この考案は、包丁をこの道具に差し込んで研ぐ角度を理想の角度である５度前後で安定させて、誰にでも簡単に研ぎやすくした道具である。This device is a tool that makes it easy for anyone to sharpen by inserting the knife into this tool and stabilizing the sharpening angle around 5 degrees, which is the ideal angle.

考案が解決しようとする課題Problems that the device tries to solve

これには次のような欠点があった。包丁を砥石で研ぐには同じ角度で刃先を研ぐのがむずかしく切れ味のいい包丁にはなかなかならなかった。又ロウラーを片側或いは両側に取り付けることはあったがこれにはロウラーや支持棒を細くするにも限界があり強度的にもより小さい角度にするにも無理なところがあった。以上のようなことを解決する為にロウラーを包丁の峰側に一個だけ取り付けることにより砥石との角度を小さくして十分な大きさのロウラーと支持棒を取り付けることが出来、使いやすい、包丁を研ぐための道具が出来た。この考案によって今は殆ど見かけられなくなっている、どこの家庭でも砥石にて包丁を研いでいる姿が復活される。  This has the following drawbacks. 課題を解決する為の手段Means to solve the problem

いま、その構成を説明すると
（イ）包丁の当る部分に滑り止め（７）を設けた金属又はプラスチック板を折り曲げた（１）の厚みより大きいロウラー（４）を取り付ける。
（ロ）板の内側にロウラーを支持する為の軸受け（２）を取り付ける。
（ハ）軸受けの先端に包丁の峰が当るように包丁を差し込んで固定する。

考案の効果Effect of device

包丁の刃先とロウラーの砥石接点までの角度が一定になっているのでこれを砥石に合わせて研ぐことにより、同じ角度で研げて良く切れる包丁に仕上がる。この道具をずらす事で長い包丁も簡単に研ぐ事ができる。又、両刃の包丁は持ち手（柄）を左右反対にして持つ事により同様に研ぐことが出来る。  Since the angle between the knife edge and the grinder contact point of the curler is constant, by sharpening it according to the grindstone, the knife can be sharpened at the same angle and cut well.
