【0001】

f′=Fsinθ+f1 cos(θ−α)+f2 cos(θ−β) ……(1)
f′cosθ>f1 cosα+f2 cosβ+μf′sinθ ……(2)
f=μf′cosθ+f′sinθ ……(3)

In such an image forming apparatus, a developer carrier of four colors is arranged facing a drum-shaped image carrier, and the developer carrier is separated from and brought into contact with the image carrier for each color. After developing the electrostatic latent images of each color formed on the carrier, the images are transferred to an intermediate transfer member, and this process is repeated for the four color images, whereby the four color images are sequentially formed on the intermediate transfer member. Overlapping recording is performed.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In such an image forming apparatus, the developer carrier is separated from and brought into contact with the elastic image carrier by swinging the developer carrier around one fulcrum or by moving the developer carrier to the image carrier. This is done by sliding against. By the way, in the present invention, an elastic photoconductor is used, and when a hard developing roller is pressed against the photoconductor, the elastic photoconductor surface is deformed due to the contact with a fixed bite depth. That is, as shown in FIG. 9 which is a cross-sectional view with respect to the shaft, when a certain developing

Also, when trying to determine the positional relationship between the developing device and the photoconductor only by the swinging operation, the position of the swinging fulcrum is fixed, while the accuracy of the parts varies. As shown in FIG. 11, the distance between the left and

This prevents one-sided contact in the case where the drive side comes into contact first and the case where the drive side comes in contact first. Thus, in the present invention, a constant distance relationship can be established irrespective of the positional relationship between the developing device and the photoconductor, and the image densities can be made uniform by making the biting depth on the left and right constant.
[0015]
FIG. 14 is a diagram for explaining a swing fulcrum elongated hole in which a pin slides.
As described above, the
[0016]
By the way, in the case of the pressure contact developing system, a configuration is adopted in which a developing device which is a rigid body bites into the elastic photoconductor, and in order to secure a predetermined nip amount, the photoconductor and the developing device are stably fixed at a predetermined nip amount. Is required to maintain the pressure. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 15, a spring 26 is stretched between the side plate on the opposite side to the driving side and the mounting table, and the mounting table, that is, the developing device is slid in the long hole by the long hole direction component F1 of the spring pulling force. The necessary pressing force F between the photosensitive member and the developing device is obtained. As a result, a predetermined nip amount is secured, and the secured nip amount is maintained so that a defect of uneven image density does not occur.
[0017]
When the mounting table is urged in the sliding direction by the force of the spring 26 stretched between the side plate and the mounting table, the direction in which the spring force acts differs depending on the posture at the time of contact and separation, and the developing device is fixed. The work table is twisted. That is, at the time of contact, the attitude of the developing device is determined by the pivoting fulcrum and the positioning portion of the photosensitive member flange, so there is no problem. However, when the developing device is separated, the counter-drive side is supported by only one pivoting fulcrum pin. The spring force has a moment with respect to the swing fulcrum pin, and this moment acts as a force for twisting the mounting table. When this twist occurs, there is a difference in the amount of toner transport between the left and right sides of the developing device, or excessive transport occurs, which affects the developing characteristics. Therefore, the spring 26 is biased so that the direction of the force of the spring 26 that urges the component in the sliding direction is the swing center direction. That is, by attaching one end of the spring 26 to the side plate at the position of the swing fulcrum pin, the force acting on the spring is directed toward the center of the swing fulcrum regardless of the change in the posture, The moment of twisting the mounting table can be prevented from acting.
[0018]
When the position on the rear side (toner tank side) with respect to the developing roller is high, as in the two upper developing devices in FIG. 1, as shown in FIG. The necessary pressing force F of the photoconductor and the developing device may be obtained by the long hole component W1 of the component W acting. Further, the required pressing force may be obtained by using the developing device's own weight and the spring force together.
[0019]
FIG. 17 is an explanatory view in which the transfer of the driving force to the developing device is defined as a swing fulcrum.
In the present invention, only the swinging operation is performed on the driving side, and the swinging operation and the sliding operation are performed on the non-driving side. When the meshing of the gear for transferring the driving force to the developing device by the swinging operation and the sliding operation changes. In addition, banding (density unevenness) of printing due to gear damage may occur. Therefore, as described above, by using the engagement between the developing

