Description
【0001】

[Technical field to which the invention belongs]
The present invention relates to a direct-type backlight unit that can always maintain uniform brightness on a light-emitting surface of a liquid crystal panel.
[0002]
[Prior art]
At present, manufacturers are competing to develop and sell liquid crystal displays having features such as light weight, thinness, and no radiation in order to succeed in each industry.
[0003]
The existing liquid crystal displays are not self-luminous, but display by combining a backlight, and the backlight generally refers to a backlight unit. Also, there are two types of backlight units as shown below.
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
(1) Light guide plate method:
As shown in FIG. 7, the backlight unit adopting the existing light guide plate system includes a straight tube light source (60), a light guide plate (61), a reflection film (62), and a diffusion sheet (60) below a liquid crystal panel (50). 63) and a prism member (64), in which the straight tube light source (60) is installed at one end of the light guide plate (61) to allow light rays to enter the light guide plate (61) from the side surface, and the light guide plate (60). The light is reflected by the liquid crystal panel (50) or transmitted through the light guide plate (61) by the reflecting portion provided below the reflecting portion and the reflecting film provided below the reflecting portion. Then, the light is reflected again into the light guide plate (61) to increase the light guide rate. Then, by adjusting the degree of dispersion and the viewing angle with the diffusion sheet (63) and the prism member (64) and converging the light rays within the range of the viewing angle of the liquid crystal display, the required characteristics of the liquid crystal display are satisfied. However, in a liquid crystal display employing this type of light guide plate type backlight unit, since the thickness of the light guide plate (61) is limited, the quantity of the straight tube light source (60) installed on the side thereof is reduced. Since it cannot be increased, when used for a large-sized liquid crystal display, a preferable luminance cannot be obtained due to a shortage of a light source.
[0005]
(2) Direct method:
As shown in FIG. 8, the backlight unit employing the direct type includes a case body (70), a plurality of light sources (71), a diffusion plate (72), and the like, and the case body (70) includes a liquid crystal panel ( The light source (71) is arranged in parallel in the case body (70), so that the liquid crystal panel can be uniformly irradiated with light rays, and the light source (71) can be uniformly illuminated. Since the quantity of (71) can also be increased according to the size of the liquid crystal panel, a sufficient light source required for the liquid crystal panel can be secured. However, a backlight unit employing this type of direct-lighting system merely enhances the luminous efficiency by using a reflective film (no reference numeral) provided in the case body (70), so that the backlight unit above the light source (71) is used. Although the liquid crystal panel portion has a high luminance, the region between the light sources (71) has a low luminance and has a problem that the luminance is not uniform. Further, since this type of backlight unit is configured to exhibit the light diffusion effect of the diffusion plate (72) by keeping the distance between the diffusion plate (72) and the light source (71) constant, If the distance between the diffusion plate (72) and the light source (71) is too short, the light rays will not be diffused uniformly. Therefore, with this configuration, the thickness of the backlight unit cannot be reduced.
[0006]
As described above, the backlight unit adopting the direct type is easy to apply to a large liquid crystal display, and by using a large number of straight tube lamps or deformed tube lamps as light sources, the light from the backlight can be sufficiently reduced. It can irradiate the liquid crystal display above it. However, in such a method, the liquid crystal panel portion above the light source has high brightness, but the liquid crystal panel portion between the light sources has low brightness, so that the entire brightness is not uniform.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention
A case body (21) installed on the back side of the liquid crystal panel (10);
At least one light source (22) installed inside the case body (21) so as to correspond to the light incident surface (12) provided on the liquid crystal panel (10);
And at least one light-shielding plate (30), which has a light-shielding effect, is formed with a plurality of light-transmitting portions (31), and is installed so as to correspond to above the light source (22);
Each of the light blocking plates (30) blocks a part of a light beam emitted from the light source (22), thereby providing a direct-type backlight unit.
[0008]
[Action]
The direct-type backlight unit of the present invention solves the above-described problem, and provides uniform brightness with its light source by being installed on the light incident surface side of a liquid crystal panel. Further, the configuration is a straight tube lamp or a modified tube lamp, at least one light source, and at least one light-shielding plate and a diffusion plate, while the light source therein is installed on the upper surface of the case body, Since a light-shielding plate is arranged above each light source and a diffusion plate is further provided above the light-shielding plate, the light from the light source provided thereunder can be diffused to make the luminance uniform.
[0009]
Also, in the existing backlight unit, the liquid crystal panel portion above the light source has high brightness, but the liquid crystal panel portion between the light sources, which is a light source, has low brightness. Since a fluorescent lamp is used as the light source, the light beam is radiated radially and a light shielding plate is further provided above each light source, so that a part of the light beam irradiated above the light source is blocked, and the area between the light sources is blocked. Approaches brightness. That is, the brightness of the light emitting surface of the liquid crystal display becomes uniform. Furthermore, in the backlight unit of the present invention, a single-layer reflecting film is provided between the light source and the upper surface of the case body, and the light emitted downward from the light source can also be used as a light source. In this case, even if a part of the light beam from the light source is reflected on the light-shielding plate, the reflection film provided below reflects the light beam to the region between the light sources to increase the brightness of the region. Since the brightness of the backlight unit can be made uniform, the distance between the diffuser plate and the light source can be made closer, and the thickness of the entire backlight unit can be further reduced.
