この発明は、例えば、光ディスク或は光磁気ディスク駆動装置の光学ピックアップ装置等に用いられ、光源から出射される光ビームを光ディスク或は光磁気ディスク等の信号記録面に集光させる対物レンズを、互いに直交するフォーカス方向及びトラッキング方向の2軸方向に駆動変位させるようにした対物レンズ駆動装置に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
例えば、光ディスク駆動装置では、光ディスクの信号記録面に記録された情報信号を読み取る手段として光学ピックアップ装置が用いられている。この光学ピックアップ装置には、光源としての半導体レーザから出射された光ビームを上記信号記録面に集束させる対物レンズを、互いに直交するフォーカス方向及びトラッキング方向の2軸方向に駆動変位させることによって、上記光ビームが上記信号記録面に合焦して記録トラックを正確に走査するようにしたアクチュエータとしての対物レンズ駆動装置が配設されている。

この対物レンズをフォーカス方向とトラッキング方向の2軸方向に駆動させる主なアクチュエータとしては、4本ワイヤ型と、軸摺動型のものが一般に知られている。これらを、図6,図7によって具体的に説明すると、図6は4本ワイヤ型の対物レンズ駆動装置100を、図7は軸摺動型の対物レンズ駆動装置110を、それぞれ示す。この4本ワイヤ型の対物レンズ駆動装置100は、対物レンズ101の支持体102を4本のワイヤ103でベース104に対して支持し、支持体102に巻き付けられたフォーカス制御用及びトラッキング制御用の駆動コイル105と磁石106及び磁気ヨーク107の電磁力により、対物レンズ101をフォーカス方向Fとトラッキング方向Tに駆動変位させる方式である。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、上記4本ワイヤ型の対物レンズ駆動装置100では、該対物レンズ駆動装置100に振動衝撃が加わると、フォーカス方向Fとトラッキング方向Tの両方向で上記振動衝撃が可動部である対物レンズ101を支持した支持体102に直接作用して該対物レンズ101等が動き易かった。このため、対物レンズ駆動装置100に振動衝撃が加わると、デフォーカス(対物レンズがフォーカス方向から外れること)やオフトラック(対物レンズがトラッキング方向から外れること)が生じ易いという問題があった。

以下、この発明の具体的な実施の形態例について図面を参照して説明する。

図1〜図3は、この発明の一実施形態例の対物レンズ駆動装置1を示す。この対物レンズ駆動装置1は、例えば、光ディスク駆動装置に内蔵された光学ピックアップ装置に用いられるものであり、該光学ピックアップ装置のキャリッジ等にネジ(いずれも図示省略)を介して取り付けられる固定ベース2を備えている。この固定ベース2は、金属矩形板状の前ベース部2aと後ベース部2bとを有していて、これら前ベース部2aと後ベース部2bとの間の該前ベース部2a寄りの一側部にコ字状に凹んだ開口部2cを切欠き形成してある。この開口部2cに後述する対物レンズ11が対向するようになっている。また、前ベース部2a上の前端中央には矩形の起立部2dを垂直に突設してあると共に、後ベース部2b上の前側中央及び後端中央には矩形の起立部2e及び2fを垂直にそれぞれ突設してある。

また、固定ベース2の後ベース部2b上の略中央には、円柱状のトラッキング方向用支軸3を圧入等の手段により垂直に立設してある。このトラッキング方向用支軸3には、図示しないボールベアリング等の軸受を介して金属製で四角ブロック状の可動ベース4を左右方向に回転自在に支持してある。この可動ベース4の前側には、金属板状の一対のフォーカスバネ(弾性体)5,5を介してレンズ可動体10を該可動ベース4から所定間隔離して取付けてある。このレンズ可動体10は、フォーカス調整駆動用磁気回路20によりフォーカス方向(対物レンズ11の光軸方向で図1,2中符号Fで示す)に駆動変位すると共に、トラッキング調整駆動用磁気回路20′によりトラッキング方向(対物レンズ11の光軸と直交する方向で図1.3中符号Tで示す)に駆動変位するようになっている。また、可動ベース4の両側面4a,4a中央の上記トラッキング方向用支軸3に相対向する同位置で該支軸3と直交する方向には、一対のフォーカス方向用支軸6,6を突設してある。この一対のフォーカス方向用支軸6,6には、図示しないボールベアリング等の軸受を介して金属製のウエイトホルダー30を上下方向に回転自在に支持してある。さらに、可動ベース4と後ベース部2bの起立部2fとの間には金属棒状のトラッキングバネ(弾性体)7を介在してある。

