Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 発明の分野 本発明は、異なるタイプの繊維の混合体を有する吸収
体コアを備えたおしめ、生理用ナプキン、大人の失禁用
具及びそれと同様なものの吸収製品に関する。
発明の背景 典型的には、吸収製品は、着用者に面する液体透過性
材料と、着用者の衣服に面する液体不透過性材料と、液
体透過性材料と液体不透過性材料との間に挟まれた吸収
本体または吸収体コアとを有する。従来の吸収製品にお
いて、吸収製品の表面上にたまった液体及び他の排出物
を吸収するために、細かく砕かれたエアフェルトと称さ
れる木のパルプを有する材料が吸収体コアに使用されて
いる。エアフェルトを使用する上での不都合の１つは、
必要な性能を得るために厚いエアフェルトを使用しなけ
ればならないことである。
吸収体コアの有効性を改良する最近の試みは、吸収体
コア内の吸収ゲル材料の粒子を配分することを含む。し
かしながら、吸収ゲル材料の粒子を含む吸収体コアの有
効性は、「ゲルブロッキング」と呼ばれる現象による逆
効果を有する。「ゲルブロッキング」とは吸収ゲル材料
の粒子が濡れて膨張するときに生じる状態を言う。この
ような多数の粒子は、吸収体コアの他の部分に液体が伝
達されることを禁止する。従って、非常にゆっくりした
拡散過程を経て残りの吸収体コアが濡れることになる。
これは、吸収体コアによる液体の吸収が、吸収された液
体の排出よりもからに遅くなる効果を有する。この結
果、吸収体コアの吸収ゲル材料の粒子が完全に飽和する
前、または、液体が残りの吸収体コアに「ブロック」粒
子を越えて拡散するか、または移動することができる前
に吸収体コアからの漏れがよく起こる。
吸収ゲル材料を有するか、または有しないエアフェル
トからなる吸収体コアを有する吸収製品に存在する他の
問題は、エアフェルトが濡れたときに、この構造が壊れ
ることである。吸収製品料が壊れると、それは、固まっ
て堅くなり、非可撓性となる。これは吸収製品を着用す
るには非常に不快感を生じる。
多くの労力がこれらの効果及び／または他の問題に向
けられた。これらの労力は、1986年９月９日にウエイス
マン等に発行された米国特許第4,610,678号、1987年６
月16日にウエイスマン等に発行された米国特許第4,673,
402及び1988年１月27日に発行されたプロクター＆ギャ
ンブル社に発行されたヨーロッパ特許出願公開第254,47
6号に開示されている。
第１の特許、米国特許第4,610,678号は、親水性繊維
と吸収ゲル材料材料の混合体を有する可撓性高密度吸収
構造体を開示している。この構造体は、実質的に結合さ
れない。（すなわち、それらは、比較的少数の繊維／繊
維結合部及び繊維／吸収ゲル材料粒子結合部を有す
る。）これは水または湿気に繊維及び親水性粒子を露出
することを避けることによって達成される。この構造体
は、約0.15乃至約1g/cm3の密度まで圧縮される。結合部
が無いことによってこれらの構造は、最初濡れたときの
容量を迅速に戻すことができ、吸収ゲル材料の吸収製品
料をさらに完全に利用することができる。
着心地を解決する１つの試みは、マシュー等に発行さ
れた米国特許第4,397,644号に開示されている。マシュ
ー等の特許は、吸収層を包囲する、着心地を向上させる
層の使用を開示している。着心地を向上させる層は、流
体トランスファ層と称する。流体トランスファ層は、縮
れた熱可塑性繊維、非熱可塑性繊維、吸収性または超吸
収性繊維及びセルロース繊維の束を有する。しかしなが
ら、基本的な吸収層は、従来のエアフェルトまたはセル
ロース繊維／エアフェルト構造体である。
種々の目的のために吸収製品に熱可塑性材料を追加す
ることを議論しているいくつかの他の特許に、エルドリ
ッジ等に発行された米国特許第3,285,245号，グラブダ
ールに発行された米国特許第3,545,441号，フィツジェ
ラルド等に発行された米国特許第3,976,074号，カラミ
等に発行された米国特許第4,047,531号，シャウガーに
発行された米国特許第4,054,141号，バターワース等に
発行された米国特許第4,082,886号及び4,129,132号，パ
テルに発行された米国特許第4,214,582号及びパチエン
ス等に発行された米国特許第4,219,024号がある。
しかしながら、熱可塑性材料の使用を開示した特許
は、濡れたとき、壊れる傾向が小さい吸収製品を有し、
その中のコア材料の使用を最適化する吸収製品を開示し
ていない。このように、吸収ゲル材料の粒子を追加的に
有する改良された吸収体コアの必要性が生じる。特に、
濡れたとき、壊れる傾向が小さく、その中のコア材料の
使用を最適化する吸収製品料をユ吸収製品の必要性が生
じる。
したがって、本発明の目的は、上述した特性を有する
吸収製品を形成することである。
本発明のこれら及び他の目的は、添付図面を参照しな
がら次の説明を考慮するときにさらに明らかになる。
発明の要約 本発明によれば、吸収体コアを有するおしめ、衛生ナ
プキン、大人用の失禁パンツまたはそれと同様なもの
は、異なるタイプの繊維を混合した吸収コアを有する。
好ましくは、吸収製品は、好ましくは、液体透過性ト
ップシートと、トップシートに結合された液体不透過性
のバックシートと、トップシートとバックシートとの間
に配置された混合吸収体コアと、獲得量とを有する。吸
収体コアは、短い、小さいデニールの親水性繊維の第１
のグループと、長い大きなデニールの合成繊維の第２の
グループとを有する均一な繊維混合体を有する。第１の
グループの繊維は、天然繊維、合成繊維またはクロスリ
ンクセルース繊維を有するグループから選択される。第
２のグループの繊維は、前記吸収体コアの約５％乃至約
90％の間の重量がある。吸収体コアは、少なくとも約0.
