Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a recording apparatus, and more particularly to a recording apparatus that performs recording in accordance with an ink jet method.
[0002]
[Prior art]
With the technical development in the computer field, the performance and cost of host computers (hereinafter referred to as “hosts”) have increased, and application software has become more user-friendly. On the other hand, high performance and low prices are also progressing in the field of peripheral devices for hosts. In particular, there are remarkable advances in color, high definition, and high speed recording devices.
[0003]
Conventionally, in such a recording apparatus, the recording mode is set by an operation unit provided in the apparatus, for example, a key switch or a DIP switch. For example, the recording mode includes switching between the image quality priority mode and the recording speed priority mode, switching the paper width, specifying enlargement / reduction, specifying the type of recording medium, and recording head cleaning instruction.
[0004]
On the other hand, in the manufacturing development and quality control departments of factories that produce recording devices, various performance confirmation inspections regarding the recording devices are performed. One of the inspections is a self-check performed by operating a switch of the operation unit. The self-check includes a recording paper conveyance performance check, a carriage scanning performance check, and various predetermined operations for confirming the durability of the apparatus.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the above conventional example, with the improvement of the host performance and the software function, the setting of the recording mode of the recording device can be easily performed from the host, and the operation for setting the recording mode on the recording device side becomes possible. In order to perform the above-described self-check, it is necessary to use one host for each device.
[0006]
Therefore, in order to check a large number of devices at the same time, a large number of hosts must be prepared, and there is a problem that a large amount of cost is required to prepare the check environment. Furthermore, not only a large space is required for the host check environment, but there is also a problem that the time required for the check becomes long due to various procedures related to the host operation.
[0007]
In order to deal with such a problem, it is possible to provide a switch or jumper pin that is not released to the user in the electrical unit and perform a self-check using the switch or pin. There is a problem that the cost of one unit becomes high.
[0008]
In addition, in a recording apparatus in which an IC card or the like can be mounted, self-checking can be performed by providing the IC card with a function capable of performing a self-checking operation. It cannot be applied to a recording apparatus that does not include the card, and it can be said that it is reasonable from the viewpoint of cost performance to provide a slot for an IC card in order to apply this method to all recording apparatuses. Absent.
[0009]
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described conventional example, and an object thereof is to provide an inexpensive recording apparatus that can easily perform a self-check without using a host.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the recording apparatus of the present invention has the following configuration.
[0011]
That is, a control circuit that controls execution of a recording operation and a predetermined operation check procedure, an electrode related to an execution instruction of the predetermined operation check procedure, and an electrode connected to the electrode, the control circuit related to the electrode And a detachable member for instructing execution of the predetermined operation confirmation procedure, wherein the detachable member is a clip formed of a conductive elastic member, The entire clip is mounted on the control circuit in a state of being separated from the electrode, and a part of the clip is brought into contact with the electrode by pressing a part of the clip from above. A recording device is provided.
[0012]
Here, the control circuit and the electrode are mounted on the printed circuit board, and the circuit related to the electrode is preferably in an open state when there is no connection with a member.
[0013]
Furthermore, a memory for storing a program for a predetermined operation check procedure may be provided.
[0019]
Also, when the detachable member comes into contact with the electrode and at least a part of the control circuit related to the electrode is closed, a program for a predetermined operation check procedure stored in the memory is read. It is desirable to be executed.
[0026]

Therefore, according to the embodiment described above, it is possible to close a specific circuit on the printed circuit board and perform a specific operation by using various members and contacting an electrode having a configuration in which the circuit is normally open. The self-check can be easily performed by minimizing apparatus components without being connected to the host and without providing a specific switch or the like in the recording apparatus. Furthermore, there is an advantage that the production cost of the apparatus itself is reduced by minimizing the apparatus components.
[0062]
Such a self-check also eliminates the procedure of operating the host, for example, which contributes to improving the productivity of the self-check work.
[0063]
In the above description, the description has been made by paying attention to only one or two electrodes, but it goes without saying that such electrodes may be provided on the printed board.
[0064]
In particular, if the printed circuit board is configured so that the self-check is achieved using only the

Further, in the above description, the resistance value of the conductive portion is not particularly mentioned. However, when the conductive portion having a specific resistance value is provided and the circuit is closed, the resistance value is, for example, an MPU provided on the printed circuit board. And may be controlled to perform a specific self-check. This prevents a conductive member from accidentally touching the electrode to close the circuit and prevent the self-checking operation from starting at an unexpected timing.
[0067]
[Other Embodiments]
In the above embodiment, the conductive member is mechanically brought into contact with a specific electrode provided on the printed circuit board, and the circuit is closed and the self-check is performed. Here, a specific pattern is optically read, An example of performing a self-check according to the pattern will be described.

On the other hand, if it is determined that the read pattern is not the execution instruction pattern for the self-check operation, the process proceeds to step S5, and whether the read pattern is an instruction pattern for returning to the normal recording mode. Find out. If it is determined that the pattern is an instruction pattern for returning to the recording mode, the process proceeds to step S6. If not, the process proceeds to step S9.
[0077]
In step S6, the recording mode of the recording apparatus is changed to the recording mode determined from the reading pattern, the apparatus is set in a recording operation standby state, and the process ends. The recording modes here include speed priority mode, image quality priority mode, code paper mode, black enhancement mode, Y, M, C, and K gamma correction modes. For example, if the recording device is set to a recording mode in which the redness increases in this recording mode setting, a recording operation in which the redness is always increased by default is executed at the time of actual color recording. No need to set color.
[0078]
In step S9, it is determined that an improper recording medium is attached, and an error message is displayed on the LCD, for example, or a specific color LED is lit to inform the operator of the device, and the device is The process ends in the recording operation standby state.
[0079]
Therefore, according to the embodiment described above, a detachable recording medium on which a pattern is recorded is mounted, and the pattern can be optically read to easily execute a self-check operation or a default recording mode. Can be changed.