レンズ可動体10は、対物レンズ11と、この対物レンズ11を保持したボビン(レンズホルダー)12と、このボビン12に取付けられた後述するフォーカス制御用駆動コイル21及びトラッキング制御用駆動コイル21′と、上記ボビン12の両側面中央において対物レンズ11の中心に相対向するように突設した金属製の一対のピン13,13とで構成されている。対物レンズ11は、光学ピックアップ装置に内蔵された光源としての半導体レーザから出射された光ビームを光ディスクの信号記録面(いずれも図示省略)に集束させるためのものである。ボビン12は合成樹脂により略四角ブロック状に成形され、その中央に円筒状の突部12aを一体突出形成してあると共に、その前後部に矩形の一対の孔部12b,12bを形成してある。このボビン12の円筒状の突部12aに上記対物レンズ11を嵌合してある。

また、上記ボビン12を可動ベース4に取り付けるための各フォーカスバネ5は、上,下片部5a,5bと、この上,下片部5a,5bの先端側に一体折り曲げ形成された側片部5cとで正面コ字形に形成されており、各上,下片部5a,5bが上下方向に弾性変形するようになっている。そして、上記各フォーカスバネ5の側片部5cの内面側を上記ボビン12の側面に接着剤等により固定してあると共に、該各フォーカスバネ5の上,下片部5a,5bの基部間を可動ベース4の上下面に挾むようにして接着剤等により固定してある。

フォーカス調整駆動用磁気回路20は、上記ボビン12の前後の孔部12b,12bの回りを囲むように巻装されて取付けられた一対のフォーカス制御用駆動コイル21,21と、前記固定ベース2上に立設されて各フォーカス制御用駆動コイル21の一部を挾むように対峙した各一対の磁石22及び磁気ヨーク23とで構成されている。この各磁石22は固定ベース2の起立部2d,2eにそれぞれ接着剤等により固定してあり、各磁気ヨーク23は固定ベース2上に立設してボビン12の前後の各孔部12a内に遊挿されている。また、トラッキング調整駆動用磁気回路20′は、上記ボビン12の前後面に各一対取付けられたトラッキング制御用駆動コイル21′,21′と、上記固定ベース2上に立設されて各トラッキング制御用駆動コイル21′を挾むように対峙した各一対の磁石22及び磁気ヨーク23とで構成されており、これら磁石22と磁気ヨーク23は上記フォーカス調整駆動用磁気回路20のものと兼用されている。

ウエイトホルダー30は、枠型の基端部31と、この基端部31の両端側より前方に延びる両側部32,32とで平面略コ字状に形成してある。このウエイトホルダー30の枠型の基端部31内には、レンズ可動体10のカウンタバランスとして機能する金属矩形板状のウエイト40を保持してある。また、ウエイトホルダー30の両側部32,32の先端部には水平状に延びる切欠溝部32aをそれぞれを形成してある。この両側部32,32の各切欠溝部32aにはレンズ可動体10のボビン12の両側面より突設した各ピン13をそれぞれ挿入して枢支してある。

