By the way, as electronic equipment is downsized, the space inside the housing is also becoming smaller. Therefore, it is more difficult to insert and pull out both connectors 2 and 3 in a straight line along the mating / unmating direction x, y by inserting a hand into a narrow work space while considering interference with peripheral parts. Therefore, improvement of insertion / extraction operability was requested.

Further, in the above-mentioned electric connector 1, the socket terminal 5a and the plug terminal 7a are in conductive contact with each other due to the spring property. Therefore, the insertion force / removal force per pair of terminals 5a, 7a that contact each other is small, but the insertion force / removal force is very large for the entire electrical connector 1, that is, between the terminal rows 5 and 7.
Removal force is required. This applies not only to the multi-pole type electrical connector 1 as shown in FIGS. 6 to 8 but also to the electrical connectors of the type having a small number of poles when the terminals contacting each other are connected with a very large spring force. is there.

When the insertion / removal operation is difficult or a large insertion force or withdrawal force is required as described above, the socket connector 2 is alternately inserted into one end and the other end, for example. By applying force / pulling force, the fitting wall 4b (side wall portion 4d) of the socket connector 3 with respect to the fitting wall 6b (reception gap 6f) of the plug connector 3
By gradually increasing the amount of insertion and the amount of withdrawal, the fitting walls 4b and 6b of the connectors 2 and 3 can be slightly easier than the straight insertion and withdrawal as described above. However,
When performing such an insertion / removal operation, for example, if an unreasonable insertion force / removal force is applied to the left end portion and the right end portion of the socket connector 2 due to the troublesomeness of the insertion / removal, the side wall of the socket connector 2 that has been forcedly inserted or pulled out. The portion 4d may be damaged by strong pressing contact with the holding wall portion 6c and the side wall portion 6e of the plug connector 3. Therefore, there is a demand for an electrical connector that can be easily inserted / removed with a small insertion / pulling force.

In order to achieve this object, in the electrical connector of the present invention, the end portion of the side wall portion of the socket connector has a portion facing away from the holding wall portion of the plug connector. In addition to forming a pointed portion, a notched corner cutout portion is formed on the tip end side of the holding wall portion of the plug connector, the side edge portion facing the side wall portion of the socket connector is formed to face each other. An induction gap is provided between the side wall portion of the socket connector and the holding wall portion of the plug connector to enlarge the receiving gap to allow at least either rotational fitting or rotational removal of the socket connector and the plug connector. It is characterized by that.

In this electrical connector, a sharpened head is formed on the tip side of the side wall of the socket connector, the part facing away from the holding wall of the plug connector being formed, and the holding wall of the plug connector is formed. Between the side wall portion of the socket connector and the holding wall portion of the plug connector which are opposed to each other, a notched corner cutout portion is formed by cutting out a portion facing the side wall portion of the socket connector on the tip end side. In addition, the receiving gap for receiving the side wall portion of the socket connector is enlarged to provide an induction gap for allowing at least either rotational fitting or rotational removal of the socket connector and the plug connector. Therefore, even if the work space inside the housing of the electronic device is narrow, the socket connector and the plug connector can be smoothly rotationally fitted or rotationally removed,
The insertion / extraction operability at the time of mating and removal can be improved. Even for multi-pole type electrical connectors or small-pole type electrical connectors where the spring force of the terminals themselves is large, multiple socket terminals and multiple plugs can be attached by rotating the mating and unplugging the socket connector and the plug connector. The terminals come into contact with each other in sequence along the pitch direction with a time difference. for that reason,
The insertion and extraction forces are smaller than those of the conventional electrical connector in which a plurality of socket terminals and a plurality of plug terminals are simultaneously in contact with each other in the pitch direction, and insertion / removal operations can be performed easily.

Further, in the electric connector of the present invention, the tip end of the pointed portion of the socket connector and the corner cut-out portion of the plug connector are formed as inclined surfaces whose inclination directions substantially coincide with each other.