09g/cm3（1.5g/inch2）の密度まで圧縮される。
吸収体コアは、吸収製品の基本的な吸収層として作用
する。吸収製品は、（マシュー等の生理用ナプキンのよ
うに）吸収体コアがねじれないように別の流体トランス
ファー層には依存しない。混合体コアは、湿気の存在に
より圧縮される。これは、構造的な完全性が大きい吸収
体コアを提供する結合部をつくる。混合体コアは、たと
え、コア材料が製造中に湿気に当たるようになったとし
ても使用中に濡れたときにその容量を取り戻すために大
量の湿気感応繊維を含む。また、縮れた繊維はコアを圧
縮したときに互いにもつれる。この繊維のもつれによっ
て使用前にその密度を保持することにおいてコアを補助
する。

発明の詳細な説明 1.導入部 本発明は、異なるタイプの繊維を混合した吸収体コア
を有するおしめ、生理用ナプキン、大人用失禁用品及び
それと同様なものの吸収製品に関する。
ここに使用する用語の「吸収製品」は、体の排出物を
吸収し、それを保持する材料を言う。特に、この用語
は、体から排出された種々の***物を吸収し、それを保
持するために着用者の体に対してまたはそれに接近する
ように配置される吸収製品を言う。用語の「吸収製品」
は、おしめ、生理用ナプキン、下着、失禁用パッド、及
びそれと同様なものを含む。用語の「使い捨て」は、一
回使用した後に廃棄すること、好ましくは、リサイクル
して組み立てるか、または環境的に矛盾しない方法で廃
棄される品目を言う。（すなわち、それらは、吸収製品
として洗濯し、そうでなければ修繕するか、または再び
使用することを意図するものではない。） 吸収製品は、参照符号20で示す生理用ナプキンであ
る。
ここに使用する用語の「生理用ナプキン」は、体から
***された種々の***物（例えば、血液、メンス液及び
尿）を吸収し、それを保持することを意図する、女性に
よって外陰部に隣接するように着用される吸収製品を言
う。しかしながら、本発明は、図面に示すような特定の
タイプまたは形状の吸収製品には制限されない。
生理用ナプキン20は、２つの面、すなわち、体に接触
する面、すなわち「体表面」20A及び下着面20Bとを有す
る。生理用ナプキン20は、その体表面20Aから見えるよ
うに第１図に示す。体表面20Aは、着用者の体に隣接す
るように着用するようになっている。生理用ナプキン20
の着衣側面20B（第２図に示す）は、反対側にあり、生
理用ナプキン20を着用したときに、着用者の下着に隣接
するように配置するようになっている。
生理用ナプキン20は、２つの中央ライン、長手方向の
中央ラインＬ及び横断中央ラインＴを有する。ここに使
用する用語の「長手方向」は、生理用ナプキン20を着用
したとき、立った着用者の体を左及び右半分に２等分す
る垂直平面にほぼ整合した（例えば、ほぼそれと平行
な）生理用ナプキン20の平面の線、軸線または方向を言
う。ここに使用する用語の「横断」または「側方」は、
互換することができ、長手方向にほぼ直角な生理用ナプ
キン20の平面内にあるライン、軸線または方向を言う。
第１図は、生理用ナプキン20の周縁部26を形成する、２
つの間隔を置いた長手方向すなわち側縁22及び２つの間
隔を置いた横断すなわち端縁部24を有することを示す。
生理用ナプキン20は、比較的厚いまたは比較的薄い厚
さである。図面の第１図乃至第３図に示す生理用ナプキ
ン20の実施例は、比較的薄い生理用ナプキンの例であ
る。しかしながら、これらの図面を見るとき、図示した
材料層の数は、実際のものよりも厚く見えるように示さ
れていることを理解しなければならない。好ましくは、
「薄い」生理用ナプキン20は、約3mm未満の厚さであ
る。この薄い生理用ナプキン20は、それが着用者にとっ
て快適であるように比較的可撓性を有しなければならな
いことを理解すべきである。
第２図は、生理用ナプキンの個々の部品を示す。本発
明の生理用ナプキン20は、少なくとも３つの主な部品を
有する。これらは、液体透過性トップシート28と、液体
不透過性バックシート（または障壁手段）30と、吸収体
コア32とを有する。吸収体コア32は、トップシート28と
バックシート30との間に配置される。第２図に示す生理
用ナプキン20は、液体透過性獲得層（すなわち、獲得シ
ート）34を含む。獲得層34は、トップシート28と吸収体
コア32の間に配置された別のエレメントであるか、また
はトップシート28の部分か、またはコア32の部分を有す
る。好ましくは、生理用ナプキン20は、着用者の下着の
股の部分の周りに折り曲げられる追加的な側方フラップ
またはウイング36を有する。図示した生理用ナプキン20
は、生理用ナプキン20を着用者の下着に取り付けるため
に接着固定手段38を有する。取り外し可能なリリースラ
イナ40は、接着固定手段38をカバーして使用前に接着剤
が下着の股の部分以外の表面に張り付くことを防止す
る。
2.吸収製品の各部材 生理用ナプキンの個々の部材を詳細に検討する。
トップシート トップスート28は、生理用ナプキンを使用するとき
に、使用者の皮膚に接近するように配置される液体透過
性部材を有する。トップシート28は、好ましくは、柔軟
で軟らかい感じで、使用者の皮膚をできるだけ刺激しな
いものが好ましい。トップシート28は、良好な浸透性及
び再び濡れる傾向を示し、体の排出を迅速に貫通するこ
とを可能にするが、この排出物はトップシート28を通っ
て着用者の皮膚に向かって逆流することはできない。ま
た、トップシート28は、トップシート28に浸透するメン
ス液及び他の排出物を覆うために不透明であることが好
ましい。
トップシート28は、体に面する側面28A及び下着に面
する側面（すなわちコアに面する側面）28Bを含む２つ
の側面を有する。トップシート28の本体に面する側面28
Aは、生理用ナプキン20の体の接触する面（体の表面）
の少なくとも一部を形成する。トップシート28は、２つ
の長手方向の縁部28C及び２つの端縁部28Dを有する。
（生理用ナプキンの他の部材として同様の多数の参照符
号指示方法を使用する。すなわち、着用者の体に面する
部材の側面は、部材の参照符号及び参照文字Ａによって
指定する。着用者の下着に面する側面は、部材の数及び
文字Ｂによって指定する。側面及び端部縁部は、部材の
参照数字と文字Ｃ及びＤによって指定する。） 適当なトップシート28は織物、及び不織材料、開口が
形成された熱可塑性フィルム、開口プラスティックフィ
ルム、ヒドロ成形フィルム（hydro−formed films）、
多孔性発泡体、網状発泡体、網状熱可塑性フィルム及び
熱可塑性綿布を含む広範な材料で製造されるが、それに
は制限されない。トップシート28に使用する織物及び不
織材料は、天然繊維（例えば、木または木綿繊維）、合
成繊維（例えば、ポリエステル、ポリプロピレン繊維及
びポリエチレン、またはポリビニールアルコール、澱粉
ベース樹脂、ポリウレタン、セルロースエステル、ナイ
ロン及びレーヨン繊維）または天然及び合成繊維の組み
合わせから製造される。トップシート28ととして有孔フ
ィルムが好ましい。なぜならば、それらは液体を透過
し、適切に開口を有するならば、その液体が逆に戻り着
用者の皮膚を再び濡らす傾向が減少するからである。
適当に形成されたフィルムは次の米国特許に開示され
ている。1975年12月30日にトンプソンに発行された米国
特許第3,929,135号,1982年４月13にトラーネ等に発行さ
れた米国特許第4,324,426号,1982年８月３日にラデル等
に発行された米国特許第4,342,314号、1984年７月31日
にアー等に発行された米国特許第4,463,045号及び1991
年４月９日にバードに発行された米国特許第5,006,394
号である。追加的に適切に形成されたヒドロ成形フィル
ムは、クーロ等に発行された米国特許第4,609,518号、
4,629,743号、4,695,422号,4,772,444号,4,778,644号及
びクーロ等に発行された4,839,216号，オーレッテ等に
発行された米国特許第4,637,819号に開示されている。
