準備したり、或いは曲率を異ならせた複数種のウエイト
本体を準備しており、コストアップの原因となるととも
に管理が煩雑となっていた。また、ウエイト本体から突
出するクリップの長さを調整できるようにしたものにあ
っては広範囲のホイールにウエイト本体を安定して取付
けることができるが、上記ウエイト本体とクリップとの
連結位置を変更するための手段を必要とするので、高価
となっていた。本発明はそのような事情に鑑み、広範囲
のホイールにウエイト本体を安定して取付けることがで
き、しかも安価に製造することができるホイール用バラ
ンスウエイトを提供するものである。

ールにウエイト本体を安定して取付けることができると
ともに、ウエイト本体に逃げ部を形成するだけでよいの
で、安価に製造することができる。

記ウエイト本体1は、上記ホイール3の外周リム5の円
周方向内周面に沿って円弧状に湾曲させてあり(図1参
照)、かつこの円弧面の曲率を予定している最小のホイ
ール3の外周リム5の内周面の曲率よりも大きく設定す
ることにより、ウエイト本体1の両端部が外周リム5の
内面に当接することがないようにしている。また上記ウ
エイト本体1は、上記裏面2から上面6(図1、図4参
照)にかけて、上記ホイール3のディスク部4から外周
リム5に連続する表面にほぼ沿わせて円弧状に形成して
いる。さらに、上記ウエイト本体1の中央部に、上記上
面6から表面7および下面8にかけてウエイト本体1の
周方向と直交する方向に凹部9を形成し、特に上記外周
リム5の内周面に対向するウエイト本体1の上面6に形
成した凹部を外周リム5からの逃げ部10として、該逃
げ部10の両側を上記外周リム5との当接部11として
いる。つまりウエイト本体1は、外周リム5の内周面に
対向する上面6の曲率を外周リム5の内周面の曲率より
も大きく設定し、しかもウエイト本体1の中央部に逃げ
部10を形成しているので、該逃げ部10の両側の当接
部11が外周リム5の内周面に当接するようになり、ま
たこれと同時に裏面2がホイール3のディスク部4に当
接するようになる。したがって、ウエイト本体1を安定
した状態でホイール3に当接させることができる。次
に、上記ウエイト本体1をホイール3に固定するクリッ
プ14は、全体として概略U字形に形成してあり、その
一端部を上記凹部9内においてウエイト本体1の下面8
に当接させている。他方、クリップ14の他端部はウエ
イト本体1の上面6および外周リム5の先端部を越えて
外周リム5の外周面までU字形に延びており、該他端部
が外周リム5の外周面に密着されてクリップ14の両端
部でウエイト本体1をホイール3に挟持している。な

特公昭48−3961号公報に開示されている。以上の
構成において、ウエイト本体1をホイール3に取付ける
際には、先ず、クリップ14をホイール3の外周リム5
に跨らせてその一端部を図示しないタイヤとホイール3
との間に圧入しておく。この状態で図示しない上述の治
具を用いてクリップ14の他端部をウエイト本体1の凹
部9内に位置させるようにして、ホイール3とクリップ
14との間にウエイト本体1を圧入する。この状態で
は、ウエイト本体1はその裏面2がディスク部4に、ま
た逃げ部10の両側の当接部11が外周リム5の内周面
に当接し、かつウエイト本体1の凹部9内の下面8がク
リップ14の端部で支持されているので、ホイール3に
安定した状態で取付けられている。そしてその取付けの
際、ウエイト本体1は逃げ部10の両側の当接部11で
外周リム5の内周面に当接するので、従来のウエイト本
体1の両端部を外周リム5の内周面に当接させる場合に
比較して、両当接部11の間の間隔を狭くすることがで
きる。したがって、ホイール3の大きさが異なって外周
リム5の内周面の曲率が変化しても、ウエイト本体1の
中央部と外周リム5の内周面との間隔の変化量を従来よ
りも遙かに小さなものとすることができるので、広範囲
のホイール3にウエイト本体1を安定して取付けること
ができる。なお、上記実施例ではクリップ14はウエイ
ト本体1から分離されているが、該クリップ14の一端
部を予めウエイト本体1に埋設する等の手段によって連
結しておいてもよいことは勿論である。