Therefore, when the socket connector and the plug connector are inserted / removed, the insertion / removal can be guided by the inclined surface portions whose inclination directions are substantially coincident with each other, and the rotational fitting or the rotational extraction can be smoothly performed.

Further, in the electric connector of the present invention, when only one side wall portion of the socket connector is inserted into the receiving gap of the plug connector, the width of the induction gap is larger than the wall thickness of the tip of the side wall portion. In the electric connector, since the guide gap is provided between the side wall portion of the socket connector and the holding wall portion of the plug connector which are opposed to each other, for example, only one side wall portion of the socket connector is formed on the side wall portion of the plug connector. When the semi-fitted state is inserted obliquely between the holding wall portion and the holding wall portion, one side wall portion that is inserted can freely move in the pitch direction of the terminal within the range of the guide gap. If this guiding gap is too large, the inserted one side wall moves in the large guiding gap in the pitch direction where it comes into contact with the side edge of the holding wall of the plug connector, causing a lateral displacement in the half-fitted state. If the socket connector continues to be rotationally fitted with this lateral misalignment, the other side wall part will completely ride on the side wall part of the plug connector in the middle, which makes rotational fitting impossible, and Even when fitted, there is a problem that the socket terminal does not come into contact with the tip of the plug terminal to be contacted but comes into contact with the intermediate portion thereof. However, in the electrical connector of the present invention, the width of the guide gap when only one side wall of the socket connector is inserted into the receiving gap of the plug connector is smaller than the wall thickness of the tip of the side wall. Since the pointed portion and the angled portion are formed, the amount of movement of the one side wall portion within the guide gap can be made equal to or less than the wall thickness of the pointed portion, so that the other side is formed in the process of rotational fitting. The side wall of the plug connector does not completely ride on the side wall of the plug connector, and the socket terminal can be brought into accurate contact with the plug terminal to be connected. It is possible to prevent such a problem as to occur.

In the electric connector of the present invention, the tip end side of the side wall portion of the plug connector facing the side wall portion of the socket connector is formed as a tapered surface portion which gradually expands in the removing direction.

Therefore, when the side wall portion of the socket connector is fitted along the tapered surface portion (side wall portion) of the plug connector for rotational fitting and rotational withdrawal, the terminals may come off and noise may be generated or the insertion and withdrawal may become hard. Without this, it is possible to smoothly perform rotational fitting and rotational removal.

In the process of this rotational fitting, the side wall portion 15 of the socket connector 12 has a side edge portion 17a of the holding wall portion 17 of the plug connector 13 as shown in an enlarged view in FIG. 3 (a).
The part facing the plug connector 13 is removed.
The side wall portion 18 of the tape is removed by the tapered surface portion 18b in the removal direction y.
Since the side wall portion 17a of the holding wall portion 17 is hollowed out by the corner portion 17c, the side wall portion 17a of the holding wall portion 17 is smoothed without being caught by the front edge portion 17d of the holding wall portion 17. It is possible to rotationally rush between the side wall portion 18 and the side edge portion 17a of the holding wall portion 17.

The rotation is continued in a contact state or in a non-contact state with the corner cutout portion 17c of the holding wall portion 17 of the above.
When 5b is rotated, the tip end portion 15d and the corner cutout portion 17c are tilted substantially in the same direction, so that the corner cutout portion 17c is rotated.
It is possible to smoothly continue the rotation fitting while receiving the guide.

Further, in the process of rotational fitting, the plurality of socket terminals 5a come into contact with the plug terminals 7a to be contacted with a time lag, so that the socket connector 2 is fitted to the plug connector 3 with a small insertion force. Can be made. In addition, the socket connector 2 is replaced with the plug connector 3
Also when detaching from the plug connector 3, the plug connector 3 can be pulled out similarly with a small pulling force.

