Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an energization control method for an intake preheating device used for preheating intake air of a diesel engine.
[0002]
[Prior art]
The diesel engine is ignited by self-ignition that occurs as the fuel is compressed. Therefore, in order to improve the startability when the temperature of the engine is low, it is necessary to preheat the intake air supplied to the combustion chamber before starting the engine. Recently, in order to stabilize the rotational speed immediately after the engine is started and to improve the color of the exhaust gas, the intake air is preheated after the engine is started. The preheating of the intake air before starting the engine is called preheating, and the preheating of the intake air after starting the engine is called afterheating.
[0003]
As an intake preheating device that performs preheating and afterheating, it is common to use a glow plug (plug with an electric heater) attached to the combustion chamber of the engine or an air heater (electric heater) attached to the intake passage of the engine. .
[0004]
Conventionally, preheating is a method in which the time for energizing the electric heater of the intake preheating device (hereinafter referred to as preheating time) is constant regardless of the engine temperature, or the temperature of the engine cooling water is detected. The preheating time is continuously changed according to the temperature of the cooling water.
[0005]
Further, after-heating is performed only when the temperature of the cooling water of the engine is equal to or lower than a certain value, the energization time at that time is fixed to a predetermined constant length.
[0006]
FIG. 5 shows a time chart of energization control that is conventionally performed when preheating and afterheating are performed. FIG. 4A shows the operation of a key switch that controls energization to an electrical component load including an engine starting motor and an intake preheater. In FIG. OFF position where contacts stop energizing all loads, ON position where energizing loads of electrical components other than the starting motor (position during engine operation), energizing starting motor and other electrical components It shows that the vehicle is in the starting position for energizing the product load. FIG. 5B shows the operation of a preheating indicator lamp that displays whether or not the intake air preheating device is energized, and FIG. 5C is provided in the drive circuit of the intake air preheating device to energize the intake air preheating device. The operation of the preheater drive switch that is turned on is shown. As the preheating device driving switch, a switch such as a relay or a semiconductor switch that can be electrically turned on / off is used.
[0007]
As shown in FIG. 5, in the conventional control method for controlling energization of the intake preheater, the preheater drive switch is in an off state when the key switch is opened, and the intake preheater is energized. Blocked. At this time, the preheating indicator lamp is in the off state, indicating that the preheating of the intake air is not being performed.
[0008]
When the key switch is switched to the ON position (ON), the preheating device driving switch is turned on, the energization of the intake air preheating device is started, and preheating is started. At this time, the preheating display lamp is turned on to indicate that energization (preheating) to the intake preheating device is being performed. When the energization time to the intake preheater reaches a predetermined preheat time tp, the preheater drive switch is turned off, the energization to the intake preheater is cut off, the preheat is stopped, and the preheat indicator lamp is turned off. Be made. Then, when the driver who confirms that the preheat indicator lamp has been turned off switches the key switch to the start position (ST), the starter motor is driven, and at the same time, the intake preheater is connected to the intake preheater to facilitate the start of the engine. Energization is resumed. When the engine is started by the rotation of the starting motor, the key switch is returned to the ON position (ON), but energization to the intake preheating device is continued as it is. After heat is started from the time when the key switch is returned to the ON position (ON), and the elapsed time from the time when the key switch is returned to the ON position is set to an after heat time ta set sufficiently longer than the preheat time tp. When this is reached, the preheater drive switch is turned off. As a result, the energization of the intake preheating device is interrupted, and thus the after heat is completed. The preheating display lamp is held off after the time when the preheating is finished.
[0009]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the conventional energization control method of the intake preheating device, a constant drive current is continuously supplied to the intake preheating device for a predetermined set time ta. However, when such energization control is performed, the intake preheating device Since the heater temperature rises more than necessary, there is a problem that the life of the heater is shortened. In particular, when a glow plug that is directly exposed to a high-temperature atmosphere in the combustion chamber of the engine is used as the intake preheating device, the temperature of the glow plug rises significantly during after-heating, so that the heater may be damaged early.
[0010]
In addition, since both the glow plug and the air heater used as the intake air preheating device are electric heaters, a large amount of power is consumed when energized. For this reason, if the drive current supplied to the intake preheater is kept constant during the afterheat, which is considerably longer than the preheat, the burden on the battery that is the power source of the preheater increases, and the voltage of the battery There was a significant decline.
[0011]
While the intake preheating device is energized and after-heating is performed, the charging current supplied to the battery from the generator attached to the engine through the charging circuit increases, and this generator becomes a heavy load on the engine. There has been a problem that an increase in load causes a decrease in engine output and fuel consumption.
[0012]
The object of the present invention is to reduce the average value of the drive current supplied to the intake air preheating device when performing afterheating, thereby preventing the temperature of the intake air preheating device from rising excessively and driving the intake air preheating device during afterheating. It is an object of the present invention to provide a method for controlling energization of an intake preheating device for a diesel engine, which can reduce a burden on a battery to be charged and a generator for charging the battery.
[0013]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention provides preheating for energizing an intake preheating device before starting a diesel engine to preheat air supplied to the combustion chamber of the engine, and energizing the intake preheating device for supplying to the combustion chamber after the diesel engine starts. The present invention relates to a method for controlling energization of an intake preheating device for a diesel engine that performs afterheating for preheating the intake air.