他の実施例において、トップシート28は、プラスティッ
クフィルムに重なる不織布材料を有する。このようなト
ップシートは、1991年11月19日にアジズ等によって出願
された米国特許出願第07/794,745号にさらに詳細に説明
されている。トップシートとして使用する上でさらに他
の材料として適当なものは、1988年、10月４日にハギー
等に発行された米国特許第5,023,124号、1991年６月11
日にコバヤシに発行された米国特許第5,023,124号及び
スダ等の名において1989年３月１日に発行されたヨーロ
ッパ特許出願0304617A2に開示されている。
（第７図に示すように）他の実施例において、トップ
シート28は、繊維がもつれたフィルムを有する。用語の
「繊維がもつれたフィルム」は、それらの開口部及びそ
の周りでもつれた繊維を有する開口フィルムを言う。こ
のようなトップシートの開口フィルムは、上述したフィ
ルムまたは綿布を有する。このフィルムは、機械的に、
または熱機械的にもつれた不織繊維42′を有する。繊維
は、コアに面する側面28Bの方向からまたはそれに沿っ
てもつれるのがよい。繊維がもつれたトップシート材料
28は、開口フィルム27と不織繊維42′の間でさらに緊密
に接触を行う。これは、フィルムを通って繊維42′及び
吸収体コア32または獲得層34まで液体の移動を改良する
利点を有する。また、フィルム27は、下に配置されたも
つれた繊維42′から分かれずフィルム27が着用者の体の
裂け目に移動しないから着用感が改良される。
他の好ましい実施例において（第８図参照）、生理用
ナプキン20は、それを着用したとき、伸長可能な（すな
わち、特に、長手方向に引き伸ばすことができる部材を
有する）。好ましくは、生理用ナプキン20は、伸びない
長さにおける約15％と約40％との間で伸長可能である。
この伸長性は、使用中のよりよい適合、着用者の下着へ
の取り付けの支持、着心地及び汚れを低減することがで
きるようにする。他の実施例において、生理用ナプキン
20の部材の制限された部分のみが伸長することができ
る。
第８図に示す実施例において、使用するトップシート
28の１つのタイプは、米国特許第4,463,045号に従って
つくることができ、長手方向の伸長性の度合いによっ
て、それを製造することができるリングロールを提供す
る。リングローリングまたは「予備波形部分」は、1978
年８月15日にシソンに発行された米国特許第4,107,364
号,1989年５月30日にサベーに発行された米国特許第4,8
34,741号，次のPCT特許出願のすべて、1992年９月17
日、ジェラルドM.ウエーバー等の名で発行された公開公
報WO92/25444号，ケネス.B.ブエル等の名称で発行され
たWO92/15446号,1992年９月17日にM.ウエーバー等の名
で公開されたWO92/15445号に公開されている。トップシ
ートの波形の折線は、トップシートが長手方向に伸長可
能なように、横断方向に配置されなければならない。こ
のようなトップシートは、1991年７月23日に出願された
米国特許出願，トンプソン等による出願された米国07/7
34,392号，ブエンガー等により出願された07/734,405号
に詳細に開示されている。これらの後の特許出願は、ま
とめて「毛細孔繊維」特許出願と称する。
さらに、本発明の好ましい実施例において、トップシ
ート28の少なくとも一部を表面活性剤で処理する。これ
は、当業者によく知られた通常の技術で達成することが
できる。トップシートを表面活性剤で処理する適当な方
法は、オズボーンに発行された米国特許第4,950,264
号，及び5,009,653号及び1991年９月19日にアジズによ
って出願された米国特許第07/794,745号に開示されてい
る。この後者の特許出願は、表面活性剤で不織／開口熱
可塑性成形材料フィルムのトップシートを処理すること
を開示している。表面活性剤は、熱可塑性成形フィルム
を形成するために使用される樹脂と組み合わせることが
好ましい。
表面活性剤でトップシート28を処理することは、トッ
プシート28の表面をさらに親水性にする。これは、液体
が、トップシートを処理しない場合よりも、トップシー
ト28により迅速に浸透することになる。これは、体液が
トップシート28を通って流れないで、トップシート28か
ら流れ出る可能性を小さくする。
B.獲得層 獲得層（または、獲得／配分層または獲得シート）34
を第２図に示す。それは、トップシート28と吸収体コア
32（の少なくとも一部）の間に配置されている。
第２図に示す実施例において、獲得層34は、不織材料
の折られたシートである。しかしながら、獲得層34は折
られたシートである必要はないことを理解すべきであ
る。ここに使用するような用語の「層」または「ウエ
ブ」は、一枚の折られないシート、折られたシート、ス
トリップ材料、結合されない、または結合繊維、複数の
層または材料の薄層、またはこのような材料の他の組み
合わせを含むが、それに制限されない。これら２つの用
語は、一枚の折られないシートまたは材料のシートであ
るがそれには制限されない。
第２図において、獲得層34は、「２重」にＺ形に折ら
れたシートである。詳細に言えば、このシート24は、生
理用ナプキンを横断ラインに沿って切断するとき、折ら
れたシートの左半分は、断面で反転した「ｚ」形状であ
り、右半分は「ｚ」形状のように見えるように折られて
いる。好ましくは、シート34は、平面図で矩形のストリ
ップとして見える上方部分54を有するように折ることが
好ましい。このような折られた構成は、ビスチャ等によ
って1990年10月29日に出願された米国特許出願第07/60
5,583号に詳細に説明されている。
第３図は、生理用ナプキン20の部材の他の構成を示
す、第２図のものと同じ簡単な断面図である。第３図に
おいて、獲得層34は、コア32の上面に分かれた層が配置
されているのではなく、薄層吸収体コア32構造体の上層
を形成する１つの層（または部材）である。
獲得層34は、吸収体コア32上に、またはその中への浸
透を改良するように作用する。獲得層34及びトップシー
ト28の組み合わせは、オズボーンに発行された米国特許
第4,950,264号及ば5,009,653号に詳細に説明された向上
した噴出獲得性及び掃引獲得性を備えた生理用ナプキン
を形成する（従って、獲得層34は、掃引獲得シートと称
される）。
獲得層34は、いくつかの特性を有しなければならな
い。獲得層34は、液体浸透性を有しなければならない。
獲得層34は、柔らかい、柔軟な感じで使用者の皮膚に刺
激を与えないものが好ましい。それは、オスボーンに付
与された上述した特許に開示されたような排出物を拡散
することができる材料からつくられる。この材料は、そ
れらに結合されるトップシート28を有することが好まし
い。また、この獲得層34は、伸長性を備えていてもよ
い。獲得層34は、体に面する面（または側）34Aと、下
着に面する面（側）34Bとを有する。
獲得層34は、親水性でなければならない。獲得層34を
有する繊維またはヤーン42は、元来親水性である。他の
例として、それらを親水性であるように処理する。繊維
を親水性にする適当な方法は、それらを表面活性剤で処
理することを含む。この繊維は、獲得層を有する材料を
表面活性剤でスプレーするか、または材料を表面活性剤
に含浸することによって処理する。このような処理及び
親水性の詳細な説明は、レイジング等及びレイジングに
付与されら米国特許第4,988,344号及び4,988,345号に含
まれる。これらの繊維の親水性は、獲得層34が、トップ
シート28を通る液体排出層34を下から引くことができる
ようにする。
獲得層34は、織物材料または不織布材料から製造され
る。これらの材料は、合成材料、または一部が合成材料
で一部が天然材料であってもよい。適当な合成繊維は、
ポリエステル、ポリプロピレン、ナイロン、ビスコース
レーヨン繊維またはセルロースアセテートを含むが、ポ
リエステル繊維が好ましい。適切な天然繊維は、木綿、