[0010]
Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0011]
[Embodiment of the invention]
FIG. 1 is a partial sectional view of a first embodiment of a direct backlight unit according to the present invention, FIG. 2 is a partial sectional view of a second embodiment of a direct backlight unit according to the present invention, and FIG. FIG. 4 is a partial sectional view showing a light path of a light source in FIG. 2, FIG. 4 is a plan view showing a transparent region of a light shielding plate in a direct type backlight unit according to the present invention, and FIGS. It is a top view which shows each shape of the lamp which is a light source used for a direct-type backlight unit, FIG. 6: A has shown the brightness | luminance at the time of providing the reflective film of a geometric shape in the direct-type backlight unit which concerns on this invention. FIG. 6B is a distribution diagram illustrating luminance in a case where a direct-type backlight unit according to the present invention does not include a reflective film having a geometric shape.
[0012]
As shown in the first embodiment of FIG. 1, the direct type backlight unit of the present invention has a uniform brightness by installing the backlight member (20) on the light incident surface (12) side of the liquid crystal panel (10). The light beam is applied to the upper liquid crystal panel (10).
Further, the structure of the direct type backlight unit of the present invention includes a case body (21) installed on the light incident surface (12) side of the liquid crystal panel (10),
A straight tube lamp (as shown in FIG. 5A) or a W-shaped or U-shaped deformed tube lamp (as shown in FIGS. 5B to 5D), and a liquid crystal panel (10) inside a case body (21). At least one light source (22) installed corresponding to the light incident surface (12) provided;
And at least one light-shielding plate (30), which has a light-shielding effect, is formed with a plurality of light-transmitting portions (31), and is installed so as to correspond to above the light source (22);
A plurality of light transmitting portions (31) are formed on each light shielding plate (30), and the shape of the light transmitting portions (31) and the distance between the light transmitting portions (31) are determined by the luminance required by the liquid crystal panel (10). And each light transmitting portion (31) is configured by arranging different through holes as shown in the embodiment of FIG. Each light shielding plate (30) is installed above the light source (22) so as to form a pair with the light source (22), and has a curved or flat shape and is made of a material such as transparent, translucent or highly reflective opaque.
[0013]
As described above, the liquid crystal display is of a direct type, and the lower backlight member (20) irradiates a light beam having a uniform luminance, and a fluorescent lamp is used as the light source. At the same time, the position corresponding to the upper side of the light source (22) in the liquid crystal panel (10) becomes the high brightness area (100), and the position corresponding to the upper side between the two light sources (22) in the liquid crystal panel (10). The position where the image is to be formed is a low luminance area (101). Further, the light-shielding plate (30) above each light source (22) blocks a part of the light emitted upward from the light source (22) and makes the brightness of the light emitted from the backlight member (20) uniform. . That is, the brightness of the light emitted from the light emitting surface (11) of the liquid crystal panel (10) is made more uniform.
[0014]
Conventionally, a diffusion plate, a diffusion sheet (without a sign) or a prism member (without a sign) is further provided above the light-shielding plate to make the luminance more uniform between the light source and the diffusion plate. Although it is necessary to maintain a certain interval, according to the present invention, since the brightness of the light beam emitted from the light source (22) is dispersed in advance by the light shielding plate (30), the diffusion provided above the light shielding plate (30) is provided. The distance between the plate (23) and the light source (22) can be further reduced, and as a result, the overall thickness of the backlight member (20) can be reduced.
[0015]
As shown in FIG. 2, the second embodiment of the present invention is similar to the first embodiment, except that at least one reflector (40) is integrally formed on the bottom surface of the case body (21). As shown in FIG. 3, a light beam is radiated from the light source (22) to a position corresponding to the upper light source (22) in the reflection portion (40), and then the light beam is reflected by the reflection portion (40). ), The light is reflected toward the upper light shielding plate (30). In addition, since the reflecting portion (40) has a geometrical shape, the light beam is applied to the low brightness region (101) between the light sources (22), so that the brightness of the region is appropriately increased.
[0016]
Further, the position of the center line (42) provided on the reflecting portion (40) corresponds to the light source (22) above, and a concave curved surface, a convex curved surface, or a flat inclined surface is provided on both sides of the center line (42). (41) is formed.
[0017]
FIGS. 6A and 6B are curve diagrams showing the state of luminance before and after the provision of the reflection unit (40) in the present invention, and as can be seen from this, the backlight unit (FIG. 6) provided with the reflection unit (40). 6B) is less disturbed than the backlight unit without the reflector (40) (as in FIG. 6A).
[0018]
Note that the direct-type backlight unit shown in FIGS. 1 to 5 is merely a part of the present invention, and may be configured in any form within the scope of the claims shown in this specification. Needless to say, even if it is within the range easily conceivable, it naturally belongs to the claimed range of the present invention.
[0019]
[Effect of the invention]
In the present invention, as in the above configuration, by providing a light-shielding plate and adjusting the radial rays emitted from the light source, the brightness of the light source can be made uniform. A certain problem can be solved, and the luminance of the entire light source can be improved by providing the reflecting portion. Further, in the present invention, by installing the light shielding plate, the light from the light source is dispersed in advance, and the difference between the high luminance region and the low luminance region can be reduced. Since the interval can be reduced, the thickness of the entire backlight unit can be reduced.