以上の実施形態例の対物レンズ駆動装置1によれば、図1に示す状態からボビン12に取付られたフォーカス制御用駆動コイル21に、光学ピックアップ装置により検出されたフォーカスエラー信号に基づく駆動電流が供給されると、上記フォーカス制御用駆動コイル21の磁気ヨーク23と対向する部分に流れる電流と磁石22からの磁束との作用によって、図2に示すフォーカス方向Fの電磁駆動力が発生する。これにより、レンズ可動体10が上下方向に並進移動する。すなわち、レンズ可動体10の対物レンズ11がフォーカス方向Fに可動制御されてフォーカス調整され、光ディスクの信号記録面上の所定位置に光ビームが正確に集光するようになる。この際に、レンズ可動体10を支持する一対のフォーカスバネ5,5がフォーカス方向Fに撓み変形して、レンズ可動体10とウエイト40を保持したウエイトホルダー30とが一対のフォーカス方向用支軸6,6を中心にしてシーソーのように上下方向に動く。尚、上記駆動電流が解除されると、一対のフォーカスバネ5,5の弾性付勢力により、上記レンズ可動体10等は図1に示す元の位置に復帰する。

このように、レンズ可動体10をフォーカス方向Fとトラッキング方向Tの2軸方向に駆動変位させる対物レンズ駆動装置1が振動や衝撃を受けても、ウエイトホルダー30に保持されたウエイト40がレンズ可動体10のカウンタバランスとして機能するので、このウエイト40により上記振動や衝撃が吸収されてレンズ可動体10は動かない。即ち、図4に示すように、対物レンズ駆動装置1がフォーカス方向に衝撃振動を受けたときに、フォーカス方向用支軸6のまわりにレンズ可動体10とウエイト40を回転させようとするモーメントが発生し、また、図5に示すように、トラッキング方向に衝撃振動を受けたときに、トラッキング方向用支軸3のまわりにレンズ可動体10とウエイト40を回転させようとするモーメントが発生するが、ウエイト40の質量(m2)と腕の長さ(d2)等は上記モーメントを打ち消し合う所定値に決められているので、上記各支軸3,6まわりのレンズ可動体10とウエイト40に発生するモーメントは打ち消し合って常にゼロとなる。従って、レンズ可動体10は振動衝撃を受けたときに動き難くなり、対物レンズ駆動装置1の耐振性・耐衝撃性を大幅に改善することができる。その結果、対物レンズ駆動装置1が振動衝撃を受けた時でもレンズ可動体10の対物レンズ11は動かないので、デフォーカスやオフトラックをともに確実に防ぐことができると共に、光ディスクの情報記録面に高密度で記録された情報信号を高速で読み取ることができて高速なアクセス性能を発揮させることができる。

以上のように、この発明の対物レンズ駆動装置によれば、対物レンズを有したレンズ可動体をフォーカス方向とトラッキング方向の2軸方向に駆動変位させる際に、フォーカス調整駆動用磁気回路とトラッキング調整駆動用磁気回路を上記レンズ可動体側にそれぞれ配設して、1つのウエイトを上記2軸方向に対してカウンタバランスとして機能させるようにしたので、上記レンズ可動体の耐振性及び耐衝撃性を大幅に向上させることができ、また、オフトラックとデフォーカスの発生をともに確実に防ぐことことができる。

このレンズ可動体を上記対物レンズの光軸方向であるフォーカス方向に可動させるフォーカス調整駆動用磁気回路と、
上記レンズ可動体を上記対物レンズの光軸と直交する方向であるトラッキング方向に可動させるトラッキング調整駆動用磁気回路と、
光学ピックアップ装置のキャリッジ等に取り付けられる固定ベースと、
該固定ベース上に垂直に立設したトラッキング方向用支軸と、
該トラッキング方向用支軸を中心にして左右方向に回転自在に支持されており、弾性体を介して上記レンズ可動体を支持する可動ベースと、
該可動ベースの上記トラッキング方向用支軸と直交する方向に突設されたフォーカス方向用支軸と、
該フォーカス方向用支軸を中心にして上下方向に回転自在に支持されたウエイトホルダーと、
該ウエイトホルダーの基端部に保持され、上記レンズ可動体のカウンタバランスとして機能するウエイトとを有し、
上記ウエイトホルダーの先端部に水平状に延びる切欠溝部が形成され、該切欠溝部に上記レンズ可動体より突設したピンが挿入されて上記レンズ可動体が上記ウエイトホルダーの先端部に枢支されていることを特徴とする対物レンズ駆動装置。 A lens movable body having an objective lens,