セルロースまたは他の天然繊維を含む。また、獲得層34
は、少なくとも一部がクロスリンクされたセルロース繊
維から形成される。適当なクロスリンクセルロース繊維
は、1989年12月19日にクック等に発行された米国特許第
4,888,093号、ディーン等に1989年４月18日に発行され
た米国特許第4,822,543号、1989年12月26日に発行され
た米国特許第4,889,595号、1990年２月６日にモーレ等
に発行された米国特許第4,898,642号、1990年１月19日
にラッシュ等に発行された米国特許第4,935,022号に開
示されている。また、獲得層34は、毛細孔繊維（すなわ
ち、好ましくはそれらの外面に、中に形成された孔を有
する繊維）を有する。このような繊維は、1990年10月10
日に発行されたEPO特許出願0391,814号、及び毛細孔繊
維特許出願に詳細に開示されている。また、獲得層34
は、吸収体コアに使用するために以下に説明するものと
同じ繊維の混合体のような上述した材料の組み合わせ、
他の等価材料または材料の組み合わせを有する。
獲得層34の繊維42は、、第１に１つの方向に向いてい
ることが好ましい。典型的には、獲得層34は、機械方向
（MD）を向いた繊維によって製造することができる。獲
得層34は、大部分が長手方向を向いた繊維42を有する製
品に配置することができる。（すなわち、繊維42は、生
理用ナプキン20の長手方向の中央線に平行である）。こ
こに使用する用語（及び同様なフレーズ）の長手方向の
中央線に「ほぼ平行な」は、長手方向の中央線から離れ
た角度の繊維を含むことを意図する。これらの繊維は、
横方向よりさらに長手方向を向いている限りほぼ平行で
あると考慮される。獲得層34の繊維42の向きは、獲得層
34に配置された液体排出物を所望なように浸透させ、吸
収体コア32の端部32Dに向かって配分する。
獲得層34は、適切な大きさを有する。この獲得層34
は、吸収体コアの幅全体には伸びない。例えば、獲得層
34は、第１図及び第２図に示したｚ形に折られたシート
の上方部分54と同様に配置された（及び同じ大きさの）
ストリップ形である。もし不織布であるならば、獲得層
34は、多数の異なる処理によって製造される。これら
は、溶融吹き付け、スパンボンド、カードを含むがそれ
には制限されず、後者で、好ましいのは、熱結合、スル
ーエア結合、粉末結合、ラテックス結合、用材結合また
はスパンレース処理を含む。後者の処理が好ましい。な
ぜならば、それは、このような処理において一方向に繊
維を向けることが容易であるからである。
１つの好ましい実施例において、獲得層34は、永久的
に濡れている繊維を有するスパンレース不織ウエブを有
する。好ましくは、獲得層34は、30g/ヤード２（35g/m
2）である。このタイプのスパンレース織物は、マサチ
ューセッツ州ワールポールのベルテック社によって製造
されている。このスパンレースの不織ウエブは、繊維の
大部分が一方向を向くように形成されている。好ましい
獲得層34の繊維は、PET樹脂であり、CELWETとして知ら
れる永久に濡れる特性を有するようにコートされる。こ
のような繊維は、ノースカロライナ州シャーロッテのホ
イステセラニーズ社から入手できる。CELWETの完成品
は、ヒドロエンタングル不織繊維を有する開口フィルム
または麻布を有するトップシート28を有する生理用ナプ
キンに使用することが特に好ましい。なぜならば、それ
によってコートされた繊維は、ヒドロエンタングル処理
の後、血液がよく浸透する前に、親水性を非常によく残
すようになっている。
トップシート28は、獲得層34に接触するように固定さ
れている。この関係は、液体がトップシート28をより迅
速に通過するようにする。従来の製品において、トップ
シート28は、最初は、下層及びトップシート28との間に
接着剤を適用することによって下層に接触するように維
持される。
図面の第１図乃至第３図の実施例において、トップシ
ート28は、トップシート28と獲得層34とを溶融結合する
ことによって下の獲得層34に対面する関係に接続され
る。トップシート28と獲得層34の面は生理用ナプキンの
主本体21にある各面の部分に結合され、この各面の部分
は、生理用ナプキン20の周縁部26の周りのシーム64のよ
うな液体不透過シームの内側にある。（用語の「内側」
の意味は、長手方向及び横方向の中央ラインに向かうこ
とを意味する。） トップシート28と獲得層34の結合は、熱及び／または
圧力結合、超音波結合、動的な機械結合及びそれと同様
なものによって達成される。圧力は、反対に回転するロ
ールの間に２つの部材を移動し、アンビル上に材料を配
置し、材料上でプラテンを下側に押し、真空圧及びそれ
と同様なものを適用することによって圧力を適当な方法
で加える事ができる。
トップシート28を獲得層34に結合する場合に使用する
ようになっている適切な手段は、少なくともいくつかの
次の特許、すなわち、シェーファー米国特許第4,430,14
8号、キーヴィト等の米国特許第4,515,595号、パーソン
の米国特許第4,531,999号、ラッシュ等の米国特許第4,7
10,189号及び4,808,252号、ウイルハイトJr等の米国特
許第4,823,783号、及びバル等に発行された米国特許第
4,854,984号に開示されている。
好ましくは、溶融結合は、個々の溶融結合部のパター
ンを有する。個々の結合部44は、平面形状である。例え
ば、結合部は、直線または湾曲線、円形、矩形、三角
形、六角形及びそれと同様なもの、または不規則な形状
である。結合部44は多数の異なる方法で配置される。
第１図は、好ましい結合パターンを示す。溶融結合部
44は、円形の結合部を有する異なる取り付け点を有す
る。結合部44は、生理用ナプキンの主本体部分21の完全
な本体面20A上に配分されている。（主本体部分21は、
フラップが伸びている生理用ナプキンの部分である。第
１図に示す結合パターンは、複数の大きい結合部44Aと
複数の小さい結合部44Bを有する。大きな結合部44Aは、
生理用ナプキンの長手方向の中心領域46に位置してい
る。小さい結合部44Bは、生理用ナプキンの長手方向の
側方領域48に位置している。
また、トップシート28及び獲得層34（または他の下
層）は、他の適当な取り付け手段またはこのような他の
手段及び上述した手段の組み合わせによって少なくとも
一部が固定される。また、トップシート28及び獲得層34
は、接着剤のような従来技術によって少なくとも一部が
固定される。
もし、接着剤を使用するならば、接着剤を接着剤が一
様な連続的な層、パターン化層、または分かれた線の配
列、螺旋または点になるように適用することができる。
好ましくは、接着剤の取り付けは、1986年３月４日にミ
ネトラ等に発行された米国特許第4,573,986号に開示さ
れているような接着剤フィラメントの開放パターンネッ
トワーク、または1975年10月７日にスプレーグに発行さ
れた米国特許第3,911,173号、1978年11月27日にツエイ
カーに発行された米国特許第4,785,996号、1989年１月2
7日にウエレニックに発行された米国特許第4,842,666号
に示される装置及び方法によって説明されるような螺旋
パターンに巻かれた接着性フィラメントのいくつかの線
を有するフィラメントの開放パターンネットワークを有
する。適当な接着剤は、ウイスコンシン州FLMグローブ
のフィンドレイアドヘッシブ社によって製造されてい
る。
他の実施例において、トップシート28及び獲得層34
は、機械及び熱化快適に縮れを形成することによって少
なくとも部分的に取り付けられる。
C.吸収体コア 吸収体コアは、トップシート28とバックシート30の間
に配置されている。吸収体コア32は、メンス液体及び体
からの他の排出物を吸収する手段を提供する。吸収体コ
ア32は、通常、少なくともわずかに圧縮性がある（しか
し、好ましくは、収縮しない）、使用者の皮膚に対して
快適で、非刺激性である。
本発明に使用される吸収体コア32は、「混合」コアと
称される。この特定のコアの構成は、薄い製品に使用す