Next, the conditions at the time of contact and at the time of separation will be described with reference to FIGS.
When making contact, the positioning roller of the developing roller and the flange of the photoreceptor are in contact with each other for positioning, so the slide pin must not contact the slope of the slide wall to prevent poor contact. is there. On the other hand, when separated, the slope is slid by a predetermined amount in order to secure an appropriate relative positional relationship between the developing device and the photoconductor, so that it is finally on the

Next, the slide conditions will be described.
FIG. 20 is a diagram illustrating the balance of the force when the

μf ': frictional force on the slide wall
YY: mounting table direction
f ″: Force acting on the slide pin from the slope (drag force received from slide wall + friction force on slide wall)
f: Force to twist the mounting table
When expressing each force vector in this way,
f ′ = Fsin θ + f 1 cos (θ-α) + f 2 cos (θ-β) (1)
It is. The sliding force is f'cosθ, and when this force is greater than the force in the opposite direction, the slope slides.
f'cosθ> f 1 cosα + f 2 cosβ + μf'sin θ (2)
It becomes. On the other hand, the force f for twisting the mounting table is
f = μf′cosθ + f′sinθ (3)
It is necessary to minimize this value. Then, in equations (1) and (2), F, f 1 , F 2 α, β, and μ are given values, and the relationship between f ′ and θ that satisfies the sliding condition is determined. In the relationship, f ′ and θ that minimize f in equation (3) are determined. Can be Thus, a slide condition that minimizes the force for twisting the mounting table is required. As described above, since the elastic photosensitive member has a large swelling at the center, the amount of swelling is determined in advance, and the necessary slide amount is set so that the separated developing device does not contact the photosensitive member.
[0024]
FIG. 22 is a diagram illustrating an example in which the slide slope is adjusted in the swing direction.
By the way, on the non-drive side that performs the swing operation and the slide operation, the swing angle varies, or the tolerance of the slide side with respect to the drive side that determines the separation swing angle (twist of the mounting table, twist of the developing drive unit side plate, The effect of the slide slope and the position tolerance of the slide pin) is inevitable. However, even in such a situation, the slide pins do not come into contact with the slope when they come into contact with each other, and need to slide by a predetermined amount to climb onto the climbing wall when they are separated. Therefore, as shown in the figure, by making the position of the
[0025]
In the above example, the swinging operation and the sliding operation are combined on the non-driving side, but the vertical movement is combined so that an appropriate separation and contact between the photosensitive member and the developing device can be performed. Is also good.
[0026]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, the relative positional relationship with the image carrier in the entire area of the developer carrier at the time of contact is achieved by combining two or more operations when the developer carrier is separated from and brought into contact with the image carrier. And the space required for the contact and separation operations can be reduced. Further, in the present invention, by adding a sliding operation to the swinging operation and moving the developer carrier in a direction away from the image carrier by the sliding operation at the time of separation, a sufficient distance between the two can be obtained. The jumping development can be prevented by keeping the separation distance in consideration of the deformation of the developer carrier. In addition, a large separation distance can be achieved in a smaller space by adding a sliding motion, the swing angle can be reduced, and the degree of freedom in layout can be increased.
[0027]
Further, in the present invention, by adding a sliding operation to the swinging operation, by sliding by the skew amount, a fixed distance relationship can be established regardless of the positional relationship between the developer carrier and the image carrier. In addition, it is possible to prevent one-sided contact and to make the bite depth constant to make the image density uniform.
[0028]
In addition, the present invention can reduce the frictional force at the swing fulcrum that also performs the sliding operation, can reduce the loss of the required pressing force of the developer carrier to the image carrier, and further reduce the spring force and the developer carrier. It is possible to secure the nip amount by obtaining the necessary pressing force by using the gravity, and to prevent the occurrence of the defect of uneven image density.
[0029]
Further, the present invention provides a swing operation by making the drive side swing only, and performing a swing operation and a slide operation on the non-drive side, and transferring the driving force to the developer carrier as a swing fulcrum. A change in gear engagement can be prevented.
[0030]
In addition, the present invention reduces the cost by sliding the slope using the driving force of the swinging operation in the sliding operation and selecting the direction of the sliding operation so that a driving source is not provided on the non-driving side. At the time of separation, a large separation distance can be obtained in a small space.
[0031]
Further, the present invention can prevent the slide pin from coming into contact with the slope of the slide wall when abutting, and ensure an appropriate relative positional relationship between the developer carrier and the image carrier when separated. Further, the mounting table can be slid under sliding conditions that minimize the twisting force.