Further, in the process of rotation fitting, as shown in FIG. 4A, one side wall portion 15 of the socket connector 12 is formed.
In the half-fitted state in which only the plug is inserted, the side wall portion 15 moves in the guide gap 19 and the holding wall portion 1 of the plug connector 13
7 may rotate in a state of being substantially in contact with the side edge portion 17a of No. 7. Even in this case, a small inclined surface is formed on the outer side of the tip portion 15d of the other pointed head portion 15b, and the inner edge portion 18c of the side wall portion 18 of the plug connector 13 is largely chamfered. The side wall portion 15 on the other side of the socket connector 12, as shown in FIG.
Since the tip end portion 15d (outer small inclined surface) of b and the inner edge portion 18 are brought into contact with the inside of the plug connector 13, smooth rotational fitting can be continued.

Further, even if the one side wall portion 15 is rotated in a state of being in contact with the side edge portion 17a of the holding wall portion 17 as shown in FIG. 4 (a), the other side wall portion 15 is rotated as shown in FIG. 4 (b). Side wall 1
Since 5 does not completely ride on the side wall portion 18 of the plug connector 13, rotational fitting does not become impossible. this is,
When only one side wall portion 15 of the socket connector 12 is inserted into the receiving gap 6f of the plug connector 13, the width of the guide gap 19 is equal to or less than the wall thickness of the pointed portion 15b of the one side wall portion 15. The pointed head portion 15b and the plug connector 13
This is because the square cutout portion 17c is formed. When the position of the socket connector 12 in the half-fitted state with respect to the plug connector 13 is small as described above, the terminal 5a of the socket connector 12 is "disengaged" with respect to the terminal 7a of the plug connector 13 even during the rotational fitting process. That is, the terminal 5a of the socket connector 12 does not come into contact with the tip portion of the terminal 7a of the plug connector 13 in the process of rotational fitting, but starts to come into contact with the terminal 7a of the plug connector 13 so as to ride up from the middle portion in the longitudinal direction. Since the phenomenon (see FIG. 5) can be prevented, abnormal noise does not occur and the insertion operation does not become hard.

Further, the side wall portion 18 of the plug connector 13
Since the inner edge portion 18c is chamfered with a large roundness, the socket connector 12 can be smoothly rotationally fitted along the inner edge portion 18c from any rotational fitting start angle shown by a solid line or a two-dot chain line in FIG. Can be made. Therefore, the rotational fitting start angle can be freely changed according to the limited work space inside the electronic device.

The plug connector 13 of this embodiment described above is used.
For example, as shown by the solid line in FIG.
It is also conceivable to form the tapered surface portion 18b ′ of No. 8 with a large inclination angle θ 2 with respect to the base end portion 18a ′ so as to expand in the removing direction y. In this case, since the side wall portion 15 of the socket connector 12 and the tapered surface portion 18b are in surface contact with each other in a large area, the positioning stability of the socket connector 12 with respect to the plug connector 13 at the start of rotational fitting is excellent. However, in this case, since the socket terminal 5a “falls off”, there is a problem that abnormal noise is generated and the insertion becomes hard. On the other hand, since the tapered surface portion 18b of the plug connector 13 of the present example is gradually enlarged in the removing direction y with a small inclination angle θ 1 with respect to the base end portion 18a, as shown by the chain double-dashed line in FIG. When the side wall portion 15 of the socket connector 12 is placed along the tapered surface portion 18b, the socket terminal 5a does not "fall off" with respect to the plug terminal 7a, and the above problem does not occur.

According to the electric connector of the present invention, the socket connector and the plug connector can be rotationally fitted and rotationally removed. Therefore, the large insertion force and withdrawal force that were required at the time of mating and uncoupling can be significantly reduced, and the socket connector and the plug connector can be smoothly mated, which greatly improves the operability of the electrical connector. Can be improved. Therefore, even if the work space inside the housing is small, it is relatively easy to insert and remove the socket connector and the plug connector, and since the insertion force and the withdrawal force are small, it is possible to use an unreasonable insertion force or withdrawal force. There is no risk of damaging the socket connector or plug connector, or disconnecting both connectors from the printed circuit board.