る薄いウエブとして、第１図乃至第３図に、比較的厚い
生理用ナプキン20に使用するウエブとして第４図乃至第
６図に示す。混合吸収体コア32は、繊維の一様な混合体
の形態の繊維のバット（batt）を有する。混合コア32
は、少なくとも２つのグループ（タイプ］の繊維を有す
る。これらは小さいデニールの、比較的短い親水性繊維
の第１のグループ（またはタイプ）を有する。第２のグ
ループ（またはタイプ）の繊維は、約５％の、好ましく
は、少なくとも約10乃至20％から約90％の大きなデニー
ルの長い湿気感応合成繊維を有する。２つのグループの
繊維の混合比は、異なるタイプの吸収製品にとって望ま
しい特性を生じるように変化する。（この説明に特定さ
れるすべての割合は、他に断らない限り重量による割合
である。） 第１のグループの繊維は、木綿のような天然繊維を有
するか、または（エアフェルトのような細かくされた木
のパルプの形態であるセルロース）である。第１のグル
ープの繊維は、PET、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、
レーヨン、化学熱機械パルプ（または「CTMPまたはTM
P」）、グラウンドウッド、またはクロスリンクセルロ
ース繊維のような化学的に変形された繊維を含むが、そ
れには制限されない。繊維の第１のグループの繊維は、
元来親水性であるか、またはそれらを親水性にするよう
に前述したような方法でそれらを処理することによって
親水性とすることができる。
第１のグループの繊維が濡れるときに、その圧縮抵抗
の実質的な部分を維持する比較的堅い繊維を選択するこ
とによって性能が改良される。（すなわち、繊維は、高
い圧縮率を有しなければならない。）好ましくは、選択
された繊維は、濡れた状態及び乾燥状態の双方において
圧縮抵抗があり、濡れ弾性及び乾燥弾性がある（すなわ
ち、それらは、圧縮したときに、圧縮に抵抗して弾性で
戻る傾向がある。）特に、クロスリンクセルロース繊維
は、これらの基準に特に好ましい。（しかしながら、ク
ロスリンクセルロース繊維は、それらがそれ自身、もは
や合成または天然繊維として考慮されないように十分に
変形されることを理解すべきである。） 第２のグループの繊維は、濡れたとき、高い圧縮率を
有しなければならず、また比較的高い率を維持しなけれ
ばならない。繊維の第２のグループは、好ましくは、濡
れ弾性及び乾燥弾性を有しなければならない。適当な繊
維は、獲得層34の繊維として使用するに適した上述した
材料を含むが、それには制限されない。（しかしなが
ら、繊維の長さ、デニール等は、同じでなくともよい。
いくつかの好ましい繊維の長さ等は、以下に説明す
る。） 第２のグループの繊維は、第１のグループの繊維より
も長いこといが好ましい。好ましくは、第２のグループ
の繊維は、約1/4インチ（約0.6cm）の長さ以上であり、
好ましくは、約1/2インチ（約1.3cm）の長さがさらに好
ましい。第２のグループの繊維のデニールは、第１のグ
ループの繊維のデニールより大きいことが好ましい。好
ましくは、第２のグループの繊維は、約４乃至4.5と約5
0乃至60、または約６と約40の間のフィラメント毎のデ
ニールを有する。特に好ましいのは、デニールは、約12
または約30の間、特に好ましいのは、約12及び約25であ
る。
第２のグループの繊維は、湿気不感応型である。すな
わち、このグループの繊維は、湿気の存在によっては余
り影響を受けない（従って、濡れたときに収縮しな
い）。しかしながら、これらの繊維は、その表面に沿っ
て液体を搬送する。第２のグループの繊維は、親水性、
疎水性または一部が親水性及び一部が疎水性である。第
２のグループの繊維は、（セルロース部材である）少な
くともある親水性部材を有することが好ましい。第２の
グループの繊維は、多数の適当な方法で、親水性部材を
備えている。これらは、繊維の少なくともその表面を親
水性にするようにコーティングするか、または処理する
ことを含むが、それに制限されない。
第２のグループの繊維に使用する合成繊維の１つの他
のタイプは、縮れたポリエステル繊維である。他の適当
な合成繊維は、KODEL200及び400シリーズのPET繊維とし
てイーストマンコダック社のデキスタイル繊維部門のキ
ングスポートから市販されている。１つの適当なタイプ
の合成バインダ繊維は、KODEL410繊維である。適当なポ
リエステル繊維は、KODEL431繊維である。これらのKODE
L繊維は、直線で１インチ（すなわち2.5cm）毎に、約５
と７、好ましくは、約６さらに好ましくは、6.3の間の
縮れ頻度で縮れていることが望ましい。この繊維は、約
70゜と約91゜の間の縮れ角度で縮れることが好ましい。
縮れは、他の所望の特性の間で改良された弾性を備えた
繊維を提供する。繊維はフィラメント毎に15デニールを
有し、0,5インチ（約1.3cm）の長さを有する。それら
は、従来知られた適切な方法によって仕上げられた親水
性または疎水性を有するようにコートされる。
他の実施例において、第１のグループの繊維の天然繊
維を（親水性表面を有する）非常に短い、低いデニール
の合成繊維と置き換えることができる。この状態の混合
体コア32は、短い、低いデニールの（CELWET仕上げのポ
リエステルのような）親水性の第１のグループの合成繊
維から成る。
このような混合体コアは、コアの吸収能力を増大する
ためにヒドロゲル形成ポリマーゲル剤の粒子を含む。
吸収体コア32に使用されるポリマーゲル剤は、ヒドロ
ゲル形成ポリマーゲル剤の粒子を含む。ここに使用する
ような用語の「粒子」は、ペレット、フレークまたは繊
維形態の粒子を称する。ここで使用するポリマー材料の
好ましいタイプの特性及びこれらのポリマー粒子を準備
するために使用される方法のタイプは、ワイズマン等に
発行された米国特許第4,673,402号、オズボーンに発行
された米国特許第5,009,653号に詳細に開示されてい
る。
１つの好ましい実施例において、ヒドロゲル形成ポリ
マーゲル剤は、「高速」吸収ゲル材料を有する。ここで
使用する用語の「高速」吸収ゲル材料は、約10秒以下で
それらの能力の少なくとも約40％，好ましくは、少なく
とも約50％，及び最も好ましくは、少なくとも約90％に
達する速度で排出物を吸収することができる吸収ゲル材
料を意味する。能力の百分率における適当な方法は、19
91年１月３日にノエル等によって出願された米国特許出
願第07/637,090号及び1992年２月23日にフェノスト等に
よって公開された国際公開WO92/11831号に開示されてい
る。他の実施例において、高速吸収ゲル材料を他の適当
なタイプ（または通常の速度の）吸収ゲル材料と混合す
ることも可能である。
好ましくは、直前に説明した実施例において、高速吸
収ゲル材料は、繊維形態である。（必ずしも高速繊維吸
収ゲル材料を通らない）このような繊維は、1989年８月
８日にブーランド等に発行された米国特許第4,885,179
号に完全に開示される。個々に使用する用語の「繊維吸
収ゲル材料」は、完全な吸収ゲル材料及び２重の部材の
繊維を有する繊維の形態の吸収ゲル材料を含み、これら
の繊維は、少なくともその一部が吸収ゲル材料でコート
された表面を有する他の材料を有する。適当な繊維吸収
ゲル材料は、日本の東大阪の蝶理社から商標名ランシー
ルＦで市販されているアクリル繊維材料と、ハーキュレ
イ社から商標名アクアロンＣで市販されているアクリル
繊維材料とを含む。適当な高速繊維吸収ゲル材料は、ペ
ンシルバニヤ州ニュートンスクエアのアルコケミカル社
によって製造されるFIBERSORBSA7000またばSA7200とし
て知られている。
ヒドロ形成ポリマーゲル剤の有効な使用は、ブレンド
コアを改良する。高濃度のヒドロゲル形成ポリマーゲル
剤を使用することも可能である。
混合体吸収体コア32は、少なくとも約1.5g/立法イン
チ（約0.09g/cm3）の密度まで圧縮することが好まし
い。混合されたコア32は、良好な柔軟性及び可撓性を維
持する間に流体の浸透を改良するために少なくとも約4.
