Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a sheet aligning apparatus suitable for a sheet post-processing apparatus connected to an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine or a printer. And image forming apparatus including the sheet aligning deviceAbout.
[0002]
[Prior art]
When a sheet such as paper is stored in the staple tray and aligned with the rear edge fence, the upper surface of the sheet is struck by a return roller that swings so as to be in contact with and separated from the upper surface of the sheet, and the sheet is dropped to the rear edge fence. A sheet post-processing apparatus that is forced to abut is known.
When the return roller hits the sheet by the pendulum motion, the pressure applied to the return roller differs depending on how far the torsion coil spring attached to the return roller is twisted.
As shown in FIGS. 11 and 12, the sheet P stored in the storage unit is hit by the
Conversely, as shown in FIG. 12, if the number of sheets P stored in the storage unit is small, the pressure applied by the

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
If the number of sheets stored (the number of stacked sheets) increases and the applied pressure becomes too large, there is a disadvantage that the load on the return roller increases and the life is shortened. Moreover, it becomes a cause of overfeeding and insufficient conveyance force.
On the contrary, when the number of sheets stored is small, the alignment performance is deteriorated due to poor sheet pressing. In addition, the time until the return roller hits the sheet becomes longer, and the return operation may not be in time.
Further, since the torsion angle of the torsion coil spring differs depending on the number of stacks, the movement of the return roller when the solenoid is off differs, and the followability of the solenoid off signal and the return roller becomes worse as the number of stacks increases.
Furthermore, the conventional method using a solenoid cannot cope with a high CPM (copy / min) and a large number of sheet stacking models from the viewpoint of solenoid durability.
[0004]

A fourth problem of the present invention is a sheet aligning apparatus capable of performing an appropriate sheet aligning operation according to sheets having various thicknesses. And image forming apparatusIs to provide.