[0014]
In the present invention, a preheating device driving switch for turning on and off the driving current supplied to the intake air preheating device and a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of the engine cooling water are provided , and the preheating device is driven when the afterheating is started. The set value of the number of times the switch is turned on is determined in accordance with the temperature of the cooling water detected by the temperature sensor so that the set value becomes smaller as the temperature of the cooling water increases. When performing after heat, when the temperature sensor detects that the temperature of the engine cooling water is equal to or lower than the set value, it starts an operation to turn on and off the preheater drive switch at the set duty ratio. Thus, the electric heater is energized intermittently. After starting energization of the intake preheater, when it is detected that the temperature of the cooling water has exceeded the set value, or when the number of times the preheater drive switch is turned on reaches the set value, The intermittent energization to the intake preheating device is stopped by holding the switch in the off state.
[0015]
As described above, when the energization to the intake air preheating device is intermittently performed when the afterheating is performed, the average value of the drive current flowing through the intake air preheating device is lowered, and therefore the battery for driving the intake air preheating device and The burden on the generator for charging the battery can be reduced, and it is possible to prevent the voltage of the battery from greatly decreasing or the output of the engine from decreasing when performing after-heating.
[0016]
In addition, if the energization of the intake air preheating device is intermittently performed, the temperature of the electric heater of the intake air preheating device can be prevented from excessively rising, so that the life of the intake air preheating device can be prevented from being shortened. .

In performing the above control, the on / off duty ratio Df of the preheating drive switch Df = ton / so as to limit the temperature of the heater provided in the intake preheating device to a limit value or less (so as not to increase excessively). Considering the capacity of the electric heater of the intake preheater so that (ton + toff) is set to an appropriate value and the intake air temperature necessary to stabilize the engine rotation and improve the color of the exhaust gas is obtained, The set value ns of the number n of ON operations of the preheating drive switch is set to an appropriate value according to the engine coolant temperature. The set value ns of the number of times the preheating drive switch is turned on may be determined according to the detection output of the

FIG. 3 shows an example of the relationship between the preheat time tp and the engine cooling water temperature T and the relationship between the cooling water temperature and the after heat. In this example, the cooling water temperature was set to around -20 ° C. The preheat time tp is fixed to the maximum value tpmax when the set value T1 is less than or equal to the set value T1, and the preheat time tp reaches the maximum value as the cooling water temperature rises within the range from the set temperature T1 to the set temperature T2 set near + 5 ° C It continuously shortens from tpmax to the minimum value tpmin. In a range exceeding the set temperature T2, the preheat time tp is fixed to tpmin.
[0032]
Further, in the example shown in FIG. 3, after-heating is performed when the cooling water temperature when the engine is started is equal to or lower than the set value T3 set to around 50 ° C., and the cooling water temperature is set to the set value when the engine is started. After-heating is not performed when T3 is exceeded. In addition, after-heating is also stopped when the cooling water temperature exceeds the set value T3 during the after-heating.
[0033]
In the example shown in FIG. 2, when the after heat is started at time t4, the transistor TR2 in the on state is turned on as it is, and the after heat is started from the on state of the preheater driving switch (relay 8). However, as shown in FIG. 4, afterheating may be started from the OFF state of the preheating drive switch. When the after heat is performed as shown in FIG. 4, the transistor TR2 is turned off at the after heat start time t4, and the transistor TR2 is turned on after a predetermined off time toff has elapsed. When a predetermined on-time ton has elapsed after the transistor TR2 is turned on, the transistor TR2 is turned off. Similarly, the transistor TR2 is alternately turned on and off to turn on the preheating device driving switch (relay 8) for a predetermined time ton and off for a predetermined time toff. The off-operation for setting the state is alternately performed, and the energization of the intake air preheating device 9 is intermittently performed at a predetermined period τ.
[0034]
The
[0035]
In carrying out the present invention, the on / off duty ratio Df of the preheating driving switch may be fixed to a constant value, but is changed according to the engine coolant temperature (the current supplied to the intake preheating device is PWM controlled). You may do it.
[0036]
In the above description, the setting value ns for the number of on operations of the preheating drive switch is determined according to the coolant temperature of the engine. However, as a condition for determining the setting value ns for the number of on operations, Other conditions such as an engine load state may be added. For example, even when the engine coolant temperature is the same, the set value of the number of ON operations of the preheating drive switch may be decreased when the engine load is heavy.
[0037]
In the present invention, it is preferable that the set value ns of the number of ON operations is determined according to the cooling water temperature as described above, or is determined according to both the cooling water temperature and the engine load state. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and the set value of the number of ON operations of the preheating device driving switch may be made constant regardless of the coolant temperature or the engine load state.
[0038]
In the above example, the relay 8 is used as the preheating device driving switch. However, as a matter of course, a semiconductor switch may be used as the switch.
[0039]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, when the afterheating is performed, the intake air preheating device is intermittently energized. Therefore, the average value of the drive current flowing through the electric heater is reduced to reduce the intake air The burden on the battery that drives the preheating device and the generator that charges the battery can be reduced, preventing the battery voltage from drastically decreasing and the engine output from decreasing when performing afterheating. be able to.
[0040]
In addition, according to the present invention, when the afterheating is performed, the intake air preheating device is energized intermittently, so that the temperature of the electric heater of the intake air preheating device is prevented from excessively rising, and the life of the intake air preheating device is shortened. Can be prevented.