0g/立方インチ（約0.25g/cm3）程の濃度まで圧縮され
る。（上述したように特定された密度値は、吸収ゲル材
料の粒子の重量を含まない。） 混合吸収体コア32は、約0.35g/cm3から約0.40g/cm3程
の高い密度まで圧縮される。しかしながら、これらの高
密度のコアはむしろ堅くなる。従って、コアが約0.35g/
cm3から約0.40g/cm3の密度まで圧縮されるならば、それ
を使用するために配置する前に、それをさらに柔軟にす
るために機械的に柔軟にするか、または操作することが
好ましい。
圧縮は、吸収体コア32全体に行われるか、または選択
部分にのみ適用される。パターン化された圧縮は、特定
の必要性における流体の処理特性の設計を可能にする。
例えば、密度は、流体獲得速度を最大限にするために、
流体目標領域において非常に低く、流体の移動を最大限
にするためにコアの縁部近傍で非常に大きい。
特に好ましい実施例において、改良された吸収体コア
32は、ほぼ15％のフィラメント毎の0.5インチ（1.27c
m）長さ、15デニールのクリンプポリエステル繊維及び
約85％のクロスリンクセルロース繊維からなる。ポリエ
ステル繊維は、直線的なインチ（すなわち、2.5cmにお
いて）約６個の縮れ頻度で縮れていることが好ましい。
繊維は約90゜の縮れ角度で縮れていることが好ましい。
コア32は、約1g/立方インチ（約0.06g/cm3）の密度まで
圧縮されることが好ましい。
吸収体コア32は、追加的にコアに強度を与えるために
ラテックスを噴霧する。ラテックスはコアの一方の面ま
たは双方の面に噴霧することによって行われる。この目
的のために、適当な１つのラテックスはフィラデルフィ
ア州のローム＆ハス社から市販されているTR520として
知られている。ラテックスは、それがクロスリンクまた
は硬化するまで加熱される。
また、吸収体コア32は、液体を受けるコアの性能を増
大するために（すなわち、コアに液体を搬送するため、
またそのコアを通すために）表面活性剤で処理する。こ
れは、コアが高密度の合成（例えば、ポリエステル）繊
維を有するときに、特に有効である。適当な表面活性剤
は、PEGOSPERSE200ML及びPLURONICL92として市場で知ら
れているものを含む。この表面活性剤は、適切な方法で
加えられる。好ましくは、表面活性剤は、吸収体コアの
体に面する側32Aに噴霧することによって適用される。
第９図は、間にリブ72を有する複数の間隔を置いた圧
縮領域70を備えている。このリブ72は、ほぼ長手方向を
向いていることが好ましい。圧縮領域70は、ウエブを圧
縮するために適当な処理によって形成することができ
る。コア32は、圧縮領域70とリブ72の間に密度差を有す
る。第９図に示すコア32は、その中に特定される密度に
圧縮される少なくとも１つの領域（すなわち、圧縮領域
70またはリブ72）を有しなければならない。好ましく
は、双方の領域は、ここに特定した密度範囲にある。
混合体吸収体コア32は、全体的なコアとして使用する
ことができるか、または層構造の中の１つまたはそれ以
上の層として使用することができる。混合された吸収体
コア32は、獲得層34を有するか、または有せずに使用す
ることができる。
第４図乃至第６図は、コア材料の層を、「輪郭」を有
する生理用ナプキンを製造するように使用する、コア32
の一例を示す。輪郭を有する生理用ナプキン20は、生理
用ナプキンの中心において厚く、縁部22及び24に向かっ
て薄くなる。第５図及び第６図は、輪郭を有する生理用
ナプキン20を、短い長さ及び幅を有するナプキンの上層
に、比較的長い長さ及び幅の大きさを有する層を張り付
けることによって作ることを示す。
層構造において、１つまたはそれ以上の層は、すべて
がセルロースまたはセルロース／ヒドロゲル形成ポリマ
ー材料混合体から製造することができる。この層は、異
なる繊維及び／または吸収ゲル材料を有する。追加的な
液体収容能力を提供するために、例えば、高い割合の吸
収ゲル材料が下層に設けられる。
混合体吸収体コア32は、性能を向上させると考慮され
る。混合体吸収体コアは、改良された流体獲得速度及び
吸収性能を改良する。これらの改良点は、漏れを減少す
ることである。また、吸収体コアは、さらに小さく薄く
製造され、品物を着用するのにさらに快適にする。コア
の強度は、長く縮れた合成繊維によって改良される。こ
れらの改良特性は、多数の要因によるものと考慮され
る。
複合した吸収体コアは、セルロース全体からなるコア
よりも小さい濡れ密度を有する。低い濡れ密度は、合成
繊維の存在から生じる。水は合成繊維には吸収されない
から、繊維の係数は、濡れたときに変化せず、それらは
収縮しない。セルロース繊維が濡れることによって、こ
れらの繊維の繊維対繊維の水素結合を放出する。低い濡
れ密度は、改良された獲得速度及び高い吸収性能を備え
た混合体吸収体コアを提供する。低い濡れ密度は、膨張
するポリマー材料の余地がさらにあるから、繊維マトリ
クスに含まれるヒドロゲル形成ポリマー材料が大量の液
体を吸収することができるようにする。
第１のグループの繊維は、漏れを減少する補助とな
る。この混合体コアは、多数の小さい毛管を形成し、そ
のコアは、第２のグループの繊維を有しないように使用
するに適当であるタイプの100％の繊維からなる。これ
らの小さい毛管は、トップシートを通り、コアが着用者
の皮膚から離すように液体を引っ張ることができるよう
にする。これは、トップシートの表面及び着用者の皮膚
の表面に沿って流れることによって製品から出ることが
できる流体量を少なくすることによって漏れ性能を改良
する。
混合体コアの第１のグループの繊維は、搬送能力を形
成する。この能力は、上述した小さい毛管から生じる。
この毛管は、コアの密度を高くすることによって向上さ
れる。セルロースは、コアが、乾燥時に高い密度で維持
されるようにすることができ、それは純粋な合成物によ
っては通常達成することはできない。合成繊維の存在に
よって、濡れているコアの部分を膨張させることができ
る。これは、これらの濡れた部分の密度を小さくする。
いまだに乾燥している隣接した密度領域は、高い密度を
有する。これは、小さい毛管を有するこれらの隣接した
乾燥領域を形成する。液体は、その結果、これらの隣接
領域に流れようとする。これは、吸収性能及び獲得速度
を維持し、生理用ナプキンの表面を乾燥させる。
縮れた合成繊維は、コアに改良された圧縮抵抗及び弾
性を与える。この弾性は、液体がコアに吸収された後、
圧力がコアに加えられた後であってもコアの中に有効な
空間を維持する。この有効空間は、吸収された液体の追
加的な貯蔵空間を形成する。また、液体を取り込んだ後
に、吸収ゲル材料が膨張することができる追加的な空間
を提供する。
吸収体コア32は、吸収製品の技術分野で使用される他
のタイプの材料を追加的に有することができる。適切な
追加的なコア材料の例は、縮れたセルロースワッディン
グ、ピートモス等、または等価材料または材料の組み合
わせを含む。
他のタイプの吸収体コアの特性は、ここに言及するこ
