なお、上記の超音波洗浄装置51は、野菜や果物、魚貝類といった生鮮食料品の洗浄に適しているが、洗浄対象物は生鮮食料品に限定されるわけではなく、精密機械部品などの工業製品やメガネなどの日用品などであってもよい。洗浄対象物が生鮮食料品の場合、用いる洗浄水は純水であることが望ましい。しかしながら、用いる洗浄水は洗浄対象物の種類に応じて適宜選択することができる。

(本考案の超音波洗浄装置の使用例)
図1に示す本考案の超音波洗浄装置を用いて貝類の超音波洗浄を行った。具体的には、図1に示す本考案の超音波洗浄装置の洗浄槽に市販の生きたアサリを複数個収容し、洗浄槽内に洗浄水を供給してアサリが洗浄水に浸漬された状態で、20〜100kHzの周波数で10〜50分間超音波洗浄を行うと、洗浄水が茶色く濁った。引き続き洗浄槽内に洗浄水を絶えず供給することで洗浄に用いた水を洗浄槽内からオーバーフローさせながら超音波洗浄を行うと、洗浄槽内の水が透明になった。こうして超音波洗浄を行ったアサリは、貝殻の表面に付着していたゴミや汚れが見事に除去され、極めて美しい外観を呈するものであった。このアサリを用いて調理した味噌汁は、貝殻がきれいに大きく開いた、アサリ本来のうまみと香りを持つものであり、しかも、身はプリプリしていて噛んでも全くジャリジャリしなかった。以上の結果は、図1に示す本考案の超音波洗浄装置が、円筒形の洗浄槽を有しており、洗浄槽内に洗浄水を底部中心から絶えず供給することによって洗浄に用いた水を洗浄槽内からオーバーフローさせながら洗浄対象物の超音波洗浄を行うことができるものであることで、アサリを効果的に洗浄できたことによると考えられた。なお、以上のようにして図1に示す本考案の超音波洗浄装置を用いて超音波洗浄を行ったアサリは、冷凍した後も上記と同じ味噌汁を調理することができた。
