本発明のインクカートリッジは、インクを吸収する素
材によって形成したシート状のインク吸収材をカートリ
ッジケース内に収容するとともに、廃インクを受け入れ
る廃液口を前記カートリッジケースの一部に設けたイン
クカートリッジであって、前記廃液口を、該廃液口に挿
入されて針穴から廃インクを排出する針の先端を覆うよ
うに前記カートリッジケースの内部に突出させて形成す
るとともに、前記廃液口に対して前記シート状のインク
吸収材をその上下から挟持するよう積層配設したことを

以下に、本発明の実施例を図面に基づいて説明する。
第1図はカートリッジケース10、検出レバー4、インク
袋7、シート状の吸収材6等で構成されたインクカート
リッジ20を示した本発明の一実施例である。取出口1aが
熱シールによって溶着されたインク袋1は接着あるいは
両面粘着テープによりカートリッジケース10に固着され
ており、上部には金属またはプラスチックよりなる薄い
検出板5が接着されている。取出口1aもカートリッジケ
ース10に固定されている。検出レバー4はカートリッジ
ケース10のAにおける図の奥行方向の2点において回転
自由に軸支され、先端4aは前記検出板5に自重またはば
ねに伏勢されて当接している。さらに先端4bは、図示し
ない方法でカートリッジホルダーに固定された検出器30
に当接可能になっており、インクが無くなると検出し
て、記録装置ではインクカートリッジの交換を警報す
る。インクカートリッジ20の上部は、空気孔11aを有し
た上蓋11および吸収材6とインク袋1とを隔離する為の
中蓋12がシール溶着されている。また、廃インクを受け
入れる廃液口13がカートリッジケース10の一部に設けら
れている。この廃液口13には、インクカートリッジをプ
リンタ本体に装着する際に廃インクをインクカートリッ
ジ内に排出するための針14が挿入される。針14の先端部
には廃インクを排出する針穴が形成されており、この針
14の先端を覆うように廃液口13はカートリッジケース10
の内部に突出して形成されている。そしてこの廃液口13
を上下から挟むようにしてシート状のインク吸収材6が
積層配設されている。従って、針14が直接インク吸収材
6に突き刺さることがなく、インクカートリッジ20のプ
リンタ本体への挿抜時に負荷が少なくなり、固定部品で
ある針の破損等が防止されるとともに、インク吸収材の
破損も防止され、吸収材の屑で針穴が詰まり廃液排出に
支障をきたすというような問題が予防される。更に、こ
のように内部に突出した廃液口13を上下から挟むように
してシート状のインク吸収材6を積層配設したため、排
出されてくるインクの飛び散りを抑制しながらシート状
のインク吸収材全面に廃インクを効率良く吸収させるこ
とができ、カートリッジ外部へのインクの漏洩を防止す
ることができる。また、インク吸収材6で廃液口13を挟
み込んだ内部、即ち廃液口13からインクが丁度排出され
る部分に自然に空間が形成され、多量の廃インクが廃イ
ンクが排出されてきた場合はこの空間に一時的に取り込
むことができるため、廃インクの回収を停滞させること
がなく、しかもこの空間は吸収材6により囲まれている
ため、取り込まれたインクはカートリッジ外部に漏出せ

に保護されて直接インク吸収材に突き刺さることがな
く、インクカートリッジのプリンタ本体への挿抜時に負
荷が少なくなり、固定部品である針の破損等が防止され
るとともに、インク吸収材の破損も防止され、吸収材の
屑で針穴が詰まり廃液排出に支障をきたすというような
問題が予防される。更に、このように内部に突出した廃
液口を上下から挟むようにしてシート状のインク吸収材
を積層配設したため、排出されてくるインクの飛び散り
を抑制しながらシート状のインク吸収材全面に廃インク
を効率良く吸収させることができ、カートリッジ外部へ
のインクの漏洩を防止することができる。また、インク
吸収材で廃液口を挟み込むだけで部品点数や製造工程を
増やさずに簡単な構成で廃液口近傍に自然に空間を形成
でき、この空間を利用して排出されてきたインクを一時
的に取り込むことができるため、廃インクの回収を停滞
させることがなく、しかもこの空間は吸収材により囲ま
れているため、取り込まれたインクはカートリッジ外部
