In a phosphor layer of a fluorescent display tube, a ZnO: Zn phosphor has been mainly used as a phosphor which emits light when excited by an electron beam of 100 V or less. This phosphor has a low light emission threshold voltage and a voltage of more than ten volts can provide sufficient light emission luminance, so that it is currently widely used as a phosphor for a fluorescent display tube.

By the way, when a phosphor is excited and emitted with a low-speed electron beam of 100 V or less, electrons that strike the phosphor hardly penetrate into the phosphor particles, and the penetration depth is said to be several + Å at most. Most of the light emission occurs on the phosphor surface. Therefore, it is considered that the surface state of the phosphor greatly affects the light emission characteristics.

Usually, in the process of manufacturing a fluorescent display tube, the phosphor undergoes a heat treatment process such as firing, encapsulation, and exhaustion, so that the surface thereof is susceptible to contamination or deterioration.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] As described above, the ZnO: Zn phosphor used in the conventional fluorescent display tube is a fluorescent material due to various contaminations received during the process of manufacturing the fluorescent display tube. The original performance of the device itself cannot be brought out sufficiently, leading to a decrease in luminance and luminous efficiency, resulting in variations in luminance or poor temperature characteristics (decrease in luminance during high-temperature storage and high-temperature operation). There were drawbacks.

In particular, in a field where high luminance and long life are required, such as a recent in-vehicle use, a decrease in luminance due to surface contamination of a phosphor has been a problem.

The fluorescent display tube of the present invention is a ZnO: Zn phosphor and TiO, SnO,
It has a phosphor layer formed by mixing at least one of NiO. That is, TiO, SnO, Ni are added to ZnO: Zn phosphor.
During the manufacturing process of the fluorescent display tube by mixing O,
This is to prevent contaminants from adhering to the surface of the phosphor as much as possible.

FIG. 3 is a sectional view of a main part of a fluorescent display tube according to an embodiment of the present invention. First, the power supply conductor 5 is attached on an insulating substrate 4 made of glass or the like. Subsequently, an insulating layer 6 is formed, and an anode conductor 7 electrically connected to the power supply conductor 5 via a through hole in the insulating layer 6 is formed. Next, the phosphor composition is formed into a phosphor paste by using a binder such as ethyl cellulose, and the phosphor composition is applied on the anode conductor 7 by a screen printing method to form a phosphor layer 8. Next, a mesh-shaped control electrode 9 and a filament-shaped cathode 10 are attached above the phosphor layer 8 and the cover glass 11 is attached to the substrate 4.
To complete the fluorescent display tube.

Although TiO was described in the above embodiment, the same result as in the case of mixing TiO is obtained when SnO and NiO are mixed. When the mixing amount of TiO, SnO, and NiO to the ZnO: Zn phosphor is 0.05% by weight or less, the effect of improving the luminance is small, and
When the content exceeds% by weight, a decrease in luminance is observed.