とによって組み込まれた特許及び書類に詳細に開示され
ている。追加的な特性は、これらの書類における参照に
よって組み込まれた特許及び他の書類に開示されてい
る。これらの文献のすべての内容はここに組み込まれて
いる。さらに、他の適切な吸収体コアの構成は、米国特
許第4,988,344号及び4,988,345号及びデュンク等により
1989年10月22日に刊行されたヨーロッパ特許出願公開公
報0198683号に開示されている。他の可能性のあるコア
材料32は、1984年10月９日にゲレットに発行された米国
特許第4,475,911号に開示されている。
生理用ナプキン（または他の吸収製品料20）は、言及
によって組み込まれた特許に開示されたような追加的な
層または他の部材を有する。例えば、吸収製品は、トッ
プシート28と吸収体コア32との間に配置された獲得層ま
たはクロスリンクセルロース繊維のパッチを有する。
D.バックシート バックシート30は、液体に対して不透過性てある。バ
ックシート30はメンス液及び他の体の排出物が使用者の
衣服を汚すことを防止するように作用する。この目的の
ために技術分野で使用する材料は、それに利用すること
ができる。適切な材料は、エンボスまたは非エンボス加
工されたポリエチレンフィルム及び薄いティッシュを含
む。適当なポリエチレンフィルムは、フィルムNo.8020
の商標名として取引されているモンサントケミカル社に
よって製造される。
（典型的には、トップシート28が主本体部分21にのみ
重なり、米国特許第5,007,906号に開示されているよう
なフラップ36の上面を形成するように延びていない）生
理用ナプキン20の他の実施例において、バックシート30
は２層を有する。このようなケースの場合に、バックシ
ート30はバックシートのコア面側30Aを形成するロフト
材の第１の層を有する。第１の層の目的は、使用者の体
に対して快適で、非刺激性の表面を形成することであ
る。ロフト層は、不織材料のような適当な材料からな
る。好ましくは、ロフト材料は、疎水性の不織材料から
成る。第２の層は、バックシート30の下着の下着側30B
に配置され、流体不透過性フィルムを有する。この第２
の層として厚さが約0.01乃至約0.05ミリメートルの小さ
い密度のポリエチレン材料がよく機能することが分かっ
た。モデルXP−39385の名称でエチル社、ビスクイーン
部門によって販売されているポリエチレンフィルムは、
この第２の層に特によく適していることが分かった。ま
たバックシート30は、トップシート28に関して疎水性の
柔らかい布のような材料でつくってもよい。ポリエステ
ルまたはポリオレフィン繊維のバックシート30がよく機
能することいが分かった。特に好ましい柔らかい、布の
ようなバックシート30は、ポリエステル不織材料の薄層
及び1984年10月９日にウンクに発行された米国特許第4,
476,180号に開示されている。
他の実施例において、バックシート30は伸長可能であ
る。特に好ましい伸長性バックシート30は、ウイスコン
シン州ワウワトサのフィンドレイアドヘシブ社によって
製造されている接着剤フィルムフォーミュラ＃198−338
であり、これは毛細孔繊維特許出願に詳細に説明されて
いる。
第１図乃至第２図に示すように、トップシート28は接
着剤20の周縁部26の周りのシーム64に沿ってバックシー
ト30に固定されることが好ましい。シーム64は、糊付
け、クリンピングまたは溶融によって、この目的のため
にこの技術分野で通常使用されている手段によって形成
される。これは製造を容易にするために好ましい。（種
々のエレメントを結合する他の手段も使用することがで
きる。）例えば、他の可能性のある実施例は、吸収体コ
アをバックシートに配置する前に、吸収体コア32を基本
的に完全に包むものを含む。また、生理用ナプキン20
は、スタンドアロンに対する十分な完全性を所有し、他
の表面を液体不透過性にするように処理する間に一方の
表面で液体透過性である吸収体コアを有する。
第１図及び第２図は、生理用ナプキン20を下着の股の
部分に固定するようになっている接着剤固定手段38のよ
うな固定具を示す。適当な接着固定具は米国特許第4,91
7,697号にさらに詳細に説明されている。
本発明により使用される固定具は、接着取り付け手段
には制限されない。このような目的のために技術分野で
使用される他のタイプの固定具を使用することができ
る。例えば、生理用ナプキン20は、1990年８月７日にバ
ットレルに発行された「圧力感応接着固定具及びそれを
製造する方法」と題された米国特許第4,946,527号に開
示された固定具によって着用者の下着に固定してもよ
い。
接着剤固定手段38は参照符号40によって指示する取り
外し可能なリリースライナによってカバーされる。圧力
感応接着剤は、使用前に接着剤が付着表面に張り付くこ
とを防ぐためにリリースライナ40によってカバーしなけ
ればならない。適当なリリースライナは、米国特許第4,
917,697号に開示されている。生理用ナプキンのパッケ
ージとして及び生理用ナプキンの接着剤として作用する
適切なラッパーは、1985年12月３日にスワントン等に発
行された米国特許第4,556,146号に開示されている。
3.他の実施例 本発明のいくつかの好ましい生理用ナプキンの実施例
を説明したが、種々の他のタイプの生理用ナプキンが有
効であり、説明により開示される。これらは本発明の熔
融層を具備している。これらの生理用ナプキンは、1981
年８月25日にマクネールに発行された米国特許第4,285,
343号、1986年５月20日にバンチルバーグまた1987年８
月18日にそれぞれ発行された米国特許第4,589,876号及
び4,687,478号、1990年４月17日及び1991年４月16日に
それぞれ発号されたオスボーン等に発行された米国特許
第4,950,264号及び5,009,653号、1992年５月14日にビシ
ャー等によって発行されたPCT国際特許公開公報WO92/07
535において、また、オスボーン等によって1992年２月2
3日に出願された米国特許第07/915,133号に開示されて
いる。
用語の「パンティライナ」または「パンティーライ
ナ」は、月経期間に婦人によって着用される生理用ナプ
キンよりも小さい吸収製品を言う。ここに開示した混合
吸収体コアを具備したパンティライナの形の適切な吸収
製品は、1989年４月19日にオズボーンに発行された「パ
ンティライナ」と題した米国特許第4,738,676号に開示
されている。
用語の「失禁用具」は、それらが大人または他の失禁
する者によって着用されるかどうかに関係なく、吸収
剤、ブリーフ、ベッドパッド及びそれと同様なものの性
能ブースター、吸収製品用の挿入体、パッド、下着（ベ
ルトまたはそれと同様なもののような同じタイプの支持
装置によって所定位置に保持されるパッド）を言う。こ
こに説明した混合体吸収体コアを備えた適切な失禁用具
は、1981年３月３日にストリックランド等に発行された
米国特許第4,253,461号、ブエル等に発行された米国特
