverse conveyance path portion. The first reading unit and the second reading unit provided in the downstream-side conveyance path portion extending substantially in a plane are individually provided with a light source and a light receiving unit, respectively, so that the first reading unit and the second reading unit are optically connected to each other. While preventing mutual interference, the front and back surfaces of the same document can be read independently of each other, and the time required for duplex copying can be shortened.
And, when reading the back side of the document by the second reading unit, the light from the first reading unit is irradiated on the back side of the document together with the light from the second reading unit. Thus, it is possible to realize a double-sided document reading apparatus that can reduce the difference in illuminance on the document surface and can satisfactorily read both sides of the document.
[0101]
According to the second aspect of the present invention, when the document is read by the second reading unit, the light amount is adjusted so that the light amount of the light source of the first reading unit is smaller than that when the document is read by the first reading unit. As a result, it is possible to eliminate image skipping due to an excessive amount of light when reading the back surface.
[0102]
According to the third aspect of the present invention, by configuring the second reading unit from an equal-magnification optical system, the distance (optical rejection) between the reading region and the light-receiving element of the reading unit rather than the equal-magnification optical system. Compared with the case where a reading unit composed of a long and large reduction optical system is arranged, a more compact design can be achieved, so that the degree of design freedom can be increased.