Further, the reflection
[0081]
In the above-described embodiment, particularly in the ink jet recording system, a means (for example, an electrothermal converter or a laser beam) that generates thermal energy as energy used for performing ink ejection is provided, and the thermal energy By using a system that causes a change in the state of the ink, it is possible to achieve higher recording density and higher definition.
[0082]
As its typical configuration and principle, for example, those performed using the basic principle disclosed in US Pat. Nos. 4,723,129 and 4,740,796 are preferable. This method can be applied to both the so-called on-demand type and continuous type. In particular, in the case of the on-demand type, it is arranged corresponding to the sheet or liquid path holding the liquid (ink). By applying at least one drive signal corresponding to the recording information and applying a rapid temperature rise exceeding the film boiling to the electrothermal transducer, the thermal energy is generated in the electrothermal transducer, and the recording head This is effective because film boiling occurs on the heat acting surface of the liquid and, as a result, bubbles in the liquid (ink) corresponding to the drive signal on a one-to-one basis can be formed. By the growth and contraction of the bubbles, liquid (ink) is ejected through the ejection opening to form at least one droplet. When the drive signal is pulse-shaped, the bubble growth and contraction is performed immediately and appropriately, and thus it is possible to achieve the discharge of liquid (ink) with particularly excellent responsiveness.
[0083]
As this pulse-shaped drive signal, those described in US Pat. Nos. 4,463,359 and 4,345,262 are suitable. Further excellent recording can be performed by employing the conditions described in US Pat. No. 4,313,124 of the invention relating to the temperature rise rate of the heat acting surface.
[0084]
As the configuration of the recording head, in addition to the combination configuration (straight liquid flow path or right-angle liquid flow path) of the discharge port, liquid path, and electrothermal transducer as disclosed in each of the above-mentioned specifications, the heat acting surface The configurations using US Pat. No. 4,558,333 and US Pat. No. 4,459,600, which disclose a configuration in which is disposed in a bending region, are also included in the present invention. In addition, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 59-123670, which discloses a configuration in which a common slot is used as a discharge portion of an electrothermal transducer, or an opening that absorbs a pressure wave of thermal energy is discharged to a plurality of electrothermal transducers. A configuration based on Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 59-138461 disclosing a configuration corresponding to each part may be adopted.
[0085]
Furthermore, as a full-line type recording head having a length corresponding to the width of the maximum recording medium that can be recorded by the recording apparatus, the length is satisfied by a combination of a plurality of recording heads as disclosed in the above specification. Either a configuration or a configuration as a single recording head formed integrally may be used.
[0086]
In addition to the cartridge-type recording head in which the ink tank is integrally provided in the recording head itself described in the above embodiment, it can be electrically connected to the apparatus body by being attached to the apparatus body. A replaceable chip type recording head that can supply ink from the apparatus main body may be used.
[0087]
In addition, it is preferable to add recovery means, preliminary means, and the like for the recording head to the configuration of the recording apparatus described above because the recording operation can be further stabilized. Specific examples thereof include a capping unit for the recording head, a cleaning unit, a pressure or suction unit, an electrothermal converter, a heating element different from this, or a preheating unit using a combination thereof. In addition, it is effective to provide a preliminary ejection mode for performing ejection different from recording in order to perform stable recording.
[0088]
Further, the recording mode of the recording apparatus is not limited to the recording mode of only the mainstream color such as black, but the recording head may be integrated or may be a combination of a plurality of colors. An apparatus having at least one of full colors can also be provided.
[0089]
In the embodiment described above, the description is made on the assumption that the ink is a liquid, but it may be an ink that is solidified at room temperature or lower, or an ink that is softened or liquefied at room temperature, Alternatively, the ink jet method generally controls the temperature of the ink so that the viscosity of the ink is within a stable discharge range by adjusting the temperature within a range of 30 ° C. or higher and 70 ° C. or lower. It is sufficient if the ink sometimes forms a liquid.
[0090]
In addition, it is solidified in an untreated state in order to actively prevent the temperature rise by thermal energy from being used as the energy for changing the state of the ink from the solid state to the liquid state, or to prevent the ink from evaporating. Ink that is liquefied by heating may be used. In any case, by applying heat energy according to a recording signal of thermal energy, the ink is liquefied and liquid ink is ejected, or when it reaches the recording medium, it already starts to solidify. The present invention can also be applied to the case of using ink having the property of liquefying for the first time. In such a case, the ink is held as a liquid or solid in a porous sheet recess or through-hole as described in JP-A-54-56847 or JP-A-60-71260, It is good also as a form which opposes with respect to an electrothermal converter. In the present invention, the most effective one for each of the above-described inks is to execute the above-described film boiling method.
[0091]
In addition, as a form of the recording apparatus according to the present invention, a copying apparatus combined with a reader or the like, and a transmission / reception function are provided as an image output terminal of an information processing apparatus such as a computer or the like. It may take the form of a facsimile machine.
[0092]
Note that the present invention can be applied to a system including a plurality of devices (for example, a host computer, an interface device, a reader, a printer, etc.), or a device (for example, a copier, a facsimile device, etc.) including a single device. You may apply to.
[0093]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to easily check the operation of the recording apparatus without using a host computer, a specific switch, or an operation panel, for example.
[0094]
Further, since there is no need for an instruction means having a complicated configuration, there is an advantage that a self-operation confirmation function can be provided at a low cost.
