Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a tape cartridge, and more particularly to a tape cartridge having a built-in security tag for preventing theft and usable in a server or a workstation.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In financial institutions, government agencies, and the like that handle a large amount of data, loss or leakage of data results in loss of trust. Therefore, it is necessary to store data in a large-capacity external storage device as a backup, and in that case, a magnetic tape is generally used.
[0003]
The magnetic tape is stored in a cartridge and has a structure that not only improves reliability but also is easy to handle. However, not only can the cartridge be removed from the drive unit, but the storage location can be easily moved. Therefore, it is necessary to perform strict management so that the cartridge is not taken out of a predetermined security area.
[0004]
The format of mainframe manufacturers has been used as a de facto standard for cartridges applied to computer systems conventionally used by financial institutions and administrative institutions, but mainframe manufacturers have special security for cartridges. No measures were taken.
[0005]
Therefore, in order to prevent the tape cartridge from being taken out of the predetermined area, the user can monitor the taking out of the predetermined security area by inserting or attaching a security tag.

2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, computers used in financial institutions, administrative institutions, and the like are shifting from mainframes to servers or workstations (hereinafter simply referred to as servers).
Standards for tape cartridges for mainframes were not published because major manufacturers' standards were de facto standard, but tape cartridge standards for servers that enable economical system development have been published in many cases. And many manufacturers.
[0009]
Server cartridges are manufactured by a number of manufacturers based on published standards. However, with the new standard, physical settings to prohibit or allow writing to magnetic tape are different from those for mainframe tape cartridges. Since the switch is used, the security tag cannot be inserted from the gap between the wheel switch and the side surface unlike the cartridge for the main frame.
Therefore, it has been difficult to apply a security tag to a tape cartridge in order to prevent the tape cartridge from being taken out of a predetermined security area.
[0010]
