A large number of pressing rollers 3 as pressing members are arranged inside the wide conveying belt 2 such that the wide conveying belt 2 and the platen glass 1 are pressed against each other so as to be vertically and horizontally aligned. The wide transport belt 2 is made of a material having such a property that the friction coefficient between the wide belt 2 and the document P is larger than the friction coefficient between the document P and the platen glass 1. The document P is conveyed without slippage.

However, in the case of the above-mentioned conventional automatic document feeder, when the original P on the platen glass 1 passes near the position of the pressing roller 3 (FIG. 6A). The original P on the platen glass 1 is pressed
When the vehicle does not pass near the position (FIG. 6 (b)),
The friction force between the original P and the surface of the platen glass 12 (coefficient of friction μp = approximately 0.2) fP is greater than the friction force between the conveying belt 2 and the surface of the platen glass 1 (coefficient of friction μG = approximately 1.2) fG. Is large, the instantaneous load (difference in frictional force) at which the trailing end of the document P being conveyed by the wide conveyance belt 2 passes near the position of the pressing roller 3 causes the wide conveyance belt 2 to be driven at a constant speed. Speed fluctuations such that the speed becomes slower. Since this variation affects the original P being conveyed while being in contact with the wide conveying belt 2 without slippage, when the rear end of the original P passes through the vicinity of the pressing roller 3, the image of the original P is read by the moving document reading method. When reading is performed, there is a disadvantage that the image formation being copied is blurred when the speed fluctuates.

At the moment when the leading end of the document P being conveyed by the wide conveying belt 2 enters near the position of the pressing roller 3, the load is opposite to when the rear end of the document P passes near the position of the pressing roller 3. Is suddenly reduced, so that a speed fluctuation occurs such that the speed is instantaneously increased, and at this time, there is a disadvantage that the copied image is blurred.

According to the above construction, a plurality of pressing members arranged in a direction intersecting the conveying direction are provided inside a wide conveying belt for conveying an original on a platen glass.
The wide transport belt is pressed against the platen glass. Further, of the pressing member rows, an arbitrary pressing member in the predetermined pressing member row arranged at a position where the leading end or the rear end of the document passes while reading the image of the document is replaced with the predetermined pressing member row. By arranging the pressing members at a predetermined distance from the other pressing members in the conveying direction, a load generated when a document enters and comes out of a predetermined pressing member row is dispersed in the conveying direction.

The RDF 11 separates a plurality of originals P stacked on the original placing table 12 one by one by a first separating unit 13, conveys the originals P by a paper feeding unit 15, and The document is sequentially loaded at the position, the image reading unit (optical system) 17 in the copying machine 10 is moved in the direction of arrow A to read the image, and the discharge unit 25 reloads the document on the document mounting table 12. The plurality of originals P stacked on the original mounting table 12 are separated one by one by a second separating unit 20 and conveyed by a paper feeding unit 21 to be separated by an optical system 1.
7, the optical system 17 is fixed at a position of a distance L from the home position (shown by a broken line) (a position substantially at the center of the platen glass 16: located between the pressing rollers 22B and 22C), and is widely conveyed on the platen glass 16. An image reading mode is provided in which an image is read while the document P conveyed at a constant speed by the belt 23 is being conveyed, and the discharging means 25 reloads the document P on the document mounting table 12.

In this case, in the above-mentioned document flow reading mode, each of the pressing roller rows 22A, 22B, 22C, 2
The pressing roller rows 22B and 22 arranged at positions where the leading edge and the trailing edge of the document P during image reading pass in 2D.
The two pressing rollers 40, 41 located inside C are shifted from the two pressing rollers 39, 42 located outside the same pressing roller rows 22B, 22C by a minute distance H in the transport direction. Have been placed.

In this way, when the trailing end of the document P comes out of the vicinity of the row of pressing rollers 22B, and when the leading end of the document P enters near the position of the row of pressing rollers 22C, the load generated in the transport direction. Distributed. For this reason, the speed of the wide conveying belt 23 is suppressed to such a level that the image exposed on the photosensitive drum 31 does not fluctuate, and an image can be formed without image blur.

During the image reading, the pressing force of the pressing rollers 40 and 41 of the pressing roller array 22B from which the rear end of the original P comes off is made smaller than the pressing rollers 39 and 42, and the pressing roller array into which the leading end of the original P enters. By making the pressing force of the pressing rollers 40 and 41 of the 22C smaller than that of the pressing rollers 39 and 42, FIG.
As shown in (c), a rapid change in the pressing force can be suppressed smoothly.

Note that the leading end of the document P is
Are located at the positions of the pressing rollers 40, 41, the rear end of the document P is pressed by the pressing rollers 39, 40, 41,
Since the document P is located at a position where the document P is pressed, the reliability of conveyance of the document P is not impaired. When the rear end of the document P is located at the position of the pressing rollers 40 and 41 of the pressing roller row 22B,
The leading end of the document P is the pressing rollers 39, 4 of the pressing roller row 22C.
Since it is located at a position where it is pressed against 0, 41, and 42, the reliability of conveyance of the document P is not similarly impaired.

Since the pressing roller rows 22A and 22D are located at positions where the document P during image formation is not pressed, the pressing roller rows 22A and 22D are arranged vertically in a line as in the prior art. In addition, the arrangement is such that the reliability of conveyance of the document P in the document fixed reading mode is not impaired. <Embodiment 2> In this embodiment, the pressing roller rows 22A, 22B, 22C, 2
When the 2D is at a position where the original P on which an image is being formed is pressed,
As shown in FIG. 3A, the pressing roller rows 22A and 22D are constituted by pressing rollers 39, 40, 41 and 42, and the pressing roller rows 2
2B and 22C are constituted by pressing rollers 40 and 41. The pressing rollers 40, 41 of the pressing roller rows 22A, 22D are arranged at positions shifted from the pressing rollers 39, 42 by a small distance H in the transport direction so that the pressing force does not concentrate on each pressing roller row. Is located at a position where the original P on which an image is being formed is pressed.
As shown in (1), the pressing roller rows 22B and 22C are constituted by a plurality of pressing rollers 40 and 41 arranged in the transport direction.