許第4,597,760号及び米国特許第4,597,761号、上述した
米国特許第4,704,115号、アール等に発行された米国特
許第4,909,802号、1990年10月23日にギブソンに発行さ
れた米国特許第4,964,860号、ノエル等に1991年１月３
日に出願された米国特許出願07/637,090号、1992年２月
23日にフェイストによって発行されたPCT国際出願の国
際公開公報WO92/11831号に開示されている。
用語の「おしめ」は、両脚の間に引き上げられ着用者
の腰の周りに固定される、幼時及び失禁する大人によっ
て着用される下着を言う。混合体吸収体コアを具備し
た、少なくともそのいくつかがおしめの形態である適当
な吸収製品は、1967年１月31日にダンカン等に発行され
た米国特許第26,152号、1975年１月14日にブエルに発行
された米国特許第3,860,003号、1986年９月９日にワイ
スマンに発行された米国特許第4,610,678号、1987年１
月16日にワイスマン等に発行された米国特許第4,673,40
2号、1987年９月22日にローソンに発行された米国特許
第4,695,278号、1987年11月３日にブエルに発行された
米国特許第4,704,115号、1989年５月30日にアレマニー
に発行された米国特許第4,834,735号、1989年12月19日
にアウグスタトに発行された米国特許第4,888,231号、1
990年３月20日にアジズ等に発行された米国特許第4,90
9,803号に開示されている。
すべての特許、特許出願（それに発行された特許、並
びに対応して公開された外国特許出願）及びこの説明に
わたって述べた刊行物はここに言及により組み込まれて
いる。しかしながら、ここに言及により組み込まれた書
類のいずれかが本発明を開示しているとは認められな
い。またここに説明した市販されている材料または製品
が本発明を示唆し開示しているとは認めがたい。

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】天然繊維、親水性合成繊維またはクロスリ
    ンクセルロース繊維のグループから選択された第１グル
    ープの繊維長が短かくデニール数が小さい親水性繊維と
    第１グループの繊維より繊維長が長くデニール数が大き
    い第２のグループのクリンプされた湿気不感応合成繊維
    を均一に混合した繊維を有し、第２グループの繊維は、
    吸収体コアの少なくとも５重量％有し、吸収体コアは、
    乾燥状態で少なくとも0.09g/cm3の密度に圧縮されてい
    ることを特徴とする吸収製品用吸収体コア。
  2. 【請求項２】吸収体コアに液体を堆積する時、吸収体コ
    アの液体を受ける部分が、その受ける部分を包囲する部
    分が濡れない間に濡らされ、前記濡れた部分は、濡れた
    時に膨張し、濡れない部分の密度が濡れた部分の密度よ
    り高い密度になるように、包囲する濡れない部分に対す
    る濡れた部分の密度を減少させ、吸収体コアは、隣接し
    た濡れない部分に液体を配分することを特徴とする請求
    項１に記載の吸収体コア。
  3. 【請求項３】液体透過性トップシートと、 トップシートに接合された液体不透過性バックシート
    と、 トップシートとバックシートとの間に位置される吸収体
    コアとを有し、 吸収体コアは、第１グループの繊維と第２のグループの
    繊維を均一に混合した繊維内に複数の吸収性ヒドロゲル
    形成材料粒子を有し、 第１グループの繊維は、天然繊維、親水性合成繊維また
    はクロスリンクセルロース繊維を有する親水性繊維のグ
    ループから選択され、繊維長が0.6cm以下でデニール数
    が６デニール以下で圧縮抵抗と湿りおよび乾燥弾性を有
    し、 第２グループの繊維は、湿気不感応ポリエステル繊維で
    あり、ヒドロゲル形成材料粒子を除いて吸収体コアの15
    重量％有し、繊維長が1.3cm以上でデニール数が15ない
    し25で、直線2.5cmのクリンプ数が５ないし７で、クリ
    ンプ角度が70゜ないし90゜で、圧縮抵抗と湿りおよび乾
    燥弾性を有し、 吸収体コアは、乾燥状態で0.09g/cm3と0.25g/cm3の間の
    密度に圧縮され、濡れた時に膨張することを特徴とする
    吸収製品。
  4. 【請求項４】液体透過性トップシートと、 トップシートに接合された液体不透過性バックシート
    と、 トップシートとバックシートとの間に位置される吸収体
    コアとを有し、 吸収体コアは、第１長さで第１デニール数の第１グルー
    プの繊維と第１長さより長く第１デニール数より大きい
    第２デニール数の第２グループの繊維とを均一に混合し
    た繊維を有し、 第１グループの繊維は、天然繊維、親水性合成繊維また
    はクロスリンクセルロース繊維を有する親水性繊維のグ
    ループから選択され、 第２グループの繊維は、クリンプされた湿気不感応合成
    繊維であり、吸収体コアの少なくとも５重量％有し、 吸収体コアは、乾燥状態で少なくとも0.09g/cm3の密度
    に圧縮され、濡れた時に膨張することを特徴とする吸収
    製品。
  5. 【請求項５】第１のグループの繊維は、綿繊維、セルロ
    ース繊維、エアフェルト、レーヨン、化学熱機械パル
    プ、細かくされた木及びクロスリンクセルロース繊維の
    少なくとも１つを有するグループから選択されることを
    特徴とする請求項４に記載の吸収製品。
  6. 【請求項６】第１のグループの繊維は、圧縮抵抗を有す
    ることを特徴とする請求項４に記載の吸収製品。
  7. 【請求項７】第１のグループの繊維は、湿りおよび乾燥
    弾性を有することを特徴とする請求項４または６に記載
    の吸収製品。
  8. 【請求項８】第１グループの繊維は、繊維長が0.6cm以
    下であることを特徴とする請求項４に記載の吸収製品。
  9. 【請求項９】第１グループの繊維は、デニール数が６以
    下の合成繊維フィラメントであることことを特徴とする
    請求項４に記載の吸収製品。
  10. 【請求項１０】第２のグループの繊維は、ポリエステ
    ル、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、ナイロン、ビスコ
    ースレーヨン、セルロースアセテートの少なくとも１つ
    の材料を有するグループから選択されることを特徴とす
    る請求項４に記載の吸収製品。
  11. 【請求項１１】第２グループの繊維は、毛管孔繊維を有
    することを特徴とする請求項４に記載の吸収製品。
  12. 【請求項１２】第２のグループの繊維は、圧縮抵抗を有
    することを特徴とする請求項４に記載の吸収製品。
  13. 【請求項１３】第２のグループの繊維は、湿りおよび乾
    燥弾性を有することを特徴とする請求項４または12に記
    載の吸収製品。
