【解決手段】座位保持具１は、座位姿勢を保つ際に支えとなる手摺り部３と、手摺り部３を起立収納する収納体２とから構成されている。収納体２は、帯板状の背面部２５と、背面部２５の長手方向両縁部に形成された対向する一対の側面部２１，２１とからなり、起立する収納体２の前面上部は開口部４とされ、側面部２１，２１間には横架材２２が架設されている。対向する一対の側面部２１，２１の内側には、溝部からなる案内ガイド２３が長手方向にそれぞれ形成され、各案内ガイド２３の上部には扇形状の切欠部２４が形成されている。手摺り部３は帯板状とされ、把手となる長手方向先端部３２には、手を差し込むためのスリット３４が短辺方向に形成され、もう一方の長手方向端部である基端部３３には、ストッパーとなる突条部３５が短辺方向に形成されている。

他方、介護を必要とする人の場合、便座への着座または離座時には介護者の助けがあるため、さほど問題とはならないが、座位姿勢を保持できないため、用便時に困難を感じている。このため、座位姿勢を保持できる簡易な器具が望まれている。
